I think her primary mode of magic is the emotions in her voice. that's her gold. there're musicians who have great power, tech specs etc. but Lana's a genius w a lot of heart intelligence and that's what brings the songs to life. what's most beautiful about it is how it doesn't sound forced, at all. even the cursive girls can't fake that. similar to how Rihanna might not be the best singer, but the style is always only theirs. water signs represennnnnnnnnt.
i've been loving the lyrics a lot more, it's so mentally stimulating so i don't mind it a bit. i'd love for some repetitive lyrics to slip into for like a sexier effect but there are always other ways of getting lost in the lyrics.
so far like i mentioned earlier in the thread, the music reminds me of beatrix kiddo from kill bill, the bride vibes, and the production's been pretty great so far imo. even the offbeat drums/percussion w WFWF is a great way of using the off-note percussion as a sensual device. and it's actually a lot more indicative of ability for artists to veer into that mode and do it well, instead of sticking to the usual musical formula.
the music's been pretty blunt so far, so there's really no escaping it, and in that, is how it's direct. it's a lot earthier than her prev stuff and i'm all for it. it does take a specific kind of focus/ mental state to tap into so i get how it might not be for everyone. i am still pretty excited of where this road'll lead.

My interpretation is that she was very much influenced by Sylvia Plath whose relationship with her mother was quite strained as Lana’s own relationship with her mother seems to be. Sylvia’s mother is suspected to be a narcissist and had this idea of perfect womanhood Sylvia felt like she failed to fit into. Lana might have experienced the same thing which explains her affinity with Plath. I think with “the issue of her” in this case, Lana could be either referring to her mother, or the perfect Elizabeth Grant she was deemed to be mold into or both. As for the line in HIADT, my opinion is she’s talking about her mother.

idk, shes not really calling herself a "black narcissist", its more that she's personifying her depression as a separate entity that is not really her
referring to herself in the 3rd person on TB is kinda weird ngl

I get your point, however the way she calls the black narcissist also with the pronoun she in the next line makes it kinda obvious, that she is talking about her (depressed) self- the third line is basically the same thing she does in TB: she and I, but both are about her

I really don't see how the BLM lyric is problematic. She's saying she's screaming "BLM" so...??? how is that even an issue? she's saying she was at a rally (which is true and we saw, there were videos her when she was there)... standing with solidarity with a human rights group is now a problem? i don't get that lmao whoever's upset must be a cop or something bc... yikes

I already found the idiots on duty, on twitter there are people saying that the part where Lana mentions BLM is weird or that she is "romanticizing" that ... they don't know what to talk about to attack her

Dare I say that 'Text Book' is one of the best Lana songs I have heard in years. I'm literally shook from the first listen and it only gets better from there.

this song is kinda a maze to interpret
one minute she’s talking about her dad, then i think she’s talking about sean, and then this line,
“people say we’re too much alike”
reminds me of barrie

So, first of all, bye Jack ??
Secondly, kinda reminds me of her Lizzy stuff.
And lastly, Lana, if you‘re reading this, you‘re truly a living legend ?

Lana is considering herself an alternative artist . And these singles are definitely the most alternative songs I've heard from her...
The general public might not care for it ..But this is a real real treat for the hardcore fans .
I love it ! I'm amazed at her talent and how she keeps delivering quality ..
I don't care about covers .. when I put my headphones I'm transported away.. And that's what I'm here for !!!
