I’ve been a fan since 2012 and for the last time do NOT want Lana to go back to her old sound singing about sugar daddies and whatever I want her to EVOLVE and continue exploring new sounds like she used to, I know she’s not a basic pop girl and don’t expect that from her, Jesus, coming back to this thread when there’s actual news cause what the fuck 

It feels like Lana has distanced herself from her fans these recent years. And although I'm fine with that, stanning her lately has been a chore. The useless online controversies, the fake album announcements, the messy interviews, the random IG outbursts, the PicsArt endorsed covers... I used to live for her "idgaf" attitude but now it's just off-putting. Anyway... still no sign of this album. I'm wondering if it's ever gonna see the light of the day at this point.

Being disappointed in her for being unprofessional (yes, HER) is NOT the same as hating her. It's WAY past due time that we become sick of the miscommunication... it was funny at first sort of a "Oh, Lana " type of deal, but now it's just pure annoying and unprofessional. Her team should not be allowing her to post things that aren't for sure but they're too busy skyrocketing Dua Lipa to pop stardom to care about ensuring Lana doesn't lose the last people standing by her side. Just because we are fans doesn't invalidate us from speaking out against feeling "mistreated" because we are the ones buying her art and giving her a platform to share it, the least we could expect is some courtesy to stick to a date, but we're not even entirely mad about that... we're mad because she doesn't even SAY ANYTHING when it doesn't happen... like seriously? This is partly the reason I've lost so much interest in her this past year, and now it's just going to keep fans away if she keeps pulling this.

It’s not about “we have a new album that came out 4 months ago and 3 singles”. It’s about making your fans believe that there’s something coming, know that there’s nothing coming and still not say anything about it. 
And yes, she owns us something, at least some respect. 
but okay, I was not expecting this album to come at all but we always have that inner hope that keeps us believing in the possibility. 

I get that she probably announces these dates because she's excited about what she's making and wants to share a little bit of that, but I really don't get why she can't share a snippet or maybe some lyrics with a picture instead....even just "(title) coming soon" like someone else said haha
 
Like why does it have to be fake dates? If she didn't say June 1st literally the day after chemtrails came out, and then July 4th a few weeks later, we wouldn't have had this expectation something was coming 

I do not like the BLM line, because it comes off as narcissistic virtue signaling. She said “and I saw you saw who I am”, so in the end the whole BLM line is about how Lana’s man can see her virtue and how that makes her feel virtuous, and she makes the whole movement about her. Of the three songs, TB really has not aged well for me. All the daddy lyrics make me cringe, and the chorus melody is very catchy but just seems like a generic pop melody. There are still a lot of things about this song that I like, but I stopped listening to TB mostly. WF and and BB are still good though.

I can't stand another song of her complaining about fame. It was meaningful in Honeymoon, but doing it for 5 albums straight is extremely tiring 

Why does sharing an opinion on a new release have to mean we're complaining? Music taste so obviously isn't universal.

Blue Banisters feels like a continuation of COTCC... still so sluggish for me. Not a fan. Text Book feels okay on first listen. Has potential to grow. BLM line feels forced though. Wildflower Wildfire... okay, a bit better. Most of her music since COTCC has felt like it just drags and drones on, and these don't seem to be much different. Maybe I'll warm up to them.

Why do these songs feel like unreleased songs? Like I feel like I'm listening to an unreleased batch made circa like 2013-2014? (Which isn't necessarily a bad thing!) It's somewhere between UV and HM (which both had incredible production). I'm not too sure how I feel about these songs. I can't listen to Text Book, which had so much potential, because of that Black Lives Matter line. It's so awkward.

even if she has good intentions, she has made such a fool of herself in the last year regarding her completely unprovoked and insanely ignorant commentary on feminism and race and whatever tf else she was rambling about. if she has two brain cells to rub together, she should know it would be in her best interest to steer clear of anything too political. esp bc her "social commentary" and "contemplations" are fuckin NUTS.

jack just lacks complexity and individually. his music becomes very one-note, he's like the dr. luke of the late 10s cause he's so incredibly basic and reuses the same shit over and over again, he's just your average commercial pop producer. people point out work he's done amazing work on other stuff like 1989 and melodrama but those albums both have like 6 other producers so all the credit can't go to him. ultraviolence and born to die do so well with embracing other genres like rock and hip hop because their respective producers make that kind of music.

