the title track is top 10 in her discography for me, i literally have no words for how much emotion and subtlety there is in every single note it contains. never in her discography have i seen such a beautiful instrumental build-up. the melody and the lyrics are magnificent. it’s one of her strongest songs and to me it’s really unique because of the vocals, the backup singers and the lyrics… i mean even after her vocals end and there’s only the instrumental, it’s still so strong and moving…

yeah, norman fucking rockwell literally has the same chords for love song, happiness is a butterfly, california… not to mention the lyrics are really not that great in comparison to all that followed and the vocals not that great in comparison to all that came before. to me it’s her most uninspired record even though i still think it’s good because it’s Lana and there are some great songs
chemtrails is a lot more humble and unique in my opinion

i think chemtrails is better than norman. norman used to be my favourite record and all, but recently i’ve been finding it underwhelming and repetitive with the same melodies going through almost every track (and these melodies aren’t really phenomenal to be honest). and on chemtrails i think there is something about each track that makes it its own and i don’t think it fades into one as some people say. plus i think it’s more experimental than norman, songs like dark but just a game or tulsa jesus freak are very unique and i don’t think there are any similar ones in lana’s discography

I don’t like how Lana herself, the fandom and the critics painted out this album to be a social commentary when, in fact, 99% of the lyrics are about love and relationships. The Kanye West reference, the “LA’s in flames” line and the “there’s a new revolution” line - because there really isn’t more to it - are not enough to make it a social commentary. She does not even give an opinion on those events/movement she briefly and vaguely alludes to! Lust for Life would be much more of a social commentary. It saddens me because the one album that’s painted out to be deep and politically relevant has lyrics that are so much safer than lyrics on Blue Banisters or even Chemtrails.

the way some people cannot wrap their head around the fact that their favorite artist is not a circus animal designed to dance and perform for them 24/7 to "keep them entertained" is truly something

i am so glad she does not listen to her "fans". some of them are truly her biggest enemies truly.

what do you want her to do lmfao? she doesn’t care about numbers so she’s not gonna go on every talk show in the universe. she hasn’t done much after album releases since 2017 and if you don’t like that unstan… be grateful we’re getting multiple mv’s
we’re not complaining cause what else is there to do? she dropped an amazing album and that’s all we can ask for

80 is actually pretty good, considering that most critics aren’t fans of the artist they rate.
anyways, just like the Grammy’s, critics to her albums don’t really « matter » overall: she is one of the best singer-songwriter out there and each of her albums are a chapter and a part of her life. At the end of her career, this is what the focus will be on : the larger picture she depicted and how each album is a part of that.

i love the title track so much, it’s definitely the best song on the album for me and i’m so glad i waited until the album release to listen to it. i would really recommend anyone who feels like it to do it, it’s 100% worth it in terms of effect the first listen has on you

i did the same and i absolutely confirm it 100% worth of it, im so glad that i can take all songs as the one project while if i would listen to the singles i would have felt weird about it and this is why i tried not to listen to anything and it worked the bestest

OMG idk if anyone brought this up already but what if Dark Paradise is about Aaron Greene? I just realized the lyrical parallels between the pre chorus of dark paradise and her singing about Aaron in fingertips. In Dark Paradise Lana sings:

And there's no remedy for memory, your face is like a melody
    It won't leave my head
Your soul is haunting me and telling me that everything is fine
But I wish I was dead (dead, like you)
    in fingertips, lana revealed how:

“Aaron ended up dead and not me”

So what if the person Lana is grieving in Dark Paradise Aaron? Someone tell me if I’m being delusional 😭

i'm probably super late and someone probably said this already
but when she said she got sent away in Fingertips i think she's talking about the same event that she mentions in This is What Makes Us Girls

I don’t think Lana really cares about vulgar titles (Norman Fucking Rockwell) but I think the listening experience is supposed to be like entering a tunnel - apprehensive and contemplative in the beginning, darkening in the middle, and finally the light at the end of the tunnel. Because of this I think the current title is the only title that makes sense.
