I don't know if this has been discussed, but in regards to domestic abuse/heartbreak: the switch from blue banisters to green + grey banisters:
 
When you get a bruise, it is usually dark blue/ back. And when it is in the process of healing it turns grey + greenish. 

I never thought I would cry over BANISTERS  

And now my blue banisters are green and grey
I feel this on all levels of my existence

blue banisters like the complexity of actually letting someone affect n hurt you and what that might mean 

Has anyone read "The Song of Achilles"? That book left me devastated and sobbing. The line "You can't be a muse and be happy" from BB reminds me so much of the line "Name one hero who was happy" 

I’m in tears… I just went through the experience of having to let someone I loved dearly go and listening to Blue Banisters really gives me comfort but pain in some odd way. Lanas vulnerability in the chorus is so haunting and beautiful, it gives you hope almost for anybody who’s gotten away from you.

I think what's so rich about these songs is how mature they are. Throughout my four years with Lana, it really feels as though her music as matured alongside with me as I've grown up and changed, and these songs really showcase that for me. I don't know - I know a lot of people are hating everything about this release including the songs themselves, but these songs have come at the perfect point in my life and I think that I'm going to grow the cherish them deeply

This one is my favorite of the three. It's so personal and bittersweet that it breaks my heart. I find it interesting that in the end it's not her new man that's painting her banisters, but her "sisters."

i think Blue Banisters fits COCC better with how she described it "it's about my friends and family" nah Blue Banisters is more than COCC (song/album)

So I think I realized why Blue Banisters sounds so familiar - especially right around the "jenny jumped into the pool..." build up.
It's reminiscent of Taylor Swift's All Too Well where she says "cause there we are again on that little town street..." 
I think the cadence is kinda similar even if the songs are in different keys. Not a bad thing at all, but the melody did ring some bells for sure 

but he didn't tho. that's why her banisters are now green and gray so she skips it bc reminders are a bitch 

i just realized she skips springs because the man she sings about came back every may
