In my understanding of this song, it has always represented the themes of financial and creative freedom. I believe Lana wrote this song at a point when she realized she would never have to compromise her artistic vision for financial gain, thus becoming entirely autonomous in her creative endeavors. I perceive the first verse as an embodiment of this concept. Lana is symbolically transitioning from the "ordinary world" where people conform to their jobs for a paycheck, into the "reveal of her heart" – the realm where she can be the artist and person she truly desires to be without financial constraints. The lines "Undoubtedly/That will for certain/take the dead out of the sea/And the darkness from the arts" appear to address how this newfound artistic freedom may distance her from more casual fans ("the dead out of the sea") and "the darkness from the arts" dismisses allegations that her work is a product of industry manipulation (reminiscent of "sewing Frankenstein-ed black dreams into my songs" in 'Grandfather,' which also explores these themes).

The chorus seems self-explanatory, but the line "Gone is the burden of the Crowley way of being" in the second verse is particularly intriguing. Aleister Crowley was the founder of the occultist religion called Thelema, emphasizing the pursuit of one's true (pre-determined) purpose in life. When Lana mentions being "free of that burden," I interpret it as her liberation from the quest for a singular life purpose, enabling her to create, live, and find happiness – something that isn't always highly regarded in our contemporary societal structures, where you are expected to constantly be working towards something bigger and better than before. I've often seen Lana as something of a hedonist, and I believe this line also alludes to that aspect of her persona.

    Just my late night ramblings

you guys are talking down on covers as if her covers of summer wine, blue velvet, goodbye kiss, doin' time, some things last a long time, heart-shaped box, roadhouse blues, the end of the world, the good life, where the boys are (coming soon! ...i hope) and buddy's rendezvous don't exist  i think lana is perfectly capable

also... to say that a.i covers aren't really any different from actual covers recorded by the artist is just so, so wrong

this is really sad to be honest, it surely may not be a 100% fair comparison but you can clearly tell how her left arm is edited, it’s basically a straight line in the final and the raw one seems much more realistic. i know her body also used to be edited when she was skinnier and it also looked quite off, but here it starts to look like it’s entirely different and that’s why i find it sad

after change from the demo lyrics, people categorise this song as ‘happy’ or ‘fun’, but personally i think it still has some melancholy to it. she does sing about relationship that she views as fun and not painful, but it’s still only a reflection of the past. and from perspective of someone who has found the same beauty and life in their relationship that has ended, it’s really heartbreaking to reminiscent those happy times when they are gone. this was my partner’s favourite lana song and i remember listening to it with them and me being so happy, that song being our song. and today it makes me cry so much.

if it's just some sort of sick prank, it's still really unfortunate that she has to be caught up in that instead of just living a normal life like a normal kid, social media can be so evil and some people are just horrible

that is so, so sad, so young, she barely got to experience her life, it's especially sad considering the fact that her online image and infamy was definitely exploitive, i hope she's in a good place

    No fighting here, please

    Just some thoughts:

Let The Light In is one of her best songs and collabs of her career. It has a quirky warm cozy domestic vibe with also the Beatles and hippie and nature and 60s, it's like Tomorrow Never Came 2.0 but not too much alike.

Candy Necklace is perhaps top 10 worthy ballads of her career, also song. It's like a 'murder ballad' but it's also like a lullaby. It deserves to be a soundtrack in a movie too.

A&W easily one of her gloomiest songs ever lyrically. It's like folk-grunge-piano-rock-acoustic-trap-trance. One of her best songs of her career.

Ocean Blvd is amazing but the live version of the song is even better. Brilliant track tho.

Paris Texas is has such a cute instrumental, it's like such a raindrop-esque ballad, I can't describe it's kinda a song melodically I would hear in British or in other Western European soap series.

Fingertips, hate it or not, has her best lyrics. She spilled everything she wanted to talk about. Same with Kintsugi, although Fingertips is more doomed thematically.
