Y’all we are the album campaign. A human experiment. Lana hasn’t needed proper marketing for years because we’re crack heads. Like it’s absolutely insane. The woman could breathe and Poland would know in 20 seconds because of the gays.

The plumber arrives at Lana Del Rey's home. "Where are the leaks?" he asks. The singer points nervously to her iPad.

If you've hated four albums in a row from an artist, it's okay to acknowledge that they might not be for you anymore and it's also okay to stop checking for them so you don't force yourself to listen to music you hate. Born to Die and Lust for Life will always be there for you.

maybe listen to the ALBUM first instead of judging based on 3 songs and a couple snippets ?

jesus some of you are just insufferable, miserable, never happy… like shut up and start complaining once the album’s out

News flash, not everyone that lives outside of the US is in a state of dictatorship where free speech is strictly prohibited.

I have some feeling Lana is experiencing some internal slut shaming, fueled by societal media slut shaming. Clearly, AW is somewhat sarcastic in the same way that Boarding School is, where she's saying she's in the back of a club doing crack. But also, putting AW next to Ocean Blvd, it makes the title track make more sense and solidify what I was thinking when I heard it for the first time. "I can't help but feel somewhat like my body marred my soul" The entire beauty standard set by men/media (who, according to Lana on A&W, also might call her a whore), she's wondering if she takes control of that beauty standard and what she sees in herself, if she'd be forgotten, like the tunnel under Ocean Blvd, which was built to be at one time, beautiful with "mosaic ceiling, painted tiles on the wall". Would shen then have beautiful value, even if she's forgotten? And then on ocean blvd, she goes on to say, "Open me up, tell me you like it, fuck me to death, love me until I love myself" as if she's saying she's been inside this box and only when he finds her beautiful (or media finds her to be beautiful or her poetry, lyrics, what have you), they've already ran over her so many times that she's trying to figure out how to cope with herself from that initial running over, how to love herself. It goes along with A&W too - "it's not about having someone to love me anymore" is tragically sad, spoken by a woman who may not believe she's worth being loved by her lover or the media. I believe it's mostly about the media rather than a guy, but it all has that connotation that at first glance it is about a man but it can be applied to the media too.

"I mean, look at me, look at the length of my hair, my face, the shape of my body" She knows she's beautiful, but physical beauty in this business makes you seem from an outlooker like some cheap whore who fucked her way to a music deal. I guess this goes along with Fucked My Way Up To The Top, which may be why I'm pulling my own comparisons to UV right now, aside from this being another experimental sound from her. And then she goes on to talk about how she's been raped (which may have multiple meanings to it, whether she's talking about sexual assault, looking at how the media has absolutely fucked her, you could say that was a double entendre for that entire experience.) "do you really think that anybody would think I didn't ask for it, didn't ask for it, I'm testifying, already fucked up my story" which is true. After SNL, she didn't have a chance at redemption, she was fucked right from the start and when women experience SA/R they're told "You asked for it, you wore a mini skirt, you wanted it" or something along those lines. And in both contexts, I could see how invalidating that can be. She's shown us from the very beginning, whether in exaggeration or not, look at Tropico and what story that film told. It puts into perspective some of her other lyrics that I never really thought too deeply into. G&M, "Looking to get fucked hard, like a groupie, incognito, posing as a real singer, life imitates art" is one of them. Putting it next to A&W and Ocean Blvd, it kind of represents a path of a story she's been wanting to tell her entire career.

Someone else has mentioned how it reminds them of Bare Feet On Linoleum too

    "But alas.
This is a real life. And it’s been a real fight, just to stop my mind from committing treason.
    Why, you ask?
Because she told the towns people I was crazy.
And the lies, they started to believe them."

Idk what I'm saying, maybe I'm analyzing too much into it (i'm sick rn, so maybe that's it) but the further we get into this album, I think a lot of things are going to fall into place and make sense.

Also, a paragraph isn't an "essay." Just wanted to put that out there!

