I'll just say it.
Blue Banisters is my favorite Lana album.
It feels like the curation of a poetry collection that we've never seen before and echoes her entire career, maybe even sacrifices the older versions of herself to some extent. Long gone are the visions of grandeur, Los Angeles illusions, the obsession, and what we have is a stripped Lana that's not only her most authentic but confessional. Her focus here is simple but chaotic, poetic but nonlinear. It's what you see is what you get.The songs she wrote throughout that never saw the daylight (Nectar of the Gods, Living Legend) are here and I truly believe she always wanted to release music like this. Perhaps, she knew that she would one day. So, on that note, Blue Banisters is the beginning of something really new and, as a fan who saw her in January 2013 at an intimate Soho House NY performance for the first and throughout her career (18 times), I feel extremely moved and proud of her for the steps she's taking in her music.

She is a woman with grace and strength. I'm proud to say I'm a fan til this day.

While Lana Del Ray (commonly known as AKA) wasn’t Lana’s first studio album -- that honor goes to Sirens -- it was her debut on a record label, and her first album to be sold commercially. AKA’s history was turbulent, which probably owes to much of the mystery and misinformation that surrounds the album today:
 
 
As noted above, the formation of AKA brought about many demos and outtakes that didn’t make the final cut, including Lizzy’s collaborations with producer Steven Mertens. Lana’s promotion of her music during the AKA era included interviews, frequent live performances, and perhaps most distinctively, the creation of self-assembled music videos for most of the tracks on the album, much like the “Video Games” visuals that would propel her to stardom in 2011. We’re so close to the release date that I’m personally rooting that it doesn’t leak… that way, she can avoid the small fraction of extra streaming of people who wouldn’t maybe check out the album if they listened to the leak first.
 
And before someone says only freaks like us pay leaks any mind, I can assure you that’s not entirely true. When COCC leaked, my twitter feed was full of people talking about it, from diehard hardcore stans to casual fans to sporadic listeners to even haters… so if a leak doesn’t happen, we can have all the streaming our mother deserves!
