HM is her most cohesive album aesthetically, sonically, structurally, thematically, etc…

adding on to this, we don't know how being present on social media could've affected her, i'm not surprised she wants to disconnect after all of the hate & criticism she received because of qftc, as well as people making comments about her appearence, anybody would've wanted to disconnect if they had thousands of comments calling them racist, a karen, a trump supporter, or saying they're ugly & fat, i really can't blame her, her own mental health & well-being is way more important than having proper promotion & sales, and you can promote your work in other ways besides posting on social media, i'm sure her team & her managers understand & support her decision

Please tell me I'm not the only who doesn't use social media and doesn't care about this. She's hopefully going to be spending less time online (as we all should) and I'm not even familiar with how active she was. She will be spending more time on herself, her mental health and (for us fans) her music. Really great news I was very happy when I saw this. I made the decision to get off of twitter, facebook, instagram and it is great. I still use Lanaboards occasionally and now mostly reddit (dont judge me lol) and youtube. Very lightly do I browse instagram to see if artists post things about new music. Okay maybe I still use it but not with my face anymore. It's very different being anonymous (or whatever that is)
I'm just not directly affected, so I see the benefits to this. It's very sad for all of you I assume but this is probably a huge weight lifted off her shoulders (especially being Lana Del Rey, I mean damn, she probably just wants a break..)
But this actually brings me to a question,

What should we follow now for updates? The record labels?

okay but the way that came out and Lanaboards was literally QUAKING

Honestly if a famous person taking a break from insta causes people this much distress they have much bigger problems clearly.
No wonder she’s stepping back, everyones crazy.

"lay your hands on me" is a reference to the practice of kings of England and France laying their hands on their subjects to cure them of tuberculous cervical lymphadenitis (which went into remission on its own). In Arcadia she's both calling him a king and a god, and herself a subject and a queen - it actually ties in with the interlude of Carmen - it'll culminate in the next album which will be entirely from the point of Marie Antoinette, another delicate but strong woman (this is what question for the culture was really about). She recognises that he's a loser and not really curing her of anything by laying his hands upon her, but she'll go with him anyway. The "like a land rover" is a reference to where she is now, aesthetically and conceptually - she's still playing the role of being comforted by Americana, all the more to fool us when she goes full Marie Antoinette soon.

    Overall, a masterpiece. *chefs kiss*

Yeah, comparing her own body to stolen land is definitely not a tired, tired trope and sus. All this talk of "making reparations", does she mean reparations for living on stolen land or is it these god-awful lyrics that she's pre-emptively making reparations for?

This is giving the same energy as that article that said she should have talked about the gentrification of Brooklyn in Brooklyn Baby.

Jimmy Gnecco (Orchestra Version) (Ft. Jimmy Gnecco and Courtney Love) is gonna be the album's lead single, not Arcadia

Probably more the concept of love than any one particular person imo

The concept of her lyrics being 'much more mature' kind of confuses me. I get it for songs like hope and mac, but it's presented as her older songs just being lists of things or phrases repeated, while NFR has narratives and messages, etc. You can see narratives in songs as far back as AKA imo. I think people mistake dropping personas for immaturity tbh. There's nothing immature about ultraviolence's writing, for example (in the messages of her songs, before anyone quotes saying 'sad girl sad girl blah blah blah'). There's nothing immature about saying that you've slept with people to gain your current position, for example. I think a big thing with critics saying that her writing is good this time has to do with the more subdued music and messages being more palatable (and retroactively approving of her older work). Idk. I feel like with NFR people see what they want to see much more.

She shoulda brought the tree she fell out of that gave her cracked ribs and a breathy voice too, and herself as a baby because she was singing full songs before she could talk

she will never release a new album on july 1 mark my words.

she's taking the piss and will delay it countless times like she did with nfr ang chem.

Basically, she just got the idea to make a rock record with dealer on it and probably hasnt even found a producer.

I mean she just said to annie mac that she's exhausted all her supplies and it's the first time she doesn't know what she'll be doing next

like slate clean. So what is she on about?
