i feel the same way! those songs have such character to them and they’re all so unique and timeless — i feel like maybe lana may never go back in this direction because maybe she feels she’s matured out of that phase or era of her life and songwriting, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but sometimes i wish she would go back down the ~*character fantasy~* road in her music, whether it be a new direction or just paying a tribute to her past self 

Re: Recycling Old Material for an Album

I like to think of Lana’s entire work as a metaphor for a dwelling. Every album release is a room in the house, each with its own personality, aesthetic, and vibe. The things inside of the room (aka each track) can be from any given store, retailer, catalog, etc… In other words, the songs can be from any era but the key element is that they were purposefully chosen, and they ultimately work together to create a beautiful album. When you zoom out and look at the dwelling, it becomes a living repository - a meticulously crafted archive of who she is as an artist and as a person. 

At least he seems confident it will be out this year 
 
that means realistically we should have it by mid November, not much comes out after that

Thinking clearly, Chemtrails wasn't a bad album at all. I just think the placement of the tracklist is... weird.
We start off with some really powerful songs. White Dress is an amazing opener, and then we have songs like the title track, Tulsa and Dark. But then, the rest of the songs were too mellow. It went from 100% to a 10% real quick and it felt like we never quite reached the climax. 
 
I complain about Banisters having only piano, but even if they're ballads, it can be a beautiful album. If the tracklist placement is well done (with songs transitioning onto each other, etc) then it might be a great work

* Later on, she announced she would be dropping an American Standard & Classics for Christmas, as Chemtrails was ultimately delayed.
* Then, she announced on Twitter, that she was working on two albums at the same time + had the intention to release a collab album with Nikki Lane.
 
* We know she wasn't recording Chemtrails at that time, as the album had been finished months ago, back in 2020. The reason it was delayed, was the vinyl issue.
 
* The collab album was just a project that most likely never started. The AS&C was probably started, but for some reason, scrapped. 
 
* After releasing Chemtrails, she announced Rock Candy Sweet. When asked about it, by a fan, she said RCS was already finished and started working on the next album (this was also confirmed by Mike Dean, when said he was working with Lana, but wasn't sure his songs would be on RCS or the next) 
 
* RCS was renamed into BB. 
 
* BOZ spilled on ATRL, saying the album had (unleaked) outtakes AND unreleased songs from other eras. Then, confirmed she scrapped most of the OG concept and songs. 
 
* BB is renamed, according to BOZ.
 
* Lana teases Arcadia, and BOZ says he's not sure if the album was renamed back into BB.
 
* Now, BB has unleaked/unreleased songs AGAIN. Meaning that the songs Lana wrote for this album, were scrapped ONCE AGAIN.
 
I wonder what happened? Did she think these new songs were TOO personal for her to release them? Or is she saving them for the next album? 
 
If anything, this only adds more songs to the list of songs we might never hear (or might leak someday)
 
 

People be having the reading comprehension of a rock. Yosemite was an outtake and also a brand new song for us. It doesn't really matter if she wrote the song this year or in 2014

I don’t mind her putting outtakes on an album because they’re still new songs to us.

She's telling her story so it's really exciting that she's revisiting old projects for it. Maybe those songs were too controversial to be released but she just doesn't care anymore

Also some other outtakes could be from the TLSP album since Zach is involved on this album & Thunder is on it. Dope could be on it or the rumoured Under My Skin. I think Dope was unfinished but she could have finished that Song with Zach for this album for example.

why does she keep delaying this when half of the tracklist r outtakes and old songs

i interpreted it as “give her a few weeks to start announcing things” because 1) i dont think he knows the timeline of her work n when she is projected to finish something 2) if shes still not finished with the album theres no way its coming this year bc it is more than likely required to be released with physicals (he said the album is 100% coming this year)

So the Barrie song is unknown... so it isn't UFB or Riverside... but it may be an UV outtake .
I honestly don't care at all if she uses old songs cause they are still new to us. Already leaked song I don't mind 1 o 2 either cause it's not her fault they leaked and she always reworks them so...
