if it’s coming this friday then i don’t mind they shared the snippet that early, but if it’s coming any later…imma be mad

most artists who share a snippet either put an exact date of when the song is getting released, or start to take action and promote the album  soon after the snippet. lana loves to just drop 15-30 sec of a song then be silent for months, and it’s torture for us fans.

I agree that listening experience is important for many people and these reasons you put out are probably the main reasons people want from an album but my unpopular opinion is that I'd rather take the experimental genre fusion and little bit chaotic route in an album with good songs. It's just my opinion but yours is valid btw!

i mean, OB wasn't very cohesive but still works as an album.

i'm not bothered about that. Honestly, I just need that quavo bop to be good and join my list of lana bops, and i'm  good.

i'll take prettiest girl in country music too, and the album for me is already great.

please god let that quavo cut eat and be on lasso 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I respectfully think we overstate/exacerbate LFL’s supposed lack of cohesion. It’s a two halves record in which the first relies heavily on trap/hip hop and the second half leans onto folk/americana - the thing is both halves possess sonic elements of one another. There’s a folk sensibility in the first half of the record and some very subtle infusions of trap/hip-hop in the songs of the second half (the beats in Heroin and WTWWAWWJKD are trap). It’s really not that disjointed and the storytelling makes a good progression that ties everything together. A record like Blue Banisters is way more all over the place and abrasive.

Also, how much can we fault artists for our decision to play albums on shuffle? lol

I always loved LFL although it wasnt as coherent as HM or NFR (still to this day, HM is probably her most cohesive album and to have LFL being released after really made the comparison between the two jarring), but I didn’t mind because it was a somewhat tumultuous summer of my life and the album being « all over the place » reflected pretty much who I was at that moment.

i relistened to it a couple of weeks ago and what struck me then wasnt the different genres that were there but mostly the differences in production. Love, the title track, 13B, Heroin, Groupie Love, Get Free, BPBP, TNC, World at War all have this lush layered production and then there are the last additions to the album where the production seems a bit more naked or imperfect (In My Feelings, Change, Coachella, White Mustang).

anyways, I hope that Tough isn’t the only bopish song on Lasso, especially if it’s the lead (I hate when artists serve the best track as lead or when it doesn’t represent the sound of the album)

I dreamt that Lana released a song that the title was just numbers, kind of like a date. The first number was 24 btw.

I hate that Lasso will likely be compared to Cowboy Carter, she should have released earlier tbh because I bet Lana was working on it first anyway. But I guess it may be more different than I think and can’t base the whole record on 15 seconds of Tough, most songs will still be piano country

    10. Highway Angel feat. Dolly Parton 03:24
    11. Angels Forever, Forever Angels 4:40
    12. Nashville Skyline  04:32
    13. Grapevine Peak  03:59
    14. Sinner       03:33
    15. Blackbird  06:21
    16. Henry, Come On  03:21
    17. Pawnshop Blues 03:26
    18. Wild Woman     04:22
    19. Like An Eagle In The Sky - Outro 01:28
    Duration: 1:09:59

    Some explanation:
    - Westbound: guitar strums, makes you feel like you stand in the desert, spoken words, transitions into the title track
    - LYTAN it could timeline wise fit and I think it once got described as TJF x IFYLDWM so I kinda see it having a bit bop energy
    - Eye Candy (For The Cowboys) : a saloon piano themed bop with some trap fusion /beats in the second half of the song, the scenery is set in a saloon with Lana being a saloon girl, someone had the idea for a saloon piano song on this site and it needs to happen
    - Has Anyone Else Ever Died For You
About the music industry, kinda revenge vibes, it contains beats and electric guitar but it focuses more on the countryish side again
    - Prettiest Girl In Country Music : I can see it fitting theme wise after the last one (hence the lyrics: I'd rather be the real the damn thing, I guess this is a meeting in the music industry)
    - AFFA: slightly reworked,  more guitar and countryish details added, some spoken word (one sentence, could also be a Ride reference) in the beginning and then the humming
    - Nashville Skyline and Grapevine Peak being more traditional country sounding songs with different elements sprinkled in like a saxophone, spaghetti western guitar or a fiddle
    - Sinner: a bop in the vein of the DTWD bridge
    - Blackbird: starts as a ballad and turns into a country rock fusioned song
    - Henry and Pawnshop Blues: the two ballads, Pawn Shop Blues being similiar to the OG but Lana harmonizes to the OG vocals kinda turning it into a Lizzy x Lana collab (it works in my head)
    - Wild Woman : Interpolates Wild One but it is besides that a new song and which she embraces her power, herself, making it out of some hardships of life and it's an anthem to freedom , it starts on a slower note but has an exploding, epic build up, could contain country rock vibes in the build up, after the explosion the song slows down and transitions into
    - Like An Eagle In The Sky : a more atmospheric extended outro of the last track with guitar strums and cicade noises, an eagle screaming, she uses spoken words in it and ends the album /the story

    Thanks for reading

Genuine question, do we know who the members are of the national juries? Because it’s all so strange to me, every year, they reveal the jury votes but who are they? Producers? Song writers? Celebrities? TV people? Like, who are they, why do they get to have these special votes and a special say? It’s much more comprehensible that the tele votes are from the public, we’re all the public. But who’s the juries?

i think that lust for life is cohesive but i don't bother explaining it because it would be a long ass essay. i don't really care if the album is cohesive or not, idk why people care about cohesion that much, like focus on the story of the songs, not album - that was kinda the point of ocean blvd as well.
    omg she gonna re-record 24 (lana's version)

I wish Ireland won (top for me, the theatrics and song were amazing), I also liked Croatia and Ukraine but Switzerland was a deserved win.

Politics aside the israel song was awful. Can't believe they got so many votes from an artistic or political point of view.
