lili liked a post in a topic by Embach in LANALYSIS: Relating Songs To Known/Assumed Relationships
I listened to Your Girl many many times today after a long time and it got me thinking - whom is Your Girl really about? and the "been gone for three years" thing too, like I know it's about her fame but the song isn't about Barrie and it doesn't seem to be about that Jim/cult thing either right? at first I thought it was about her ex Rob (or Ron, I kinda forgot his name) whom she wrote Yayo and Heroin about, like he died in early Jan 2011 and she wrote that song in late 2013 so it kinda would've be almost three years since his death, so he would've been gone for three years...but like who has been gone for three years - Lana or the guy she's referring to? or is it about her Lizzy days? and what does Versailles have to do with it? Like did she really mention the palace in France or is it a place in the US with the same name? idk just thinking thoughts and probably overthinking it, as always

Pretty sure it just refers to their relationship.. that there weren't any ulterior motives, they really loved each other and were just happy in the moment and were just together for the sake of being together, they did it for the "right reasons", for each other

Lana’s stupidest lyric is “what if someone had asked Picasso not be to sad”. Not only is it cringey, it’s utterly nonsensical. You can’t just ask someone “not to be sad.” Picasso was a raging alcoholic and would’ve just told you to fuck off. It’s the sole reason I barely listen to Blue Banisters bc that line pisses me off, which no Lana line has ever managed to do before.

Omg she looks so beautiful here. The dress reminds me of that dress she wore in Dallas 2018 during LA To The Moon Tour

Listening to Tori Amos’ “Abnormally Attracted to Sin” album, and I would most definitely die if Lanita cooked anything in the vein of it. Magical, transgressive, hazy…

I can see why Justin Parker likes this one so much. It encapsulates so much of that wild, "americana, let's go and explore the endless possibilities of the big unknown with our bad boy boyfriend" feeling that lends it's magic to many of her pre-BTD songs. It's funny. This song is kinda forgotten by the fanbase, because it leaked very early, so we all probably played it to death by now and moved on. But I randomly got the urge to play it again and again today and wow...it's so good. Lana simply has too many wonderful songs to properly appreciate them all. It's overwhelming sometimes, and there is more coming! But this song is something special.

Yeahh, it's "hit and run the world". I knew it was that before I even checked this thread, because I have a basic sense of hearing. After listening to the song more times it obviously becomes clear taking into account the theme of the song, "on a spree taking over," "wanna be a soldier".
I just don't even understand reasoning for anything but.

This is not about a one-night stand. This "king of the industry players" was obviously helping her career with some perks on the side. Or maybe he was getting some perks on the side before he decided to help her career. Jet-setting to Europe a lot (her three-year "world tour"), trying to get that success. You and me, on a spree, taking over.
