The lines are insane and so unorganized but I'm really glad I went yesterday! Met some great people, I got some vinyl, my friend got one of the necklaces, we each got a free poster. It was nice to enjoy my first LDR pop up after years of wanting to go to one of them.

lana went live for the blue banisters release and i think we have a pretty good chance of her going live for the ocean blvd release as well.. i want to compile a list of the TOP fandom questions that are currently unanswered.. there are so many interesting things we want to know that interviewers or the average fan she meets wouldn't necessarily ask.. and regardless, if one of us somehow gets the opportunity to ask lana anything i feel like we might freeze up trying to come up with the BEST question.. so i think it'll be nice to have a list for other reasons as well

so i'm going to keep this thread open for 24 hours, close it as I gather the top ten most liked questions, and upload the list.. then i'd re-open for new replies and it will be updated accordingly as time passes

    rules:

    - reply to this thread with your TOP question for lana del rey. if you could ask her anything, what would you want to know?

    - you may post more than one question but please ONLY POST ONE QUESTION AT A TIME to make tallying the likes and compiling a list possible

    - please DO NOT QUOTE OTHERS WITH OPINIONS or comments as the purpose of this thread is to make a list that is as reflective of the lanaboards fandom as possible. comments ARE allowed but please keep them under a spoiler

    - the ten MOST LIKED questions will make the list

    - be intentional with your likes, if you like every question, you will basically have no effect on the list

yes let's make a list of like the top 15 fandom questions so if that she livestreams on release day again and goes live with one of the lanaboards fans they could theoretically knock out the biggest questions lanaboards as a whole has - the list would be nice to have regardless if someone's put on the spot in a situation and blanks even off live like if she ever does a meet and greet or something in the future (i'm almost sure lala wouldn't even think about doing a meet and greet but who knows).. i'll make a thread

In February 2023, Lana Del Rey was photographed by Chuck Grant for Rolling Stone UK.
She was styled by Joseph Kocharian. Her hair was done by Sheridan Ward, and her makeup by Etienne Ortega.

Guys, if she says it's Jimmy Jimmy Cocoa Puff, then that's what it is. I really don't see why she'd joke? She has clarified lyrics that fans have asked about before. IMO, it makes 1000% more sense for her to be referencing a Nelly song ("Country Grammar") because it would have been a popular song/was released in 2000 when she was in high school. There is a quote where Lana talks about being 15 years old during boarding school, and her teacher introduced her to hip-hop, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, etc. It's quite likely she was listening to Nelly too. To be fair, cocoa puff is also referencing ko ko bop, just in a more roundabout way. It's like a game of telephone:

Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop (Little Anthony & the Imperials 1959)
Shimmy Shimmy Cocoa Puff (Nelly 2000)
Jimmy Jimmy Cocoa Puff (Lana 2023)

I'm sorry to be so adamant, but I'm a Cocoa Puff Truther, and I don't think it makes sense to be discounting the answer that came right from Lana's mouth (or keyboard)

You could check with Barnes & Noble at the Grove, I know they had copies the last time she was in Interview magazine. Sorry if you already thought of that and it's not helpful

Hi all, just want to add a vote for "Jimmy shimmy cocoa puff". I strongly believe Lana is referencing the song "Country Grammar" by Nelly but switching the word "Shimmy" for "Jimmy" (and/or ambiguously switching between the two words). I can completely imagine Lana having had exposure to this song at a formative period in her life (it was released in 2000). As you can see, "Country Grammar" also includes the line "light it up" which appears in A&W as well. The rhythm/melody is quite similar as well.

    "Country Grammar" Lyrics:
Shimmy, shimmy cocoa, what? Listen to it pound
Light it up and take a puff, pass it to me now

*Note: I realize that Nelly's song is likely a reference to the older "Shimmy Shimmy Kokobop" but I think she probably had the Nelly version in mind.

The whole "cocoa puff"/"ko-ko bop" debate is so fucking funny to me because like every girl I went to kindergarten with was OBSESSED with Down, Down Baby... so when I first heard the song there was ZERO question in my mind that she was saying "Jimmy, Jimmy cocoa puff" and I loved the reference, only to find that everyone was at WAR about it

That being said, I'm still a cocoa puff truther From some ~independent research~, it looks like "Down, Down Baby" has gone the route of virtually every playground chant, and separate variants have emerged with either "ko-ko bop" or "cocoa puff," the second of which is way less documented online. HOWEVER (!) as a child of the early 2000s, I wouldn't doubt that Country Grammar had some effect on spreading the "cocoa puff" variant. Like, I remember this rhyme circa 2005-6, so that's not too far out from the song being released. Besides, interpolating a playground chant into a bratty slut anthem is so very Lana, yes

I don't understand this one either! Do they think it's quirky or funny or what? I wonder how they would react if Lana saw & replied to some of the things they say about the people who make her the happiest. I don't listen to Nikki because I'm not a big country music listener but there's no reason for any of us to dislike her?
