I cannot believe there’s an entire album surrounding this song

My only complaint is that the ending is a bit abrupt..I wish she ended it in a VB way by introducing a new line or something  or a fade out would’ve been iconic tbh

    A&W is incredible.

She primes the listener so brilliantly with the opening lines' mention of her childhood and her mother. That serves to function as a precursory explanation for why "it's not about having someone to love [her] anymore," and why she now is embarking on the experience of an American Whore  –––– which is then developed throughout the song and depicted as a byproduct of her early formative experiences AND how heavily she has been berated by the media. She has internalized projections of herself, which came from her externalized interactions with others (in her early childhood and in her career 2011–onward), which has changed the way she conducts herself altogether. Sociology queen!

The lyrics are confessional, yet so coded at the same time. She has mastered the art of revealing so much while keeping things completely abstract.

"Jimmy" is SUCH an unexpected, yet welcome sonic twist. It is a true melodic embodiment of the completely uninhibited quality she sings about in the first ~4 minutes of the track.

And let's talk about the killer one-liners that evoke Question for the Culture (which is now becoming a centre-point for lyrical interweaving between songs in the grander LDR narrative). Lines like "Do you really think I give a damn what I do after years of just hearing them talking?" / "Do you really think anybody would think I didn't ask for it?" / "I'm testifying, you already fucked up my story on top of this," / and "Did you know a singer can still be looking like a side-piece at thirty-three?" are just feral. I use this phrase very sparingly, but – she ate.

This album is going to be a new pinnacle in her discography.

This is the type of song that needs time to settle and fully sink in - there's just so much going on in it, and it's all over the place, but even on first listen I was like "This is obviously quite fantastic"...

The first half is amazing & the second is so unexpected and really gives me like BTD + laptop demo vibes- in the best way. Im so beyond excited for the album now
I feel like the album is going to be chaotic and full of a variety of sounds, kinda like LFL on steroids. I can only imagine what the Tommy song & Taco Truck x VB sound like. So so so excited

I immediately thought this sounded like her 2009/2010/2011 unreleased stuff. Songs like Put Your Lips Together, Wolf Tshirt, Us against the world/Party Girl/Daytona meth. Even the lyrics are Lizzy, mentioning Jimmy and SW references.

Not my most favorite. But still a very good song and I love the style. Made me more excited for the rest of the album.

I'm on about my tenth listen, and the changeup doesn't even sound like two different parts anymore, just the logical progression of the song.

This song is honestly thebomb.com, and like mark my word, this is a top tier Jack Antonoff produced track.

However, I'm really not a fan of the inaudible/mumbly vocals; I understand that this was a deliberate choice on her end, but it kinda grinds my gears. The first half is sooo good, could've been even better than it actually is. But all in all, I'm perched.

i feel like lipsters are doing their normal routine of all jumping and being like "THIS IS HER MAGNUM OPUS!!!!!" for the week after a new song drops and half the ppl saying it are gonna switch the moment it settles

(also am i one of the only ppl in here who massively prefer the first half to the second..)

the only thing I can complain about now is that the production is too synthetic for me, I like more real instruments like strings or acoustic guitars

while a&w is still a bop, COCC and BB have become even more valuable to me

the raped  line reminds me of fiona apple’s ‘for her’ where she sings “well good morning, good morning, you raped me in the same bed your daughter was born in”

I don't have that problem, but I did have a feeling before and I still have it, that COTCC and BB will only be more valuable and reach a classic status (as the albums before them) as time passes by and people realize how big of a masterpiece they both are.
