Exactly what i’m saying. She called others a whore, most likely an underage Lorde, and now suddenly has a problem with the issue she contributed to. Even if it wasn’t about Lorde, there’s still a large speculation that it was and lana’s never bothered to clear up.

I think Lana unnecessarily is playing the victim, as she doesn’t take responsibility for her actions and keeps name dropping artists. I have to agree with @@Diamond Whore, she had no problem calling Lorde a whore and basically liking a tweet about self harm too. You can’t ask for respect when you did that too. It comes off as hypocritical. She should respect others if she wants to be respected and admit that what she did was not 100% right, she will never tho.

Just because Lana is not a professional pole dancer that doesn't mean people have the right to call her a whore. That's what she's talking about: they were both making art, but one was extremely criticized while the other was praised. I get that Lana and Twigs were using pole dancing in very different contexts of imagery, but they were both doing it as a prop to further their art. The same goes to her rant about music: when she sings "he hit me and it felt like a kiss" people go wild and call her problematic, but when Rihanna sings "it beats me black and blue but it fucks me so good" she gets acclaim and a top 10 hit. Why?

So I'm one of the people who took issue with her original post (but not to the extent of withdrawing support or canceling her or her music)...that video this morning had me in my feelings. She looked so so so down and drained.

She got to the point where she is focusing only on the bad comments made to her.
So it doesn't matter if there are people in instragram chat groups wanting to make good comments, those comments will not make her feels better.

It became clear to me that she really is not well for focusing on that kind of energy, and again, it doesn't matter if you are a light-filled fan who has the best comments to make her feel good, she needs her own time to improve.

Since the first post more negative comments have come and it is obvious that she did not focus on the positive ones, because she is not a person who lives in illusion.

The fact is: this is affecting her mental.
So 'cool' that leakers are saying that they going to leak more, I will remember the faces from who support those actions.

no i think you're totally right, she is obviously deeply triggered at the moment, something intense is happening for her that we obvs (and rightfully) aren't privy to.

Trust me. The phone number of every person living in the US is online. We did this experiment with a friend groupchat I’m in and all their numbers and their family members were there, on different pages... It’s scary how easily is to get so much information about someone with just a click

I had a more thoughtful post about a parallel universe*, where she dropped different names in her initial "cultural question" post, but that post ultimately got scrapped and devolved to this one:   Loving her is hard; keeping up with this thread is harder. Fuck it, I love her.
*in the parallel universe (where my post was posted, not where she used the names), the names were:
Alice Cooper, Chris Isaak, and Frank Sinatra

I don’t know why but her statements remind me of when Lana made this post years ago

the forum has LONG moved passed this point, but a lot of ppl on here were saying her BTD era was merely a persona and I just wanna remind us of this tweet she sent to NPR:

Here’s a little sidenote on your piece – I don’t even relate to one observation you made about the music. There’s nothing uncooked about me. To write about me is nothing like it is to be with me. Never had a persona. Never needed one. Never will.

so regardless of if it's true or not, she claims she never had a persona. I personally think there's power that comes with reinventing yourself, but apparently that's not what she did. she chronicled her experiences into her work. BTD definitely felt like nostalgic storytelling though, but that's not to say it wasn't all inspired by her life.

she definitely has never been okay with people coming for her art and work bc it's personal to her and I'd like to think it speaks for itself without much speculation. I hate that it's continuing to be hated on after her most critically acclaimed work yet with NFR!

As a soft/delicate woman I always felt glad someone like Lana made it big. What she says is so relatable. It always seemed like there is only space for loud or outspoken people. If you aren't like that, you are perceived as weak and, especially as a woman, it is your duty to show that you are "strong" and impose yourself. This reminds me of what Susan Cain said in her TED Talk titled "The power of introverts".

I'm so here for poet Lana! It's a living dream for a literature student and fan

The submissive woman has not always been championed by the patriarchy, it has been forced by the patriarchy. It's about choice. She wants to choose to be submissive, not have it forced upon her. She’s absolutely right when saying there needs to be a space for fragility in the feminist community. There's been a prominent focus on being a strong, independent woman and clearly she does not see herself in that image. It's forcing her to be something she isn’t. The same way a woman can be pressured and forced into a submissive role. Women need a space to be whoever they want to be and do whatever pleases or displeases them.

when she talked about fucking people in the industry, Fox News slut shamed her. And just because we can't see it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Other people have said it and other people have denied it but it’s true, I’m only seeing negative comments about Lana here

"When I get on the pole" correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Tropico (2013) the last and only thing she's ever released that showed her pole dancing.

I'm really confused. I've been around since BtD and I don't recall anyone calling Lana a whore or her having a "slutty" image. Like, when? She has so many things she could actually complain about in terms of how she is perceived but that's not one of them.

Some of what she says is valid, but she's still failing to realize that these other women have been criticized as well. But the response to the recent post is also proving her point - people are so quick to jump on her just for expressing a few opinions that they don't agree with.

The most hurtful part about this is to see people attacking her music. She had gained so much respect as a musician and artist and now she's being made fun of again.

I swear, every time I'm just forgetting about that post (as I'm sure many others are), I get an insta notification and bam she's there with another "one last thing"... I understand she's upset and feels like she's been wrongly accused of being a racist. But this is the social media age and a time where we all have to be aware of our words and actions as well as maintaining a level of political correctness. It's unfortunate that her words have been misinterpreted by a mass audience but that's her responsibility, she wasn't misquoted or taken out of context. It was her post on her platform.

At this point she should just move on and let it go. Or, release a statement (get it proof read Lana) apologising for the tone or misinterpretation of her last statement and clarifying what she wanted to say in a clear and concise manner. Don't be saying stuff like "but they called me a white bitch", accept your privilidge and be more clear in the future.

Plus, I think it's in poor taste that every time she addresses this issue she somehow manages to announce a new poetry book, or album release date or album title. Don't let people think you're doing this as a form of hype or promotion either Lana.

On a side note, after the controversial post and the whole racism scandal. I think it's probably for the best that she doesn't call the forthcoming album White Hot Forever.
