The poetry is unmatched, I think this and the final chorus with the choir are my favorite parts

I also love how she always puts it towards the top of the album (either the 1st or 2nd track). It’s almost like a declaration

Just realized the DNC polaroid photoshoot is kinda similar to the album one. Just her lying down on the sofa and on the floor
It's the album photoshoot (demo)
Also I think Mike is in one of the pictures... maybe DNC is one of the early songs they wrote together for the record

okay i got really into this analysis so it's in a spoiler
the only takeaway that i think is worth sharing outside of a spoiler is that "camarillo" might be referring to the camarillo state mental hospital, which "hotel california" has been rumored to be about. whether or not hotel california is about camarillo, i think it makes sense for lana to reference the two in the same verse!

She fucking did it! No social media; no promo; no MV.
EDIT: Oh, I just saw @Marius' post about this, lol! Anyway, this is amazing! NFR had a full first day btw, while these are DYKTATUOB's second-day streams!

I was thinking "When's it gonna be my turn?" has a double meaning... 1) When's it going to be her turn to be loved unconditionally, and 2) When's it going to be her turn to be forgotten and sealed like the tunnel under Ocean Blvd. ("Open me up, tell me you like me, fuck me to death, love me until I love myself" following and is applicable to both.)

This also sounds like she's describing a coffin. As all living and functioning things meet their end in the ground and are eventually forgotten.
Don't forget me

Wow. The lyrics are sadder/more complex than I thought. Comparing herself to the lost tunnel, feeling like she's stuck in a cycle of being used and forgotten, how she deeply desires true love, and wants to be seen, but feels like no one wants to get to know the real her, how perhaps her relationships have meant more to her than her partners. There's so much emotion in this song, and don't even get me started on "Don't forget me..." repeated throughout. My heart.

The fact that she says fuck me to death so many times in such a sad thoughtful song and makes it work is wild

Her asking the audience if they knew about the tunnel under ocean boulevard being synonymous for her asking if they know about her and if she is still relevant or cared about yeah i cried

The eerie imagery of an abandoned 1930s tunnel, full of subway tile, once-glittering is so powerful. Every time she sings don’t forget me I feel the ache like I’m watching that tunnel, in slow motion, go from its golden, shining prime to being forgotten and decayed and unknown to the public. Don’t forget me can be an intimate and personal statement that you say to a partner, or it can whispered into the void, a pleading for the world, like did I matter here? Will my art withstand time, will it withstand anything? Don’t forget me, remember I was here and remember that, for however long, I mattered. It makes me want to sob. I think it’s some of her most powerful imagery yet, and given that she’s the queen of painting a scene, that’s saying a magnificent amount.

i know it literally just came out today but i definitely feel like this is a song i'll enjoy and come back to throughout my whole life, it's just such a nice, pleasant song, even with the striking lyrics how can she make a lyric such as "fuck me to death" sound so romantic and ...humble? matured? i'll be 40 and thriving while listening to ocean boulevard, enjoying all of the happy, beautiful things my life has to offer!

The lyrical content of the song is just so complex, relatable and heartbreaking. The usage of the tunnel and references to it are done in such a compelling way. I really am finding myself falling in love with the title track so quickly

the sexual lyrics would probably feel so cringy and out of place if anybody else sang them, but lana makes them sound emotive and heavy, she is really doing it with this new track!

Did you know that there's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard?
Mosaic ceilings, painted tiles on the wall
I can't help but feel somewhat like my body marred my soul
Handmade beauty sealed up by two man-made walls
& I'm like
When's it gonna be my turn?
When's it gonna be my turn?
Open me up
Tell me you like it
Fuck me to death
Love me until I love myself
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard
Therе's a tunnel under Ocean Boulеvard
There's a girl that sings "Hotel California"
Not because she loves the notes or sounds that sound like Florida
It's because she's in a world preserved, only a few have found the door
It's like Camarillo, only silver mirrors running down the corridor
Oh man
When's it gonna be my turn?
Don't forget me
When's it gonna be my turn?
Open me up
Tell me you like me
Fuck me to death
Love me until I love myself
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard
Don't forget me
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard
Harry Nilsson has a song, his voice breaks at 2:05
Somethin' about the way he says "Don't forget me" makes me feel like
I just wish I had a friend like him, someone to give me five
Lennon in the back, whisperin' in my ear, "Come on, baby, you can thrive"
But I can't
When's it gonna be my turn?
Don't forget me
When's it gonna be my turn?
Open me up
Tell me you like it
Fuck me to death
Love me until I love myself
There's a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard

The title track made me cry again this song is stunning, it's a classic
I said this earlier today but Ocean Blvd gets better with every listen...wow
The last time she sings Don't Forget Me & then she disappears into the music while the choir keeps singing
Lana we will never forget you

i’ve been ruminating over the second verse of tunnel ever since it came out
“there’s a girl that sings hotel california
not because she loves the notes or sounds that sound like florida
its because she’s in a world, preserved, only a few have found the door
its like a camarillo, only silver mirrors, running down the corridor”
gives me chills every single time i listen to it. i think it may be my favorite part of the song
