I feel bad that people are giving them are hard time about the article on their page. Sure, it would’ve been beneficial on both ends for them to clarify it wouldn’t be an interview/review to those asking in the comments, but at the same time we had no reason to expect that coming from such a small unknown publication - especially since Lana herself noted in the comments that she didn’t know what would be said in the article. I think fans just got their hopes up too high since we don’t know too much about the record from elsewhere, and were just blinded by the hopefulness that there would be new information shared.
It’s a fine article to inform people about Lana and the record who aren’t super-fans, but we really shouldn’t have expected anything more. So, please don’t send hate directly their way, it’s sort of undeserved. Complain here, sure, but I feel like subjecting them to negative comments won’t help much x

Maybe except for the vinyl production, this rule is not precisely true to every artist out there (see: Charli XCX's how i'm feeling now, 2020) as it all depends on the vision of the artist combined with the label's schedules and plans as you mentioned, and some definitely take shorter periods (or some are relegated to, er, minor priorities? Labels can do artists dirty sometimes)
BUT knowing Melanie, her big plans and her vision, I think this is probably the shortest it could take for her to do the whole album/era rollout. It's happened before. K-12 was put on hold for 2 full years (it was finished in 2017) because of the film. With her I know there's no other way, her vision is too ambitious, and it usually takes her long time.
To be honest, I don't think we'll get new material for the next 12-15 months.

I work within the Same creative field and I’ve never gotten the scrapping of songs especially if they’re a high quality.. from what I hear it’s mostly label pressure? But you’ve just invested in time and now you want to scrap it even though only 500 devoted fans have heard it likely? And you can still rework it? Dumb

the best option is to do what Miley Cyrus did, ignore it and it worked for her-half of an album leaked a year before

Hi, me popping in. As someone who is a creative in the music sector, things can go through multiple changes, reworks or whatever else because a lot of us are perfectionists. Also after the final tracklist has been decided upon and the tracks have been mastered, there's a period which is at least 4 months long of gathering promotional assets for the album (music videos, photoshoots, behind the scenes content, ect.) Also if Melanie is planning to do vinyl as well, there's a fat ass delay on vinyl. Last article I read said that a band were waiting at least 8-10 months due to delays. Additionally you've got to account merch, and CD. If she's doing a film for this album, that too. So for all we know it could be right around the corner with no fault of her own, But some labels are very money hungry in the sense they'll refuse to fund something if they don't see it as profitable or commercially viable. So we just gotta keep waiting tbf, not much else you can do.
Also @ the leakers stop being dicks and leaking tracks from her third album. You're slowing down the album's release, whether you realise it or not. Many artists and labels will scrap songs after they've been leaked

Yes, but much less of the childish themes since Cry Baby's grown up now. Melanie's been going for a more mythological inspired aesthetic for this record— which you can hear from the leaked tracks (involving dragons, fairies, sirens, etc).

She wrote like 20+ songs with Kinetics & One Love in between Oct 2020-Apr 2021, but then pretty much everything leaked which was… disastrous to say the least. CJ Baran is the current main producer, whom she finished the final album with last year.

I do think it’s funny when ATRL users make fun of LB when ATRL is basically stan twitter but worse cause most of the people participating in the constant comparing of succesfull women’s achievements on that site are grown men and not young teenagers bjsfjdj. Very sad actually,, I can’t imagine being like that in 10 years (I’m 20 now). I guess ATRL is somewhat the original stan twitter and the men on there just never grew out of that mentality. ATRL can be fun at times tho but some of the threads really make me cringe like what’s the point in comparing Beyoncé’s album sales from 15 years ago to Billie Eilish’s  they’ll compare Anything as long as it’s by a female artist.

I think it really shows how important a good label is to an artist. Like, this song is miles below MS quality but still doing 100x better because of all the promotion her team did. She made the right choice moving to Capitol
