I've never actually bought a vinyl from Target, and there are a lot of reviews specifically under the reputation picture disc saying that Target has bad quality vinyl, but like you mentioned it doesn't seem like a uniform issue. For instance, the Born to Die red pressing has great reviews. And as far as I know, artists supply their vinyl for retailers to sell. It's not like Target has their own pressing plant and manufactures them themselves. Therefore, Target shouldn't be the one to blame for low quality pressings. This is just my two cents

it feels like a more powerful expression of the mindset she had during 2016/2017 (when the world was at war before, we just kept dancing) and she really progressed on that in The Greatest, focusing in on the turmoil, and now we have a whole album full of it. 
 
She used a word, I can’t remember what it was, and said that she’s always seen the crashing of the world. She said she’s hyper aware of what’s happening

So well-said, my friend! I really love what this record’s narrative is shaping up to be so far. I always felt like Lana was really spot-on when it came to making social commentary through her music (even if it appeared to be solely autobiographical in some of her earlier records, but I believe that she’s always woven some sort of grander message into her experiences). While we can conclude this by reading between the lines and not so much what she’s word-for-word saying, I love how she seems to be exploring womanhood, the legacy of familial bonds - regardless of how they are - and staying strong in the midst of tension by centering yourself into the things that are important to you. I think we’ll see the latter bit on Dance Till We Die in particular!

She has to learn what a lot of other artists have learned over the decades/centuries, and that is to ignore the media as much as possible and focus on one's art and one's life. It's harder today in this era of IG and social media, but nonetheless many have found it the only way to keep their sanity. Worrying what all the critics and fans think or might think is very intrusive and ultimately destructive. A certain kind of extremely confident, cerebral artist can handle the media better, but those are few. 
 
The media loves to sit back and mock and distort and enjoy the mayhem and buzz their words create. It gives them power; it is their only power. 'Critics are eunuchs at the orgy,' George Burns said, and to some degree I do think that is true of many of them. 

She definitely sounded a little uncertain about it in multiple parts of her Mojo interview. 
 
“She says she finds listening to the new album ‘a fight’, conceding that she’s offering a pre-emptive critique. ‘It wasn’t so much that I though the songs fantastically fit together with like seamless, sun kissed production -- but, you know, there’s a life lived there.”
 
Also the way she spoke about her vocals in White Dress. But, as the magazine stated right after, and Lana agreed with, the ‘not great’ vocals on the chorus absolutely fit the tone and message of the song. 
 
It just seems she’s nervous about the content of the record, and the way it will be received after the widespread success and ease of Norman. It’s her easiest album to get into, and provided a taste of that success and praise she didn’t get before. Though, she said in the interview that she felt people were into the record, not necessarily into her as an artist. The Mojo article gives great insight to the assumed nervousness/paranoia she has after years of being discredited and mocked publicly. Understanding how that’s affected her self-perception (idk if it has, but I think it would) and her art is important to understanding her as an artist and human. I do hope that one day she won’t feel like she has to bring it up during interviews, because to some extent it keeps it alive and fresh into each era, among other things.
 
Based on what we know and what the interviews show us, Chemtrails is going to be an emotional stunner, raw and unexpected, the same way UV was after BTD. Seriously cannot wait!!  March 19th please get here quickly

I isolate as well! Give myself a chance to feel completely submerged and succumb to the inevitable emotional breakdown that will come post-listen. After the first listen I’ll smoke a joint or two, and go into the experience again. Seriously cannot wait!

I think I'll listen to the album for the first time in my living room, at midnight, with a box of chocolate and wine. Then I'll go to the yard to smoke. Feeling v unhealthy compared with y'all. 

Do you guys listen to a new record with people around? I need complete isolation, noise cancellation, and a hazy IPA or a Moscow Mule by my side. Then I feel free to laugh, cry, be vulnerable, process, and judge the music. 
 

I think its just bc a lot of people here love Lana and probably disliked seeing her let down on camera after campaigning for the Grammys and sorta just being ambushed. They were making a big fuss and praising her but ultimately just used her something something about being an artist that shaped a new wave of music but then praising Eillish for her emergence and current pop relevancy when for the most part both had moody music, but they ultimately went for Eillish bc she was current even if Lana was considered to be a lot more original and let's face it less in ur face gimmicky trended how Eillish might be easily more perceived. 
 
Both do mold culture greatly it's just that Lana's usually just forgotten even when an entire sleu of artists began trying to replicate her sound. The way artists had a wave of trying real hard to sound like Rihanna, and currently like Ariana w their vocals and song content. I do think she's an underdog in that sense and she's usually more picked on, and praised only when it benefits publications etc. It's just shallow and fake so it probably extends that mindset to fans but thing is and we know this is that pop culture n music shouldnt be rules of thumb for measuring quality. Thats always been a clash. 
 
Lana's just extremely underappreciated while culture benefits from the stuff that she does without getting the proper credit she DESERVES. Which can be frustrating. So maybe that's where it stems. Wanting her to be treated better and if not, just fairly. 
 
Personally, I think perspective'll show how her work is ahead of her peers when it comes to her wordage, consistency and trademark original sound etc. But it'd also be great if she was appreciated in the now too. It can be difficult already knowing things ahead of others, and then being paid dust and having someone else take credit because of favoritism. It lacks integrity as society.

I definitely agree that Lana and Rick were probably very comfortable with each other, maybe too comfortable from an artistic creation perspective. But let's not pretend like Jack challenged Lana and pushed her to creative highs. That would be Dan Auerbach. Multiple articles and interviews were written about the creative process around 'Ultraviolence'. They all mentioned that they had a tumultuous relationship while making this album, they apparently fought a lot over certain artistic decisions, but also (if I recall correctly) when Lana heard back from Interscope and they told her they didn't like the album, Dan was ready to jump and defend this project peck and nails. Whereas Lana was ready to let it go (until Paul Epworth chimed in and said he loved the album,  then these same execs started eating shit... well that's a story from another day). But in the end, they said they danced to the music in the studio, and we got 'Ultraviolence'–that speaks for itself I think.
 
Anyway, from what we know, and this is straight from the horse's mouth, she and Jack just chill in the studio, which is fine, like there is nothing wrong with getting along peacefully. I just take a lot of issues with the way 'NFR!' sounds, and I think a lot of them stem from how this album was conceived from a production/mastering standpoint. I attribute a lot of that to artistic laziness. That might be a controversial opinion, oh well.
 
After 'Chemtrails' I honestly hope Lana partners with a completely new and different producer, I think it's time for her to really get out of her comfort zone and meet someone from a different place in this industry. I really want to hear something more boundary pushing than what we heard on 'NFR!', but also what's been released thus far from 'Chemtrails', which sonically speaking, while better in certain regards imho, isn't all that different from the last record. Weirdly enough, I find certain tracks on 'Violet' to be much more interesting sonically than what they have done together on an actual album.

does anyone else feel like these songs (as beautiful as LMLYLAW/COTCC are) feel like her thoughts that should be expanded on? I feel like what she wants to sing or think in the songs is just scratching the surface of her feelings?
like as if she isn't fully SHOUTING or SCREAMING her thoughts, it feels very bubbly & almost like she craves in these songs to express herself but it isn't fully formed. as if something is blocking her aura/mind/spirit from expressing herself ??? does this make sense? like it feels as if the songs are reaching for somewhere - some emotion - but they kind of just abruptly end. so far at least... maybe im just thinking too much. cause they are beautiful
