There's something about this whole thing that doesn't sit right with me.

I’m so fucking nervous about this
    When is she deactivating?

I want to say that Arcadia is perfectly placed after Blue Banisters in this album. The first song slows down the sense of hearing, it's nearly like time is standing still, and after that you hear Arcadia more attentively and with a slower and more intense feeling.

I thought that too, the reason may be she wants less attention and people coming up to her in public so be not being on social media she is seen as less approachable or something.
Could be with her sister having the baby and her becoming an auntie she would like to take the kid out and spend time with her/him without being bothered.

I've been thinking about something for a while ... It doesn't seem strange to you that took Lana about two years or so to release records. And suddenly in a matter of 6 months we have had two albums? In BB, half are songs that we already know.
This reinforces the theory that she is going to sign for Capital Records. Perhaps to end her contract with Interscope she should release this record. The cover album has been announced for almost a year, and has not yet seen the light. This may suggest that Interscope disagreed with the project, and same with the second book of poetry.

Of course the timing to leave social networks is strange, just before the album. Also in this era there has been less promotion than in COCC, and there was little there. We have known everything thanks to the insiders.
It is also very strange that in the BB era we did not receive many of the vinyl versions in Europe.

We already know how Lana is. She was not comfortable with social networks. She uploads photos and after a few minutes delete them. I think the best thing is to take some time for herself and disconnect. Also at the beginning of the year, she said that she was going to be away from SM for a while. And she came back weeks later, and surely that will happen again. All we have to do is respect her decision and support it.

    Her circuits are busy. Goodbye!

(I'm sad about it but also respect)

truly i don't blame her. the things i've seen people say about her are absolutely repulsive.  People treat her like she's a jukebox. No matter WHAT she posts people are bringing her down, body shaming her, calling her racist, shitting on her music. She had said in an interview that the negativity she receives interferes with her creative process and it makes sense. How can anyone live a normal life when there's constant hate being thrown at you, i would absolutely break down and lose my mind so she's really strong for that.

Everything is still up. Is she just going to stop posting or will IG and Twitter just go away.
    How to disappear.

Part of me feels like she's gonna forget that she posted that and end up keeping everything up

Listening to Text Book this morning and reading this thread and I have some thoughts. Just a note, this might be a COMPLETE REACH but
First, the lyrics "I guess this is really the end I've never felt jealous before this year but I'm jealous now" really hit me differently after her announcement last night. Maybe she's referencing the experience of watching her friends live a normal, fame-less life on Instagram. We know she wants privacy more than ever and is probably sick to death of the trolls commenting on her posts. Her thoughts, body, music are all open to be critiqued in the comments of her posts and I'm sure she has read some hateful things. I don't see this announcement as spur of the moment.  @lustforlife said BB is "the end of Lana Del Rey". Maybe de-activating her socials is just the first step down a road of seclusion and letting the music speak for itself.

Secondly, we know Text Book starts the album. Lana said BB is about "what it was like, what happened, and what it's like now".  The lyrics "and then there was the issue of her I didn't even like myself or love the life I had"  stuck out to me. I see these lyrics as young Lizzie speaking about not liking herself or the emotionally unstable home she lived in as a young girl / teen. In some ways, the creation of the Lana Del Rey persona saved her from that life (or maybe it felt this way to her in the beginning): it brought money,  instant adoration and freedom to build a new life for herself. Years later, though, the "Lana Del Rey" name has also brought a ton of baggage: think pieces, 0 freedom or privacy, twitter hate, etc. Maybe deactivating is just a way for her to begin tearing down this image of Lana Del Rey and only letting the music shine through. I could see her being very reclusive (like Fiona Apple) and popping out for interviews once every few years.

I don't think she will ever retire from music but this record is definitely a turning point for her. I'm excited to see the story she paints in BB and hoping it all comes together.
And maybe this is just me dwelling too much on the fact that I won't get a "Lana Del Rey posted" push notification for the foreseeable future

can't believe she really is leaving social media but i wish her all the best

how f*cked up is this world that this feels like she just announced she's gonna die? she's literally only deactivating her socials, she's not out of this world. i'm gonna miss her random unfiltered posts, her false release dates and beautiful selfies! but i'm excited for new mysteries, new art and surprise album drops.
    WE LOVE YOU, LANZ ❤️

Numbers… I was thinking about that. She’s gonna hit 21 million followers… I can’t even imagine what a huge platform like that can signify to one singular individual - especially to someone like her, who exposes a lot of herself in her art. Someone always true to herself, for better or worse.

I love her. I just wish the best to her.

The video seems definetly weird, but truly, this is the best thing she can do. Social media can already bring huge mental health issues to people who lives non-celebrity lives, can't imagine how it may be for someone with a global public relevance and near to 20 million followers (that's more people than the population of many countries). Hope she's gonna be better after doing this.

(Not Uhauljoe liking the post haha <3)

    oh... wow.
well on one hand,  it's completely warranted that she's deleting her social medias - she already has a bad relationship with the media, and there are too many fans who are disrespectful and take advantage of the close relationship she has with her fans. which is also why i think we're all so sad about this, she has always had such a intimate relationship with fans. and nowadays, especially with covid, social media is one of the only ways to maintain that. but at the same time, it's probably good for her. the internet can be and often is a cruel place. i don't want to overanalyze or read too much into this, but i do think the video was off and she seemed distressed. it wouldn't surprise me if something else happened in her personal life that caused this - she kept saying things about "trust", and "keeping her circle closer", etc. - i just hope she's doing okay... i guess we'll just have to watch and wait for what will happen next.

I 100% respect her decision and I'm sure it is for the best but the wording in some parts was so weird.
She needs privacy for some new projects but why would she need to deactivate, I mean just don't post about it . She is still going to (sadly) have paparazzi and such following her so is not like that would change anything...
Obviously I believe in what she said but I also think there's something behind the scenes. Maybe it's indeed something about labels. If her contract ended with Interscope (after releasing BB) and she changed to Capitol maybe they are controlling her accounts and she's taking advantage of the change by taking a break off social media while everything is getting done.

it’s really come to this huh  i hope we have plenty of archives of her posts, i would be devastated if it was all lost

i hope she’s alright and if she’s not, i hope she’s working towards doing alright. i stopped posting on social media a while ago and it did wonders for my self image etc. so i think this will be good for her.

she just sounded so sad in the video…i thought i could see tears in her eyes  whatever prompted this decision must’ve had a big impact on her so i’m sending sooooo much love

(but imagine if she comes back within, like, a week. she’d make a whole circus out of us. we’d have to rename to clownboards)

This was so unexpected... And the video really has a strange vibe, as some people have observed. She was posting normally about the cover album, about the passport photos and even followed someone on Instagram - In no time did I see it coming today. Personally, I had the feeling that maybe she wasn't even thinking about it and suddenly, for some reason, she decided to leave. But, that's it, if she needs time and it's going to do her well, we must respect her decision and continue to support her in whatever way we can.

this reminded me of a bbc think piece abt lana's "struggle to be mysterious in pop", specifically this quote

i don't think that's the only, or even the main, reason for her to do this but i wonder if it contributed to her decision. a lot of hw actresses do the no social media thing & it only adds to their glamour & mystique, and she's been burned so many times bc of it maybe she just thought 'fuck it, let's try it another way'

(agree that she seemed odd / sad in the video tho, my first thought before even reading comments here was that her speech was slurred & she seemed like she was about to cry throughout the whole thing)
