if she reworks it i think it would be so cute if she sampled the MUSICMAFIA tag

I feel like she probably just watches them and geeked out when she saw them. Lana's still a normal person even tho she's 37 and famous lol

Something else I found from awhile back, forgot to post it here. I'm sure some other people were already aware but I've never seen it discussed. Her "lanadelreynevadaalbum" SoundCloud account, created in March 2010 and it uses the same profile picture she had on Last.fm:

There were seven public tracks still available for streaming in May 2011, but they were all taken down by ~September 2011. Fun fact: Each song (except Kill Kill) had a unique cover art, and all were uploaded on March 22nd, 2010

Maybe you'd find this cool @Surf Noir

I agree, with this drop especially. Except the shirt that’s supposed to look like a campaign shirt with the titty pic I guess. I was confused what the masquerade masks and the rear view mirror had to do with Ocean Blvd. like there’s so many cool designs they could’ve done for this album (ocean pics, candy necklaces, peppers, tacos even lol)

girl its gonna take a lot more than that to damage my speakers. i've listened to so many bad quality bootlegs from the 70s super loud and my speakers handle it just fine and they're vintage. maybe newer speakers aren't as durable or something. like its a valid thing to be concerned about but its just not relevant to me and i'm fine with that

Cherry blossom, NOTG and living legend are cute for unreleased demos but NOT for release on an album... they should have at least been properly mixed or reworked. And despite the fact these 3 songs desperately needed reworked, she chose THUNDER which didnt even need it. Furthermore, she could have at least re-recorded the vocals for Thunder so there wouldn't be audible mic bleed from the original demo (which actually had superior production??). Overall the album features some of her worst vocal performances - so many off key and off beat moments on songs like Arcadia. The mixing on the album as a whole is appalling. Textbook , Black Bathing Suit and Wildflower Wildfire also feature dreadful percussion which totally ruin any vibe the songs had going for them.  I have so many issues with Blue Banisters - definitely my LEAST favourite album Lana has ever released by a mile. I appreciate she was going for an imperfect, messier, more experimental sound but still... Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd achieved the same vibe but a million times better.

We know for a fact that Lana has said, multiple times, and in multiple ways, "But some of that [BTD] production! UUgghhh."

I do think she would have stayed somewhat on that course, as she did with 'Paradise' and songs like 'Cola,' but about that time she had her public feud with Lorde and said that Lorde criticized her but then stolen her 'sound,' so I think she was happy with the general 'Paradise' production and only took a sharp swerve from it with 'UV' because she felt Lorde had stolen her sound. At the time, I remember thinking this was a huge boner move on Lana's part, that she should have 100% stood her ground. She would have ended up wiping the floor with Lorde.

I still hate this woman and her weird ass music & her absolutely hideous persona for this era

Original Por Vida cover remains superior. That black and white one doesn't fit the vibe of the EP at all.

2015 - Original release, I think it was replaced due to a dispute over image rights with the artist.

shortly after release until 2022(?) - replaced with back cover

2022-2023 Only Girl music video screencap 1

2023-present - Black and white Only Girl music video screencap

Quoting this old ass post but honestly I feel like ever since he pulled the stunt where he posted a bunch of snippets for WFWF she was probably done with him

that was incredibly cringeworthy looking back on it.

I'm amazed this thread is still alive and breathing.

I've got time today. So... storytime:

I'll never forget the Amoeba meet & greet where one of her fans made fun of me behind my back when we were outside in line, thinking I couldn't hear. I later saw them and their friend group cut everyone after we got inside, and they got to the front when she performed. Or her assistant cutting me off when I was overly excited telling Sky I almost didn't go since I read the Amoeba announcement tweet in my college class (I wanted to finish and say I could have just went straight home since my schedule ended early that day- but now I'm here!). Her assistant misinterpreted that, cut me off and said "What?! You skipped class?!" No bitch and I also was not talking to you lmao oh and she was super condescending too while she removed the booklet from my CD case to hand it to Sky Then the two girls behind me in line started chiming in, excited, saying they skipped school for this (they were probably still in high school; I don't blame them though, they were sweet). So Sky just chuckled awkwardly and signed my booklet, "Stay in school???"  When I saw the YT video of the event after, I literally cackled when I saw clips of Sky taking pictures with fans when security was on our asses before we got our shit signed, telling us that we were not allowed to take pictures or have anything other than our booklets signed. I was not expecting so many people to be rude this day. Ugh.

Fast forward to a few years ago and I make a video pointing out how Sky has been promising to release new music then gaslighting her own fans when she doesn't pull through, and Sky's MOM actually comments on it saying I got shit wrong. Yeah, sure. The posts I provided as evidence and my own memory was fake, I guess.  I had to block her comments because she kept writing unhinged shit. I ended up deleting the video anyway because I was getting "Oh, yeah?! Well you're WRONG, the album is coming" comments after she finally released "Downhill Lullaby", and I can own up to when I'm wrong. Can't say the same about someone else though...

Well, now look where we're at? Still blaming everyone but herself for her situation. I tried supporting this woman's music throughout the years, had a few weird/awful experiences, and some delulu fans are still defending her. I can't.

Blue Banisters is my least favorite Lana album. I kinda loathe it as an album overall. To me, there are just very few highs and some of her lowest lows. And it does feel like she just came up with the style of Blue Banisters, Wildfire Wildflower, and Text Book, but didn’t have much more to add, so she just threw in a bunch of unreleased songs that didn’t fit in elsewhere. Idk, it just feels messy, unfinished, underdeveloped…

I do listen to a good amount of the songs regularly because I made a “Blue Chemtrails” playlist which combines my favorites from COTCC and BB. And that playlist does fill a niche in Lana’s discography for me of just slower, calmer music I can have on in the background. But I still have a love/hate relationship with some of the songs I even have on this playlist (Blue Banisters, Wildflower Wildfire, Black Bathing Suit).

I know this isn’t a Chemtrails thread, but it’s hard not to compare them when they came out the same year and when I associate them with each other. Even with Chemtrails having quite a few weak tracks and only being 11 tracks total, that album still just feels so much more focused,  developed, and purposeful than Blue Banisters does. The first three tracks on Chemtrails kinda obliterates the very large majority of songs on BB alone.

All that being said, I’m just glad Lana has created Ocean Blvd because Chemtrails and BB had me questioning my trust in her artistic vision a bit, which isn’t a good feeling when you’ve been a consistent fan for a decade and have never really been disappointed. I still appreciate that BB exists and I can listen to it, but another part of me thinks I would’ve been happier as a fan if it was never released. But it’s Lana’s career and vision, not mine. And i feel bad complaining about having more music when I could’ve had less, but also, quality > quantity.

lana's songwriting was always personal, she was always one of the greatest songwriters of this generation, the critics don't understand her past work because they can't comprehend anything that isn't digestible and mainstream, especially made by a woman who may have her own thoughts, experiences, and perspectives on certain matters, nobody should make art for critics, the charts, radio, social media, etc. it shouldn't have to be for any of that, she should make art for herself first and foremost, anybody who has a problem with it doesn't have to listen, she will/has found her audience
