she’s never been a trend chaser and is definitely hyper aware of her standing with the critics, so I can totally see her getting cold feet with this now just to not be compared to Beyoncé, etc. 

This woman is so mysterious 
 
We all have very plausible interpretations of what she said and what’s worst is that all of them could be right, as far-fetched as they are 

I'm a bit late to the conversation and other people have provided better explanations but I wanted to share my two cents and say that as soon as I heard say that I thought of the song "Crystal Ship" by The Doors, especially because she has referenced them before in lyrics/poems

i don’t think she’s scrapping it, but maybe a bit uncertain how much country people are anticipating and doesn’t want to big that up anymore

i think lana is genuinely concerned about looking like a trend hopper (“four major artists announced country albums”) so i think the country thing has probs been shelved for now  which is unfortunate bc i think it would’ve slayed but i’m just excited she’s feeling a bit more playful and melodic for the next record !!

The second she said “Where is Lasso going, I really have no idea now” I realised it’s another Rock Candy Sweet. RIP Lasso 😞

I hope she just goes full country and get this idea that she needs to do country out of her system. Like it has been a lingering theme for SO LONG. Like I WANT IT but omg… 

That I don’t have to pretend to be happy if I’m not. It’s ok to be sad and it doesn’t make me a bad person. 
 
also, how to express yourself as well-rounded person. She can have the most upbeat happy music and the most miserable depressing songs and the stuff about love and heartbreak and sex and money and whatever tf else. You don’t just have to be one thing. A lot of musicians don’t stick out cause they’re very one-note and predictable, but you literally never know what Lana is gonna do next. 

Love that part of the speech in which she stood her ground after her new-level fame post tiktok… people treating her like a new artist is ridiculous. She’s been at it for a minute and it has always been great for those who cared to check it out - not because it’s a background song for a trend
