Earthquakes happen regularly down in California
Walls shake, but I don't move, I put the record on and enjoy it
I dance, dancin' in my underwear, I let the 70s rock and roll me
Laurel Canyon, can you feel my power?
Overdose on opium, yeah
Just say I've gone crazy
I don't know what's overcome me
Just say you're my baby, but
I'm feeling tired and I think I'm done, yeah
You can say what you really want
You can say what you really think
Just say goodbye to the sweet Pacific
Goodbye to your lonely queen
Earthquakes happen naturally down in California
Walls shake, but I don't give a shit, 'cuz dying's better for ya
Fuck life, everything here sucks, there's no music anymore, yeah
I pray that he takes me in
The next big 9.4, yeah
Just say I've gone crazy
I don't know what's overcome me
Just say you're my baby, but
I'm feeling tired and I think I'm done, yeah
You can say what you really want
You can say what you really think

Seeing actual romantic songs from her about someone who deeply loves and respects her would be nice for a change.

fingertips has REALLY grown on me might be top 3 now. mental illness, worrying about future children, uncle dave, mommy issues, grappling with mortality, and she still got in under 6 minutes. it’s not a short song by any means but the speed and efficiency with which she was able to mass trauma dump on this track is so impressive

I’m still digesting this album but I honestly think it’s great. I love that album feels dark and a bit unhinged both production wise and thematically.
The Grants sets the tone perfectly with the shift from the joyous back vocalists intro to the somber piano. Additionally, all throughout the album there are these layers of different whispers and vocals that make it feel so disorienting and cacophonous in the best way.
What I also loved was how cyclical this album felt. Not only because of the subjects she tackles like her personal history but also because of the inclusion of past melodies, instrumentals, lyrics and songs. It was kinda like a supercut of what Lana Del Rey is / was in the past few years. A conclusion and the start of a new chapter for her of sorts. All this (+ the use of many other samples) also gives it a mixtape feel (ala caprisongs not blue banisters) which is cool.
It’s very eclectic but i feel it stills holds together through its chaos and the specific reoccurring themes and production flourishes. Jack said ‘honeymoon from hell’ and I see it.
My only gripe is that the tracklist of the middle section is a bit slow. I wish the trap wasn’t exclusively backloaded because it was already introduced by track 4 with A&W. It could made it more dynamic and would linked the different sounds better.
ANYWAYS HERES R MY FAVES:
A&W - Folk electronic trap, it was designed for me to like it.
Taco Truck x VB - CHILLS… perfect outro.
Peppers - SO fun! I knew Tommy and Lana would be good.
The Grants - Epic, dark but hopeful.
Paris, Texas - Magical and fragile.
Fishtail - That autotune damnnnn. Track is kinda salem coded .
The rest are also very nice! I would say that kintsugi and Margaret will need a bit more time to grow on me but all the less good.
thank you for reading of you read this lol

I know it would be tough to get tickets but I hope she plays at smaller venues like she did on the NFR tour. I don’t know if I want to do the pit with teens given how people’s concert etiquette has declined since the pandemic. I did it for LA to the Moon and it was a war zone. I also don’t want to be in the 100s at an arena though since I want a good view.
I just wanna be able to get a drink and buy merch in peace!

so stressed ab tour rumors with the amount of traction she has gained on tiktok vs the last time she toured i do not want an eras tour situation…..
i remember in 2018 i was able to painlessly purchase (GA) LA to the moon tour tickets for a reasonable price and without any bots to worry abt/tickets selling out immediately

This is an interesting read. Any thought about this theory about Fingertips being the continuation of Drive By?
Who could Aaron Greene be.. The one who died from an automobile accident? Or the one sentenced to death row according to Drive By? This is very confusing..

I think she meant it isn't a good "song" in terms of what an actual "song" is supposed to be (catchy, defined chorus, etc)... not anything to do with Fingertips' quality.

there's an explanation on genius that makes a lot of sense:
"Lana almost drowned while going swimming, until her neighbors came and saved her. Seemingly revealing that this was a suicide attempt.
Her Uncle Dave’s obituary mentioned his connection to Rhode Island and fishing.
To “swim with the fish” is a common phrase that means to die."

I think it’s the latter too. Especially she since put “but it’s not your time” in the same verse