If we could stop generalizing others, putting people into categories, and letting others enjoy or critique music without labelling, we all would get along much more. Are there people who tend to instantly fall in love with new Lana music? Yes. That doesn't mean they haven't been critical towards Lana's music or aren't being objective. Vice versa! Not everyone is being edgy if they share a valid critique about a song. However, we all should work on being less judgmental towards other people's perceptions about music. It puts other people on this forum on defense mode and it leads to pointless fighting and chaos. Just because a song doesn't resonate with you lyrically, doesn't mean people are blinded by the hype. And like I said, vice versa; just because you really love a song, doesn't mean the track should be immune from criticism. We all should work on expressing our own thoughts and opinions on the music, and stop worrying about other people and putting them into unfair categories that creates wars of ego. End rant.

Ugh you guysssss. A&W is just phenomenal - I know I’ve made like, 5 different posts just saying that. But it’s the utmost truth. She did not hold back at all - sonically, melodically, lyrically, all of it. I obviously loved the last two records so much but I haven’t felt this way about a song since I heard Venice Bitch.

Enjoy the music and don’t let meaningless discourse and nitpicking get in the way. Focus on what’s to love, which is that we got a fucking amazing 7 minute track!

Man Lana really came through for the fans who were heavily sexualized too young and just kind of ran with it for too long. Labeled as whores by the same people who we rejected find me at the club jimmy beam

I feel so bad for newer fans who don’t have the lived experience of being a longtime fan of Lana - because having witnessed the trajectory of her career and the direct culmination of that into these new songs (A&W especially) is just so satisfying.

I hope that doesn’t read as condescending because I really mean it in the way that this record isn’t just a mere ninth album release. It’s the result of deliberating on years of LDR lore - the two new songs (and likely this new record entirely) will reframe existing conceptions we’ve had about LDR’s world.

I didn't like it at first either. But after reading the lyrics, it added a bit of context as to WHY she would mumble the lines. They're confessional and dark. Topics that some might feel too self conscious to talk about. Being 33 years old and still having to sneak around bc guys would rather keep you as a secret than to be seen with you in public. The fact that women sometimes arent believed when they are victims of abuse (especially after the johnny depp trial)
That's detrimental to one's mental health, and she's whispering it bc it hurts enough to almost break her.

My gosh, I really just wish the utmost happiness and love for her. "When's it gonna be my turn" hits much harder after hearing this track

I can’t stop thinking about Lana saying in the Billie interview that Norman was about world building while Tunnel is about straight vibing while in the meantime she has never been this visceral and brutally honest ever.

I adore Norman (one of my favorite albums of all time for real) but lyrically speaking it’s much more polished and contained while Tunnel so far sounds like Lana offering access to a stream of consciousness so complex that it’s full of thoughts and feelings most people are afraid to express out loud. Two singles in and we’re already meeting a version of Lana/Elizabeth that is questioning her traumatic upbringing and how that filtered down to her life as a grown up where she’s confronting and dissecting her own specific coping mechanisms and revealing the toxicity and darkness behind them - while all of this is happening, she’s repurposing her persona as Lana Del Rey and all the imagery and symbolism attached to it and chaotically stripping all the allure down. Which is truly mind-boggling is her ability to own up to her choices and give new meaning to her decisions as a Elizabeth, the human being, which by itself adds so much to the LDR mystique and universe. If Norman is indeed about world building, Tunnel so far seems to be about finding peace in watching it all fall apart.

It’s so incredibly complex and layered and the fact that she equaled this to “straight vibing” is sending me. Truly the greatest singer-songwriter alive.

Kind of upset by how stoopid this fanbase is. No critical thinking, just beats and vibes I guess. (And yes, I’m talking about the Tik Tok kids).

I hate to be a brat and a gatekeeper and I love when Lana has success but some people truly don’t have the brain they need to be listening to her music

it’s a fun coincidence that asmodeus was driven away by burning a fish … when fishtails is actually her asmodeus anthem
whoever summoned asmodeus is going to be so happy
