daphnedinkley 13,548 Posted 3 hours ago i know i said it earlier in this thread but as excited as i am gosh i really do hate the title i feel like there'd be a way to keep the overall sentiment of the title but make it a bit more punchy or intriguing? maybe like idk When The Right One Stays? The Right Person Stays? The Right Person? idkkkk it just doesn't really work for me, it does give a bit of a live laugh love vibe but more than anything i think it just doesn't sound like... iconic or epic enough? u know? idkkkk it sounds like a fine song title but for an album its just not doing it for me

Sunbather Moonchaser 2,357 Posted 3 hours ago I actually love the title. Yes, it's simpler than Ultraviolence or Norman Fucking Rockwell but it's beautiful, and sounds hopeful. Also, if any of the songs have the same vibe as in the "album cover" I'm excited. The only thing that I'm worried about is that it's a wednesday, let's be real, her managers and Interscope would never let her release an album on any other day than friday. I'm fine if it comes on the 23rd of May, but I'm a bit worried that it will be postponed for some reason. I'm so excited to see the tracklist

Or The Right Lover Will Stay. Or Lover Stay. As it is, it sounds common, like a maudlin piece of advice a friend might give you when they're high or drunk and they notice that you're down—or your mother might provide to cheer you up. Did she not use man due to all the cultural fuss about "can you define what a 'man' is?", "can you define what a woman is?" To my ear, it sounds like an album title Olivia Newton-John might have used in the 70s before she became famous. If it's at all a country album, I'll retitle it Lasso. As is, TRLWS is about as far from Southern Gothic as could be. I'm honestly surprised that the artist who gave us album titles Born to Die, Ultraviolence, and Honeymoon, and songs like Live or Die, Gods & Monsters, Heroin, 13 Beaches, The Greatest, Hope, and WFWF would announce a title like this. End of rant.
Beautiful Loser 49,022 Posted 3 hours ago “The right person will stay” does sound better to me than “Lasso”, but it’s also like… very honeymoon-ish. Not talking about the album, I mean the real post-wedding bliss. But I honestly don’t mind much, she’s a countryside chick with her wild horses and gators out in the prairie, waiting for someone to stay for once and the one who does is the right person. 8 Quote LB DEMOGRAPHICS SURVEY 2024 | SECRET SANTA 2024

End of rant. i do partly wonder if its a callback to album titles from back in the '50s and '60s, some of which were often just named seemingly at random after a track on the album or that had a slightly verbose, confessional vibe. it reminds me a little of aretha franklin's album "I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You" - brilliant album, one of the best of all time, but god, i always hated that title! it feels so at odds with how i view the album itself, given that this album gave us her version of Respect, one of the biggest empowerment songs of all time! i totally agree that lana knows how to do an intriguing, captivating and iconic title, so it's strange to see her stick with this one. even "DYKTTATUOB", for all of its messy long-windedness, has that enticing and mysterious element. "Lover Stay", like you suggested, sounds gorgeous, and its just abstract enough to raise some questions and intrigue - is it a plea for her lover to stay? is she suggesting that her lover has finally decided to stay? is 'lover stay' almost like another word for a honeymoon or a couple's retreat? i like that so much more!
