If we could stop generalizing others, putting people into categories, and letting others enjoy or critique music without labelling, we all would get along much more. Are there people who tend to instantly fall in love with new Lana music? Yes. That doesn't mean they haven't been critical towards Lana's music or aren't being objective. Vice versa! Not everyone is being edgy if they share a valid critique about a song. However, we all should work on being less judgmental towards other people's perceptions about music. It puts other people on this forum on defense mode and it leads to pointless fighting and chaos. Just because a song doesn't resonate with you lyrically, doesn't mean people are blinded by the hype. And like I said, vice versa; just because you really love a song, doesn't mean the track should be immune from criticism. We all should work on expressing our own thoughts and opinions on the music, and stop worrying about other people and putting them into unfair categories that creates wars of ego. End rant.

Does a song need to be technically perfect for me to think that it's perfect?

Nobody's going to catch me overanalyzing every aspect of the song and trying to find things to complain about instead of idk appreciating music history being made

Don’t know if it’s been discussed before as the site was crashed for me but lots of people say that jimmy is jim from uv and I don’t really agree with that. Jack called Lana jimmy on a previous insta post and Lana singing about a younger lizzy seems to make the most sense to me. First of all jim from uv is literally a cult leader so it wouldn’t make sense when her mom finds out he’s doing drugs☠️ he is scarier than that. But if jimmy is Lana and Patricia founds out lizzy is doing drugs it would tie the boarding school era of her and also why she’s fucking up big time.

Idk. I love Jack’s production and his work with Lana. And clearly Lana does, too. So maybe I’m not the right person to chime in here. But we basically have a full album with him again, luvs, so… buckle up, haha.

okay but don't u think that Jack's songs might sound similar bc he has a certain style of production? and that style of production is what makes him so successful and sought after. Just like u can tell a Lana song is a Lana song, you can also tell when a song is produced by Jack. Thats what makes him special. Obviously Lana continues to work with Jack because he aligns with her "amazing vision and artistry" rn so idk what ur talking about.
PSA: I am not a Jack stan lol

    exactly

plus, one of the things I love about Lana’s more recent music is how unpolished/raw it can be (and still sound good). Studio chatter left in, sounds of drumsticks being put down, laughing, sneezing, vape puffs… it’s just fun. When it sounds this good and works this well, it doesn’t have to be super polished. All the background noise and sound in A&W is really enjoyable and intentional , if you ask me.

Man Lana really came through for the fans who were heavily sexualized too young and just kind of ran with it for too long. Labeled as whores by the same people who we rejected find me at the club jimmy beam

Yeah, I'm not saying A&W is better than anything Pink Floyd or Radiohead ever wrote, I'm just saying the soundscape reminds me of progressive rock/alternative rock albums. Not that deep

I’m pretty sure people are drawing the comparisons to sound, right? I definitely see the rock band from 70s or 90s comparisons in the first half since it’s straight up folk and a bit progressive. They’re pretty glaring. I’ve heard influences from Hotel California and Going to California with the guitar, and even some Trent Reznor with the piano.
I don’t really hear Melodrama in the first half, second half it’s is definitely there though. But tbh I hear more Masseduction, like Hang On Me.

I can make comparisons to any band/artist that I see fit. The introduction reminds me of On the Run by Pink Floyd and Climbing Up the Walls by Radiohead. This is a forum, and I'm allowed to express my thoughts as well. Not exaggerating anything.

I never understood this argument. It would be another story if they sounded, like, exactly the same but overall I like most of his produced songs even if they share the same whatever as long as they’re not a complete copy. I remember someone pointed out how Kevin Abstract’s Baby Boy was a “recycled” The Louvre by Lorde because of its guitar intro and I was like…I don’t really care since the songs are different anyways? They’re both amazing songs  and also it just takes away from the artist’s own choices themselves. I feel like most producers have a signature sound anyways and we just know Jack’s more because he’s producing for everyone these days

So true  I really feel like this is going to be the album that finally silences most of the haters in general, too many people are going to love it so there will be no audience for the Lana bashers