Because they're obviously not real friends. They're her token nonwhite friends. All my extremely close friends, and I've seen this in other multiracial friend groups, talk about race and all that shit very freely. True friendship gives an extremely comfortable amount of freedom that would be horrifyingly uncomfortable for 3rd parties unaccustomed to it who witness it. (idk how to phrase this properly) Good friends want to educate you but in a very shitposty 'i love you but you're dumb as shit' way. I can't explain it. I think Lana is that one white friend we've all had that feigns this fake wokeness so they seem 'sensitive' and 'compassionate'  but you wouldn't trust the bitch when the revolution came. Back in 2012, did she not have any friends that were like 'Lana, you can't play dress-up with Native American clothing because you painted houses one time at a reservation.' And donating money to them doesn't change anything. White people are always paying folk to let them be racist towards them lmao. My problem with it is that she seems to have taken it out of context. I'm not saying that she's never received unfair criticism, but the part she underlined was not what Harper's was saying. The entire sentence is, "nobody had significantly criticised Lala for "including" people of colour in her upcoming album" and that's true. Very few people (if any) were criticising her album cover because it lacked POC; they were criticising it for being an IG-esque picture of her and her friends. Yes, there probably were some leftover comments from QftC but I didn't see anyone saying "Oh my. There are no POC on this album cover!" anywhere when she posted the album cover (if anyone else did, please quote me).
And the comment about Capital (sic) Hill was also really bizarre, because nobody was saying anything about that, either.
So basically, she took the general "she's racist/MAGA/trump supporter" comments directed at her after QftC and then acted like people were applying that to her album and its cover, when that simply wasn't the case. SHE made that association, no one else.
And before anyone's all oH bUt sHe'S dEfeNsIvE bEcAuSe It'S aLl sO uNfAir, taking article statements out of context like she did today is not the way to solve the problem.

I get that she wants to control her narrative or whatever but calling it “revenge” is so corny. Like a few bizarre criticisms doesn’t take away the fact that many critics had very valid criticisms. She needs to just step away from the spotlight and release music. Or don’t. But this lashing out act is so weird to me.

That Haarper's thing is almost 2 months old. The author got death threats from Lana stans back in January when it was published. Why is Lana bringing this old ass article to light two months later? Now this poor woman is going to have her life disrupted again because Lana decided to rant and get "revenge" on her instagram.

Many of the people criticising her are POC. We, as white people, don't get to dismiss their feelings or her remarks on the basis of her good intentions. 

Long story short: Lana has issues and can't take criticism

Listen I get everyone's disdain for the BTD era, but it's still possible for the sound to be there, just minus the problematic Lolita lyricism. It can work. Personally I'd still LOVE for Lana to delve back into the orchestral genre in the future as I genuinely believe that's where her voice shines the most. Even before I was a hardcore stan, one thing that stood out to me about Lana's voice was how much she sounded like a Disney princess alongside those strings.
Also another thing to grasp: orchestral btd sounds doesn't equate to 'twerking pop music'. The reason I believe why BTD did so well was because although it had some hip hop elements, it was still different to anything that had been released during that time period. The strings were a gamechanger and you can't deny that, no matter how much you dislike BTD. If stans want the orchestral sound, how is that bad? String are fucking gorgeous  It's the outdated 'daddy please love me' lyrics that warrants judgment, not the sound itself. 
 
With all this being said,
 

it'd be one thing if she were just defending herself and refuting false accusations, but it always turns into her making it seem like the world's against her and nobody is getting criticized like she is. it never sounds like she's striving for clarity, it sounds like she's striving for some kinda vengeance against anyone who tries to disagree with her or even genuinely misunderstands her
 
in 2012? maybe yeah the press was pretty stacked against her. but it's 2021 and most of what gets levelled at her isn't coming out of nowhere, it's usually pretty rooted in her own comments and actions

I normally try to "focus on the music" (to quote Lana herself) when it comes to LDR and not get embroiled in the weird, personal drama that's cropped up with her in the past couple years, especially, but... I think she's spouting bullshit here to some degree, and it made me angry.
