    The tapestries are stunning.

Florence, in my unbiased opinion , is one of, if not THE most underrated artist of the 2010s. It amazes me how she has average critical success, and not a large ‘powerful’ fanbase. She truly is 5/5. Not a bad album, nor bad song. It’s insane. A poet. A vocalist. A producer. A writer. A dancer. A performer. Get into it… Like genuinely can not believe she doesn’t have a GRAMMY. Wish That You Were Here deserves at least 10 on its own

this album was such a unexpected gift for me. as a sober person i really appreciate her like not dropping the struggle after hah, like daffodil straight up sounds like it's about drugs to me. Like i realize this seems dumb but progress and healing obviously take years and forever and it was really nice to see an album that is a companion piece to the one before it in that way. ( though hah is also obviously in response to hbhbhb )

melodrama is her best album… if you do ever listen to it put the volume very high

I've had seasons where I like to listen to it and I appreciate the whole album, but sadly they're not been too many as I wished. But it definitely feels a very slow burn type of album. Not her magnum opus, but a good listen every now and then for sure.

as some of you have pointed out, Dance Fever really wasn't as dark or melodramatic as one could've thought from the visuals, but I've listened to the album a LOT and I really do like it  I didn't listen to any of the singles because I wanted the album experience and now my personal favourites are definitely King & The Bomb. I also like Free, Choreomania and Back In Town but My Love sounds like it could be great live so I'm looking forward to hear that this summer!

So - after listening to the album a few times, those are m 5 cents:

It's a great album, but I think it does not fully delivered on what the visuals/ singles promised. There is the framework of an extremely melodramatic and dark album with tracks like King, My Love, Daffodil and Cassandra. We also have the interludes which kind of back this up. However, the other songs just don't seem to colour in.
Don't get me wrong - they are all good or at least solid, but they are pretty much "the usual Florence" kind of thing. My Love is still my favourite track, from the non-singles songs it's between Daffodil and Cassandra. Generally, I'm a huge fan of how she keeps on playing with breaths/ sighs/ etc. on tracks like My Love, Daffodil, Restraint and Heaven Is Here. I wish Prayer Factory was a full song, it has such a great production. And I'd also would have loved it if The Bomb was longer, it's such a beautifully executed ballad. Morning Elvis is a nice track, feels very HBHBHBish, but I don't think it reall fits the album at all. I don't get the hype around Free and I also don't really lik Choreomania. I feel like those two tracks feel a bit empty. Same for Girls Against God.

Enjoying the record. Choreomania is like crack. When the background vocals yell “SOMETHINGS. COMING.” it reminds me so much of the Kate Bush track Hounds of Love, the little “something’s coming, it’s in the trees” bit. It possesses me with the desire to dance wildly, which I can only imagine is it’s primary objective. It’s stuck in my head and I can’t stop thinking about it. It’s my favorite. Girls against god, the bomb, and morning Elvis are my other favorites. I’m having a hard time really taking this album in as a whole body of work right now, but I imagine once I listen to the whole thing a coupla more times I’ll get the “feel” of the record.

Okay so 24 hours later, and I think this may top HIH as her best written album. "The Bomb", "Daffodil" and "Morning Elvis" are personal standouts for me. But really the album is that rare combination of cohesive, artistic, and well formulated. It feels like each note, each lyric, serves a clear and distinct purpose that takes the album as a whole to a new height. There is nothing sloppy about this (none of Flo's work has been), and it shines in both concept and delivery.
