whoever made this :trisha: it’s kinda messy but extremely iconic already..hearing the chorus with the new instrumental :true:

kind of a random comparison but the song has given me I’m God by Clams Casino vibes since its release but if Jack kept the verses/chorus :shh2: it could’ve been his I’m God moment I’m afraid..(not sure how possible this would be though or if the verses were even created during this stage the song was in, but anyways)

"with or without him" him being sean" I think that is correct!

Here is an interpretation I haven't read online: I think her refers to the daughter. And there was the issue of her. I didn't even like myself, or love the life I had.

The daughter, Alyssa , is the one who outed the romance . . . Alyssa seems like a nice girl, tho celeb-struck. Could be.

I've always thought her was Lana's mother, who she had to compete with for Rob's attention. It's classic Electra Complex---textbook--stuff.

Agreed.

Actually, the whole album is so QUIET. I added a few songs to my "best of lana" playlist, and they were wedged between some Born to Die tracks. OMG, the songs are like three times quieter than Born to Die's. It's like you've gone death and can't hear well.  I don't know why they choose to mix these tracks so quiet.

But it's annoying af. Basically, you need pro headphones to be able to hear it well. If you have ordinary airpods, you can't hear shit.

Full agree. Why Lana apparently chose the entire production to come off so 'dim' and muffled is beyond me, especially on the vocals. It makes the whole album feel sleepy and distant. To me it sounds as if she were singing on the other side of the room from the mic during the whole time in the studio. And that goes for the music too.

Crisp, clear, direct, it is not.

I agree about the AirPods too, even the most current model.

And that's why this thread died, IMO. It's not because of the early leaks, it's because the album is not exactly vibrant. To use Chaotic Lipster's phrase, I don't think the replay value is strong the way it is on many other of Lana's albums, that we've literally been listening to years and haven't tired of.

I looooove Fishtail I just wish her vocals were stronger and less breathier at certain points

Does anyone else hear Kate Bush in Sweet? I can't even rank this album but Sweet would definitely be near the top :crai:

Why are people acting sorry for this thread lol, it already has more pages than Blue Banisters and Chemtrails entire threads and it's only been out 2 and a half weeks, and also has more activity than NFR or LFL had this soon after release. The album came out, we discussed it thoroughly and the majority of people adore it, and now a lot of people are spending less time on LanaBoards. Has nothing to do with the album's quality. I am personally still listening non-stop and sharing with people in my life who are loving it too, the replay value is very high. There is tons of variety, themes to explore, and details to uncover.

I agree. I am still busy listening to it and getting an opinion about it. Lana's albums always need to be listened a lot of times to be able to fully appreciate them. But that's why I can still listen to them again and again years after, they never get boring as many other artists' albums do.

I am in love especially with side C of the vinyl. Also love side A, but I have skipped this side a few times because 3 tracks are well known already. However, on side D I still didn't get used to the Angelina Jolie verse, can't say I like it and it seems total nonsense to me, lol. Maybe there's a meaning behind and I just don't get it, I don't know.

It was expensive watch it

tbh whenever lana releases an album, i usually spend less time online in general. leading up to the release its all i think about so i'm online talking about it constantly and wondering what it'll be like but once its out i'm just enjoying it. i don't really care to write big reviews and analyses, it just doesn't matter to me. sometimes i'll have random thoughts i wanna share here and there about the songs or i'll be curious about othwr people's opinions but for the most part, i just wanna enjoy the album on my own. its like i only stream it til my records show up, thwn i listen to my records instead. so i don't think people talking about the album less or streaming it less means we're all over it. its just, what is there to say that hasn't already been said? like we're not gonna force conversation just to prove we still like the album

Now I have to go reread the lyrics!

I believe that because, in the stanza above, she's just said "I guess you could call it textbook, I was looking for the father I wanted back," and whom she thought she had finally found in Brentwood (in Sean?).

But just as she's currently still haunted by longing for her father or the father archetype, she's also haunted, in 'textbook' style, by her mother, or the mother image and archetype, whom she had to compete with for her father's love and attention. Perhaps she's now seeing her 'mother' again in someone new, someone who is coming between her and the new man in her life--a member here said it could be Sean's daughter, which it could be, if Lana perceived the daughter as doing exactly what she perceived mother had done--come between her and her father in her childhood and youth. It happens. This is all classic Freudian 'family romance.'

So in a way, she's blaming all or some her adult life romantic problems on her mother, "on the issue of her," and, as we know, she doesn't have a good relationship with her mother, which she's (also) addressed on WFWF and again on OC.

65 from Spectrum Culture. I think they only count for AOTY though.

AOTY isnt as relevant as Metacritic, there's a bunch of misogynists there.
