Such an insane episode. Definitely made up for last week.

Give Zendaya her Emmy right now. They don't even need to do the award ceremony, just give it to her. Fucking incredible. By far the best episode of the season, and by the looks of the trailer for the next episode, that one's going to be following in episode 5's footsteps.

Honestly this season is mostly just visually appealing, but the storyline itself is all over the place and things are moving very slowly because they're so focused on the aesthetics lately. I miss the chaos from season one that kept me aching for another episode. I don't think this show will last long tbh. It's lowkey disappointing lately with interesting events taking up 15 minutes out of an hour-ish episode, and the rest is just padded with visuals. They had so much potential after season one . I really hope it does recover though!

This last episode was so visually stunning but I feel like... nothing really happened?

Even though Kat was never my fav character in the first season it's frustrating to see them just back off f a character to such a degree. Like her storyline could have gone so much more interestingly. What if she got into some serious shit with one of the guys she was camping with? what if she got a stalker? I feel like the possibilities were endless and instead they put her in this dead-end relationship with Ethan who hasn't had more than two words this whole season either.

The Rue storyline is getting stale too as well unfortunately. I still really love her as a character and am invested in her recovery but episodes like this last one are way to stale for me. She got herself into some REAL deep shit in episode three with the drug selling, and in this episode it isn'y even mentioned at all? I wanted a little bit of fallout from that, you know? I mean I'm sure it's still coming but it's jarring to the viewer to have the main character make such a detrimental decision in one episode and not even mention it in the next...

TOTALLY agree that Cal and especially Cassie are carrying this season on their backs. Maddy and Nate are interesting enough with what they're given but I feel like the writers don't exactly know where to take their relationship from here either. Like, they've already soared so high and crashed so hard... why do we need them back together again? (though Maddy would clearly disagree that they're "back" )

Equally, I actually am interested in this Jules/Elliott shit and think they are both super interesting characters (and it's even more interesting that they've become interested in one another) but again I wish they would have them DO. SOMETHING. I swear to god if I have to watch another scene of them in Elliott's room just rolling around and flirting I will lose it. Let's level this storyline up!!! (I realize they robbed a convenient store in this episode and that was fun, but then they followed it up by just dumping their drug-addicted friend on the side of the road all alone at night? wtf was that? not at all in line with that these characters are typically like and really took me out of the scene)

Sorry for the rant but last episode just got under my skin. I have faith the rest of the season will recover though. Sydney is coming for that EMMY ya'll!!

p.s. I also just realized... what happened with the fez and Lexi stuff? They teased us so hard with that then just dropped it. I feel like it will probably play more into the end of the season but still... ok now I'm really done <3

They're the most interesting characters this season. I swear I yawn at everyone else's storyline. The part where Cal came out to his family made me almost late for a dentist appointment.

I was so weirded out by that. Wasn't she the confident big queen wearing Dollskill and sucking dick to random strangers? Her dominatrix storyline was FUCKED UP but so interesting. I was so looking forward to her character. Why does she suddenly hates herself for no reason? The show provides zero reason for her insecurity. Btw, her frustration in the relationship reminds me of my friend with a slutty past who felt extremely weird in a relationship and wanted to break up for no reason in the first six months. So that part is realistic.

So... she's really going to ignore and choose to not acknowledge Born To Die, at all huh?
Oh well... glad we're celebrating on here at least.❤️

I've told this story many times before, but I came to Lana a little late (November 2013), the morning after the 50th Anniversary of JFK's assassination. She was just in the air for some reason, and I think one of the Tropico trailers came out that weekend, but I kept seeing this hate for this artist who I vaguely remember had a lot of love sent her way not that much earlier.
I was in my late thirties, and thought that I'd seen it all in music. I'd been through (personally) Heavy metal, punk, indie rock, noise, jazz, and on and on. I didn't think I could still be surprised. And then I saw the Born To Die cover and something sparked in me. There was something about it. It was the opposite of any other pop record cover at the time. I can't even explain how it made me feel, and then to be hit with the Paradise Edition cover as well, which was posed and framed the same as BTD, but was so different as well. It felt like art. I downloaded the album from Youtube and put it on my ipod, and went for a walk.
The first thing I noticed was that it didn't sound like anything else I'd heard. People talked about it being trip-hop or sadcore, but I'd grown up on the first waves of those styles. This was its own thing. But it was everything. Lana's voice. The production. The music. The lyrics. The songs. All perfect. Song after song, and by the time I found myself back at home, I was up to National Anthem, and was lost in it. The shift in tone between the first and second verses - of someone finding themselves through presenting a front for people, of telling white lies about yourself, of figuring out how to get what you want. It was satirical without distancing itself ironically from real life. I was sick of songs with no stakes, and here were (so far) six songs that all were about things that mattered to the singer.
For the next three months or so, (I bought The Paradise Edition the day after I heard it), I coudn't listen to anything else. I don't mean that I didn't want to - I would flick something on, and listen for ten seconds, before putting Born To Die back on. I had been like that with records when I was twelve years old, but not since then. And back then, I only had access to about twenty records in total, and if I wanted to hear a different record, I'd have to go through the whole process of getting together some money, getting myself to a record shop, sneaking it in to the house, and finally finding a time when my parents were away and I could copy it onto a cassette so I could listen to it in my room. But here, with the whole world of music at my fingertips, I could only listen to this one record.
Born To Die might not still be my favourite Lana record, but it's the one that started it all, both for her and for me, and it will forever be a masterpiece.

Yeah, anyways even with the horrid ME, that doesn't take away from the fact that FN is a MONSTER of an era, album, and most of the sessions are 10/10s, if that's being a sell out so be it, I just wishef she managed the ME another way

I loved BB but I hope for the next record she steps it up a bit in the production department. I’d love to hear something with multiple instruments like Music To Watch Boys To.

I’d honestly be here for Rick’s comeback if and only if:
    1. He used clear vocal production (I hate the muffled vocal production in several honeymoon tracks and on BPBP).

    2. He used clear production overall (no muffled Freak like bass and no ugly synth like sounds from the 13 Beaches chorus)
