i’m just a tad confused with some of y’all who have stated (multiple times) your dislike for the record. which is fine, everyone has their own opinion and taste level. but my question is why tf are you in this forum still if you’re not a fan of the new music? all you’re doing is bringing the vibe down and making it more of a miserable experience. we get it, you’ve told us you don’t like it…move on and give us, who do love the new music, the space to celebrate it.

    thank you

I really want to know if it’s normal for critics to be put in a single room with bad speakers to review an album.

i do agree a lot of these reviews seemed rushed.. the most alarming thing was the guardian’s reviewer saying bb was their fav album 😭😭

I think for some people it's not just about Lana getting her flowers and more so they need them to validate their opinions, which

I wish Lana didnt care either tho

Because her entire personal life is essentially on display, why wouldn’t she write about her family. that u think her discography should be soulless and impersonal says a lot about the material U would prefer from her and the role artists play in our lives. Plus, she essentially gave it to her family by releasing it public anyway ! Take it or leave it

I knew this was gonna happen the minute everyone started deluding themselves into thinking this album was going to get a 10  from pitchfork and an 88+ on metacritic

A week before release, we’re brought into a record label office basement to listen to Lana Del Rey's new album to review. There are drinks and snacks; the crunchy kind, to be chomped on during the masterpiece. We settle in, someone hits play and the tinny speakers deliver the album without much more fanfare or care than you would playing it for the millionth time through your cheap in-ear headphones. People go to the toilet missing entire tracks, twiddle thumbs, scribble notes. We listen once, and leave to give it a rating and comment on its merit. We’re the critics, and when Lana sings “I know you hate me” on the final track, it feels pointed. But it’s a wonder that she doesn’t hate us more."

this self sabotage... this is the type of shit ben and ed shouldn't allow to happen as managers

can we please ban it from the thread? i'm sorry mods but this should not be allowed in the name of "everyone has an opinion and free speech" when it's just FLAMEBAIT. this is the type of energy that ruins the mood of this forum and makes long time members leave or not participate in pre-releases...

literally every time you don't agree with something Lana does, even something as simple as her choices for singles or leaving a comment on instagram you bring up how her managers are the problem for "letting" her do it. as if they have/deserve this sort of power over her anyway... she is a grown adult woman with autonomy and thank God for that. no one owns her and no one ever will or should. these comments are getting borderline creepy and misogynistic, please check yourself for once thx.

But that isn’t going to happen again, it’s just not realistic to expect her to want a hit era when she does not do basic promo. She hasn’t done tv interviews since 2012.
Nor is she hugely engaged in tik tok

Reviews doesn’t matter I mean look at BTD and how it was treated by critics and it’s still iconic and game changing

Her sound was never “commercial” though- BTD was string driven trip hop album with some pop and hip hop leaning moments, UV was soft rock and Psychedelic- it’s not like we were getting Ariana pop songs

    "Cosplay Poet"

She's regarded as one of the best songwriters currently. And that's enough for her and alot of her fans.
If you're seeking commercial bops and Target music, please immerse yourself in Taylor/Katy/Dua discography.

not to be rude but this is not it - listen to what she said in her caption/poem (salamander). she’s not cosplaying as a poet, she’s a literal poet. like by definition lmao. you can not care about reviews but still be bummed if you don’t get the reviews you were hoping for, it makes sense to me. at the end of the day, while i’m sure she’s grateful for us, she owes us nothing and she should make the art that feels true to her. most of us can tell the art is genuine and that’s all that matters. i would never want her to make “bops” just for the sake of appeasing *some* fans - that would suck as an artist. if you’re only in it for the bops, why are you here lmao that comment is a super unfair take

You're way out of line, bro. While dissing the critics is totally a bad move on her part, saying that she's "sacrificed making hits to appeal to critics" is just not right. Norman got glowing reviews but still had a hit (Doin' Time). Also, it's possible to make hits and still have critics back you up (look up Taylor Swift's Anti-hero) - those two things are not mutually exclusive.

okay okay okay so, hear me out, this full HQ leak without Candy Necklace has some really interesting implications for future leaks. Unless I've missed some crazy lore, that song has obviously only gone out to a few people. And therefore she has the potential to really narrow down who is involved in her process that can be trusted. Anyone with CN is currently a safe source for her and that's kind of fascinating to me.

Don't mind me, just keeping my brain busy while you guys ascend and I wait until release day

It's nice when she gets recognition and acclaim but Ultraviolence got a 74 on metacritic and BTD a 62 (while BB got an 80...) so it really doesn't mean anything lol idk why we're worrying abt all that. And also tbh the reviews have been pretty good so far?
