nothing will EVER compare to the ultraviolence era - every song that was related to that album was unbelievably good. it was just utterly perfect in style and aesthetic, to the powerful and passionate guitars and her sultry vocals (which was the perfect balance of born to die vocals and honeymoon vocals) - we had two incredible deluxe tracks (is this happiness and flipside), the iconic UNTOUCHABLE 5 featuring songs like angels forever, jfk, and starry eyed (the power that these songs have) and lets not forget all the other unreleased songs surrounding the era, Fine China, Say Yes To Heaven, Your Girl, Color Blue :deadbanana: everything was soo depressing and the lyrics were some of her darkest.

the flavour, the flavour of it all... far too much!

There is Abel (weeknd) as well. They have collaborated on a couple songs (Stargirl Interlude, Prisoners, Lust for Life). She even has songwriter credits on another one of his songs.

the "open your purse" comments really get on my nerves... she's under no obligation to prove to anybody that she donated money, and i'm assuming she already has. if she did post that she donated, people would think she is showing off and just doing it to make herself look good, but if she doesn't post about it, people would assume she didn't donate at all, and that she hasn't done enough. i guess her donations are only valid if she chooses to broadcast it to the world.

remember social media has only been a major thing for the past say 10 years. just because you dont retweet a picture or write something online DOES NOT mean you do not care. that mentality is so annoying. however social media is obviously great for a number of reasons/spreading awareness which is why we wanted her to post something of course in the first place but the fact that she is taking physical action is a lot more than some of the assholes who are dragging her have probably done. and we cant assume the celebrities that haven't posted anything do not care either because for all we know they could've donated thousands towards charities but were honorable enough to not share it.

moral of the story, lets not be so quick to judge everybody and stop being so reliant on social media for activism.

    just my two cents

To me, her point is pretty clear: when female artists sing about their sexuality in a way that's deemed positive or empowering, critics love it. But the moment Lana tries to weave a narrative where she makes mistakes sexually/romantically, and surrenders power to a man (who perhaps doesn't treat her well), she's crucified for it.

She wants everyone to be able to sing about their experiences without being told they're "glamorizing abuse." That's all she's saying. It's not an artist's job to be an example.

    mini rant:
she's just standing up for herself and speaking her mind. why does someone have to be "in a dark place" to be unabashed. are we so conditioned to censoring ourselves, only the incapacitated can speak their minds?

Tea. At the end of the day some fans are just super invasive and think they know it all. Don't forget that in the past Lana dealed with people breaking into her house, sleeping in her garage, stealing her shit and the list goes on. Imagine having people you don't even know assume you're having a mental breakdown because of some instagram posts? The entitlement...

i'm really missing when the only thing people had to complain about was sean larkin, hawaiian instagram moms, and her mother's day posts. this is actually nervewracking for me.

yall she said what she fucking said... criticize her for not being elegant and careful with what she wrote but everything she said is absolutely valid!

Y'all can police her words but this is the raw unfiltered lana yall been begging for, she said alot of ppl will be scared and she'll NAME them too hssdjdj but seriously all these alt/pop girls came from her fucking artistic womb..like the cultural impact and reset this woman caused with the amount of hate and gate keeping she got from those first 2 records from music critics and feminists and even other artists like Lorde
with all these other women in music who haved benefitted and used lana as a source of inspiration (camilla, hasley, billie, Kali etc) who can express their sexuality and femininity or angst while getting accolades and praise from the media while she was shunned for it..shit im fucking mad for her too y'all srry im heated

Also, I hate that everyone is trying to undermine Lana's experience. Maybe they weren't around for the early days, but everything she said is so true. The amount of criticism she got for having lip fillers and singing about her pussy.. If all of that had happened in recent years, it would be a much different story and people would probably be eating it up. And I think that's her entire point.

The fact that NFR got so much high praise and nods to by critics and the media while being one of her most removed from 'ldr persona' where she put her femininity on the back burner tells you enough and shows the double standard she gets judged by, for example people like Anthony fantono not taking works like UV seriously (which has some of most gorgeous production and wordplay imo) because of the way she's presented herself back then

I feel like one point people are missing is that she is specifically talking about the backlash she received from critics, other singers and writers. People were saying Ariana, Beyoncé etc. received death threats and all this horrible stuff but those didn't come from the people she is calling out but from awful stans, racists, misogynists etc. Critics and writers didn't tell Beyoncé to not be outspoken about police brutality but praised her for doing so. Writers and critics didn't write Ariana Grande death threats for Thank U Next but praised her for being open about her emotions.

None of this was ever addressed to EVERYONE. It's just like... if it's not about you stop being offended. It's like men being offended by "all men are pigs" if you're not (or think you're not) great, no need to be offended, no need to write a paragraph on "nOt aLl mEn"...

I do agree that this shouldn't have been posted as is because it's missing clarity and there are certain parts distracting from the main subject matter she tried to address... so I think Lana has smth to learn and also if this was read by anyone before she posted it i dont know what the fuck they were thinking letting her do those name drops. Cause take those out and there is no issue here.

I do agree she shouldn't have named women like Nicki (who received/receives intense hate and scrutiny for being sexually unapologetic and much like a pararell to lana was not taken seriously in music and the rap world for having theatric persona and having to dial it back to be taken seriously despite being one of the most talented female mcs in the game)

but she said what she said.. lana is just telling her story with no filter no carefully thought out words no pr machine behind her... i dont believe there was any malicious intent to be racist and bring down women of colour i think she admires these women and use them as references because she probably personally knows them but this is just my two cents as a poc
