Deadpool1 liked a post in a topic by pawn shop blues in Man Attempts to Kidnap Lana
Also, I imagine/hope this goes without saying, but for anyone who is upset about this situation (and that's obviously understandable) and thinking about it, please don't attempt to contact this man via Facebook or anywhere else. I have no idea how long he'll be behind bars for, and while I hope he gets help, there's absolutely no guarantee he will. In reality, jail time and a restraining order is the most that will probably happen, and that can only do so much. The last thing anyone needs, especially Lana, is for him to come back to his Facebook page, see a lot of angry responses to him (or honestly any responses at all from fans--based on his other posts, he clearly seems to be dealing with one or several intense issues and we have no idea how he will interpret something), and elevate the situation anymore.
Again, I hope no one would, but I know this is upsetting news and sometimes it is natural to want to act on that feeling, especially when the situation involves someone we really value like Lana, but please, for Lana's (and her crew's) safety, and even your own, just leave him alone and let him sort his issues out.
Channel those feelings somewhere else, like here or writing supportive messages to Lana on social media or whatever else you want to do, but not to him.
He is the literal definition of someone we don't want to upset.

I said this earlier, but Lana will be fine. She's always been controversial and has survived FAR worst. SNL, manufactured look, saying she wished she was dead - all this when her fanbase was far less than it is now.
This also is not nearly as big as Madonna v Gaga, Taylor v Kanye, etc. It just happens when you're a celebrity, particularly a musician.
This too shall pass. It's already not as big of a story anymore - that's how today's news cycle works.

Not to be an optimist, but I see far more dislike or nasty comments about Radiohead than the other way around.
Most of these people are people that never liked LDR anyway. You don't think Taylor, Ariana, Gaga, Katy, Miley, etc get any hate? Not one pop star is universally loved and I think something people need to get a grasp on. If someone says something rude about Lana, that's ok. You can still like her.
Eventually this will pass - the SNL performance was far worst backlash and she was just starting out. This isn't that bad.

She would have more to lose if she was lying. Bad press and shit.
Of course she isn't lying.
I have nothing but respect for my president.

I absolutely love what she said last night Regardless of what happens, she wants the fans to know that she meant what she wrote when she wrote this record and she still wants (all of us) to head for that better place. The song might get destroyed, removed from the record, whatever (who knows) but things would still be okay. She won't curl up into a ball and take this as a sign that things aren't supposed to change and get better.
I know I sound so freaking gushy, but this song actually means a lot to me and I'll defend it to the death, however its sentiment is enough.

Does anyone know when the court hearing is?
Also - it really does suck that this is happening to Lana, regardless of which song, but it really stings to know that THIS track in particular, one that really is personal to Lana and is a symbol of her growth, is coming under fire. It's really sad, and I truly feel for her.
However, we must hold on to hope to have a happy ending, as Lana says. This could be the universe's way of really driving that point home, that Lana is destined and sure to win this case, which would also make Get Free a symbol of triumph and victory, and persistence, which connects to her "lust for life" - her journey and desire to grow and evolve for the better, which is the main sentiment of Get Free.

I agree with what someone said earlier - relaxxxxxxxx. If Lana was so hurt by it, she wouldn't have probably talked about it. She's fighting it. I don't think our girl is as fragile as you guys think. Also, a couple other things:
1) She's not the first artist this has happened to recently. Anyone remember Gaga/Madonna - and that got FARRRR more attention than this, which brings me to my next point.
2) You may to remember we all live in a bubble of LDR. Most people that comment nasty shit are already moved on to the next thing by the time you read it. No one is that personally invested, which brings me to my final point
3) 4K dislikes and 2MM views are not that much. In the grand scheme of what gets likes/disliked and viewed on Youtube that's not even a sizable sample of the world population. It's probably not even 1%
We also don't know if this will go to court. And just because you see some nasty Lana comments I can count just as many (if not more) nasty Radiohead comments. So everyone, just relax. Please.

Lana tweeted about the case because she wants her stans to attack. She has set the dogs on Radiohead and they WILL DIE FOR IT.

I’m a huge fan of both myself. Lana and Radiohead are my favorite artists. This is just sad and so fucking petty. Egotism at its best! I agree and hope she doesn’t get a huge backlash. She honestly doesn’t deserve it. Die hard fans in each camp will have their views but hopefully some will be smart enough to see how frivolous and ridiculous this is on Thom/Radiohead’s part. Fuck em honestly! Lana’s endures and she will continue too. Nice try though! -

Either way, this is not a good look for Radiohead. I never thought Radiohead was this petty and money hungry, so it's more disapointing than anything. So Radiohead fans can come for her, but that doesn't take away the fact that Get Free is a very personal song to many Lana fans, just like Creep probably is for some Radiohead fans. I just hope she doesn't get too much hate for this.

Okay so as some of you know, I'm studying to be a lawyer and this is what I know:
Chord progressions are not protected under the law because they are generally universal products and easy to copy -- it's like if Hershey or Toblerone said that they were the only manufacturers allowed to make chocolate. Radiohead can't sue based on chord progressions. Musical theorists have a saying that "everything is a remix." It's impossible to make a song that has no echo of a past song. The legal standard for copyright infringement is "substantial similarity" which is a relatively hard test to prove. Radiohead's attorneys need to prove that the songs are substantially similar in order to win, if they are going for copyright infringement, which is a lot harder than just proving that the songs are "similar." "Substantial" is the key word. Wasn't Radiohead sued by The Hollies for this song? And they lost? If so, this gives them very unsteady legal ground to stand on. I'll update as I think of more.
Update: also, intent doesn't matter much in the context of copyright infringement; whether Lana/Nowels etc. intended (meant) to copy Creep is irrelevant. If the court finds that she did, in fact, copy the song then it won't matter if it was a mistake or not.

Y'all are making me worried. Maybe it's nothing and she's just being the usual drama queen.
She has a concert today, let's see what she is up to. Stop jumping to conclusions so soon.

You Can Be the Boss would definetely be in it too. It would be cool if Angels Forever, Starry Eyed and JFK made the cut.

I thought I saw a discussion thread about a Lana perfume somewhere else?
I don't think she's interested in designing clothes that much, maybe she's more into lashes and makeup, but she's a writer after all and it would be cool if she wrote a poem book. I don't really like poems and mostly don't get them, but Lana is a very good storyteller and mood setter... at least in her songs.
So yeah, maybe a book with poems would be fun to buy?
Sorry, I think I went off topic here.

excerpt from radio 1 interview, for anyone wondering 'da fuck happened with love'
Launching the album at a one-off gig in London, she’s forced to abandon her performance of the opening track, Love. Earlier in her career, she might have frozen. Now, she just sings it acapella, with the crowd stepping in as her own personal choir. “I’m not exactly sure what happened, but I think my keyboard player was playing the wrong chords,” she explains. “I was leaning into him and saying, 'That’s not it, that’s not it’ and he was like, 'That is it, trust me’. "I listened for 10 seconds and I was like, 'Damn, I definitely can’t get it’. I couldn’t get it in rehearsal, either. So I just told him to stop. I feel bad — I was kind of abrasive. "But that song is at the heart of the record and I thought it’d be weird if I didn’t do it. So, luckily the people who were at the show knew the words and they sang along with me.”
