This is so true! Her recent music is cute but no matter how good the lyrics are, it doesn't make up for lacking production and melodies.
Half of Salvatore is literally just her saying random Italian words but because of the melody it all comes together and makes a beautiful song.
I understand that the 3 singles are meant to basically be spoken poetry set to music but I prefer something with a bit more substance.

Chemtrails was a career highlight. My favorite song since Get Free and it shows that Lana hasn't lost her edge.

Manifesting another track a la Chemtrails

Wow I am in love with your description of COCC the song. I feel one hundred percent the same and I still remember my unmatched goosebumps/tears when the song premiered with Annie Mac. It is literally HEAVEN. O/T tho I also really love Blue Banisters and while I didn’t get the same reaction listening to it the song is truly supreme. It’s interesting that some tracks come hurdling at you and slap you in the face, others gradually reveal themselves to you and then all of a sudden they just click and they become instant classics.

Edit: I’m LOL at me saying “I still remember when COCC came out” cause that was only five months ago RIP

Yesterday I was listening this song on repeat and thinking how AMAZING this song is. I absolutely love how powerfully chaotic it sounds. This is really the only song from cocc I listen to regularly, which is sad - the rest of the album left me underwhelmed, and so did the three new songs. (Hope they grow on me) I understand that she wanted to tell her story, but I liked only one song (BB). Chemtrials (the song) has a mesmerizing sound I missed.

a part of me just thinks that she took her energy back bc of backlash but hmmmmmmm. hmmmm. oklahome. if she does visit, some of us really can be very bratty. like who'd wanna deal w that in any situation.

I do think this'd all be mended w more communication/updates tho.

wow, this thread was... crazy  i do like the discussion about lana becoming more of a lowkey singer-songwriter instead of a conventional pop star, i can understand why she'd rather be a singer-songwriter type of artist/musician since she is a little older and a lot of her idols were that type of artist (bob dylan, joan baez, joni mitchell, etc.) although i would agree that the way she's possibly going about it (qftc, mesh mask, other controversies) is a little unsettling  billie eilish did bring something new in the mainstream music world, yet, she is still a pop artist and her music & lyricism is really not that different from other pop artists, or alt. pop artists, like melanie or marina, her winning FIVE grammys, and lana receiving none, after all of her hard work and all of her dedication was probably a punch in the gut, i mean, it's obvious that it's just based off of popularity, and it shouldn't be that way, yet i can totally understand why lana might've felt defeated & purposeless after the whole ordeal, i truly don't consider her a pop artist, maybe in the btd era she was, but she's just straight-up alternative in my opinion, although she's experimented with many different styles of music, i don't get why people categorize her with marina, melanie, or halsey when they are mostly pop artists, i can definitely see why lana is more mellow & lowkey, and only focusing on the music, it must feel like nobody understands her, not even her own fans sometimes

Amy Winehouse, Fiona Apple, Billie Holliday and Nina Simone we're talking about this way before Lana.

The trend to slash Lana started because people thought that she was fake. Her management also made several mistakes at the beginning of her career, not protecting Lana's image. Making her easily became an easy target to malicious articles and interviews

That is because people's mentality has changed, when Lana debuted, those topics were not very touched by women, instead men had more freedom to talk about what they wanted, I find that quite hypocritical because women can talk about their lives and their sexuality with total freedom, that was what made Lana angry, now everyone talks about it and receives applause but when she did it they gunned her down, I would be angry too.

TUN is pop blandness. Not worthy AOTY. Even Father of the Bride was better than TUN. I can't understand why people thought that Ari could win

"Bruises on both my knees for you"

"I like it when you take control
Even if you know that you don't
Own me, I'll let you play the role
    I'll be your animal"

The critics complain about Lana, while awarding a girl that it's not even 20 singing heavier lyrics. If she was older, I wouldn't find it so problematic, but she was almost a teen. Why weren't people worried about Billie's message in the same way that they are to Lana's?

The only reason why I think that she didn't mentioned Billie, is that she must think that Billie is an ally for singing about similar things.

She should have kept Beyoncé's and Kehlani's name out of her rant to add Billie and Fiona's, that are awarded and critically praised artists, with the same kind of music as hers

Now that you mention that about "behaving like a pop star" you gave me the opportunity to mention an unpopular opinion that I have of Lana, she as a singer and songwriter is talented, magnificent, incredible; that's the reason why I like her and why she is my favourite singer, I really love everything she does BUT when it comes to stanning her it really is kind of boring, I mean, Taylor goes to awards, performs and interacts with her fans and when it comes to us, we have a photo of Lana's dogs every month and voila, that's her interaction with us.
Now she seems to be more focused on what she writes than on selling and making popular music (which she can) If I'm honest, her BTD / UV era felt wilder because she acted like a pop star, and it's not that she's not famous because we all know that she has a big fan base and is well known in the industry, but I think she kills in us that desire to stan her with that lack of "pop star behaviour"

    Maybe ?
and yet, the Grammy’s were in February and she posted QFTC end of May… Girl is really holding a grudge

I've been thinking about this lately, I genuinely think she's not really fond of having a teenager fanbase and she wishes she was like joan baez or whoever is her idol
she doesn't like stans, doesn't like having to do the obligations of a regular pop star (promos, performances, photoshoots) she just wants to be acclaimed like a singer-songwriter like her idols from previous decades
I can be very wrong about this, but she's giving me this feeling

Billie spent the whole year saying that Lana created her, she said that Lana is her inspiration and then ended up completely ignoring her in her speech and mentioning Ariana instead of Lana ...

Because ppl were mad for ARIANA not getting the grammy. Even Billie mentioned Ariana and her TUN that it should win instead when obviously Lana deserved it 5 times more. It was so annoying.

and about the Grammys being the catalyst for QFTC, billie won with a song with the lyric 'might seduce your dad type' which is exactly the kind of lyric/content Lana was talking about being slandered for in QFTC

    HELP
No but you’re absolutely correct. Her merch now gives me very TJ Maxx surburban mom bargain bin vibes

This 100%, she should definitely utilize the beauty shop on LDR village. I’d love for her to release a fragrance themed for the album (all the her released albums if I’m being honest). I will never forgive Gucci for taking away that possibility from us   I want my LDR branded perfume!!!

Paint and brush set so you can have your very own blue banisters to match
I love the idea of her releasing friendship bracelets considering the concept of sisterhood/friendship has been such a forefront in her music lately ❤️

that and she won best new artist. we all know that category is cursed and artists usually totally fall of once they win it (for whatever weird reason). and it’s already showing she’s falling off while lana still gets tons of critical acclaim despite her… behavior. miss billie might as well enjoy her lil trophy that shouldn’t even be hers in the first place. and idc if BB gets a grammy and neither should lana. i hope she doesn’t expect anything from those maggot eating rats anymore and that the day they’ll give her one she simply doesn’t show up

I feel like the obvious assumption would be that there will be at least blue, green, and grey vinyls, but that would make too much sense, so it also feels unlikely.
