I thought about this song today and came up with my interpretation.
I think this song describes Lana's relationship with things outside of herself which cause distress in her life (mainly the media/her record label) and lets us know how her experiences make her feel.

Why you make me work so hard
To put on that evening show

Here Lana talks about the problems she faces in her career as a musician. She loves to make music and she does tours, but promoting the songs is a drag for her, she is shy and a private person, doesn't really like to be the center of cynical, hurtful attention. She perceives many people to be this way. She does not enjoy some aspects of her career, yet she still has to do it.

When you know that all I want
Is to make your money grow?

She is addressing her "money hungry" label who always want to change her and push her to be more commercial, they are dissatisfied with her product. The label benefits from having her and she would be willing to work with them if only she was supported in what she wants to do.

You're like a baby who don't got nowhere to go
I feel you eyeing me, you keep it on the low
(on the low, on the low)

They act childish towards her - she has a contract, they don't let her go, but they don't want her in the way that she is available to them. They want to change her constantly.

But I can't let you in
And I can't keep you out
I wait for life to mend
    But it never comes around
And I can't hear you call
And I can't hear me [shout?]
I wait for it to break
    But it never comes around

The chorus addresses the media scrutinizing her and exposing too much about her life, her past, her family. She doesn't want people to dig around in her past yet she is helpless against them, she can't stop people from doing it. She waits for life to mend, to get better, for better things to come but they never seem to arrive. She wants to have a break where she can be more at peace but she only yearns for peace, it is not her actual experience.

    And I'm lonely
    I'm lonely
    I'm lonely

These events make her feel lonely, being watched by the eye of so many people who misunderstand or judge her. Sometimes you feel the most alone in a crowd. That is how she is. She doesn't find someone who she can trust or someone who relates to her, even though it is imporant her to have a person who she can hold on to.

Why you make me take that shit
To put on that evening show
When you know I don't need it
Better than your booze and blow?

Again she laments that with her profession as a musician she has to do many things that she doesn't enjoy. Making music is her favorite part but there is a lot more to it than that.
In the two final lines, she says she doesn't need all the mainstream success that some would like her to have, it is not a priority for her. She likens those achievements to booze and blow, they put you high but they are also hurtful, they bring even more attention to you and she already had enough of that. She is worried that more attention would cause more problems.

    (Scatting)
    Feel like I'm falling apart
    (Scatting)
    Feel like I'm falling apart
    (Scatting)
    Feel like I'm falling apart

Because of the bad experiences, her stability is broken, she is falling apart, she doesn't know how to react what to say, and often gets into uncomfortable situations which give her even more bad reputation. (like the I want to die story) She feels destroyed but she is helpless and can't do much against it.

    Would you tell me?
    Would you tell me?
    Would you tell me?

But I can't let you in
And I can't keep you out
I wait for life to [win/mend/end?]
    But it never comes around
And I can't hear you call
And I can't hear me [shout?]
I wait for it to break
    But it never comes around

    And I'm lonely
    I'm lonely
    I'm lonely

She is alone - misunderstood, and helpless. Truly a sad song describing the abandonmnet she feels in her position from which she can't really escape.

I love it! I thought it was ft. Lana not a purely Lana song. I hope this is the direction she is moving towards!

I think I wait for life to win is right because it rhymes with But I can't let you in.

    Also it's:
You drag me down, you try to keep it on the low.

it's not that i expect to be disappointed in the new songs, i honestly think they're going to be excellent, it's just that i fear i might feel frustrated to hear 4 songs i already know in a row, and later, 6 songs i already know (although, granted, some of them might have been changed) in a row. i feel like the album might be very well structured and make perfect sense, but on my first listen, i'm afraid i'm going to be super excited when the 4 unknown songs play one after the other, and a bit bored when the rest plays. but when we get used to all the songs and nectar of the gods has the same status as sweet carolina (that of a regular track on blue banisters), i'm sure it'll feel more balanced! and most of the people who'll listen to the album never heard the leaked songs, so that's only going to be a bit of a problem for us

Just from the song titles, I'm very confident that the unknown songs will fit well with the rest of the album. There is no reason to expect a disappointment.

I was bit « bummed » yesterday when we found out the Sweet Carolina was 3:30. Plus I prefer a short but perfect song to a lullaby that drags on and on. Besides, Cherry is 3:00 and is perfect as it is. So maybe SC won’t disappoint.

I feel like the extended drum outro of Chemtrails title track was low-key intended to be an interlude, it allowed Tulsa Jesus Freak to start playing and it flows nicely,The trio-BBS Is a more intense and apparent version of that which she may have been aiming for in COCC. I really like this whole instrumental interlude+bop track thing she's doing in her albums

Last night, Lana Del Rey was seen arriving to Churchome in Beverly Hills, California.
Lana has been known to frequent this church for their Wednesday night services, and this is her first time being spotted attending since before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. This church is frequented by other celebrities such as Justin and Hailey Bieber and Demi Lovato.

    before 4:17 - the good
after 4:17 - the bad and the ugly (with trap beats)
    herself and the music

the melody played at the interlude is from the soundtrack of the movie "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (titled "The Trio" like the interlude)

    just my thoughts

    Hi all,
I've moved the fighting & spam posts out of this thread. Please everyone, I know tensions are a little high right now with the album just around the corner, but please don't fight each other! & If you feel that you must, I ask you to please take it to the DMs or at least to another thread. I try my best to keep this whole site as drama free as I can, and all this fighting littering the Pre-Release really isn't enjoyable to see. I was away most of the day yesterday filming on set, but I'll be here the rest of the day to keep an eye on you all. If you recall, in past eras when things got out of hand, we would temporarily lock the thread to give you all some space to cool off. Hopefully it won't have to come to that again! Let's keep it all calm, cool, and collected and let's not try to start any unnecessary drama.
Anyway, we know the track lengths now! Black Bathing Suit being the longest song on the album was definitely a surprise for me - for some reason, I anticipated it being shorter! Some goes for Beautiful which is rather short, yet I expected it to be long. I can't wait to listen to these new tracks! x

    Omg my insider teaser era!
I filmed for the Paramount+ reboot of the series 'The Game' yesterday, which will premiere in November. I've also recently filmed for Queens (ABC - Oct 2021), Monarch (FOX - Jan 2022), and Atlanta (FX - S3 2022) which has been exciting since I took a little hiatus from film in 2018! Feels nice to be back in the scene again. Building my reel for when Lana decides to cast me as a beachgoer in the Black Bathing Suit video

Ok but can we talk about? One of the most beautiful things she EVER wrote
I never meant to be bad or unwell
I was just living on the edge
    Right between Heaven and Hell
    And I'm tired of it
