Honestly if she really comes back to that Hawaiian glam metal sound, its gonna be amazing. But lets be real. Its probably gonna be lana whispering to the piano instrumental.

this is exactly what I've wanted so I'm so glad that it could be a possibility 

this would be a dream come true!! i haven't even thought of all of this but it makes a lot of sense. 

I feel like there is going to be a strong surf-haze, dream-guitar and neo-noir feel to this record with a possible return to “Hawaiian Glam Metal” as a lot of Lana’s activity lately has been inspired by Hawaii.
 
1. For starters, she went to Hawaii with a large group of friends and family at the end of 2019. We know she is very responsive to place, her trip to Hawaii likely inspiring the next few points.
 
2. She followed a lot of accounts of families with new babies who happen to live in Hawaii, most notably @/ockeydockey; in a DM to her, Lana wrote “maybe it’s the quarantine that’s got me Hawaii dreaming”.
 
3. She posted a clip to Instagram from the movie “From Here to Eternity” which deals with the lives and romances of soldiers during the attack on Pearl Harbour in Hawaii. Perhaps the quality, technicalities and plot of the film will see half of the album adopt a noirish sound and theme while its location will see other songs sound surfy and summery.
 
4. Lana’s recent look with her blonde hair and long nails draw back to her Lizzy era when “Hawaiian Glam Metal” was her self-proclaimed signature genre. It’s safe to speculate that perhaps a surfier/noir sound on COTCC had her feeling nostalgic for the aesthetic and look she had at the time. We also see this reflected in her recent decision to don a pair of huge bamboo-golden hoops with words in the centre on her birthday, similar to ones she wore frequently in 2009.
 
5. In the second video of Patent Leather Do-Over Lana posted to Instagram (the one where she films herself walking down literal sea-cliff stairs), she can be heard saying in the background how the scenery almost doesn’t look like California, but rather Hawaii. The instrumentals to Patent Leather Do-Over are also quite hazy and surfy with their dreamy guitars, which may be an indication of the sound we will hear on COTCC.
 
6. It could be that FILY on NFR, being the last track recorded, was a jumping off point for more surfy songs, as we know Lana’s earliest versions of songs for a new record tend to be in a similar vein to the previous record, sonically.

If she managed to record this album and finish it during lockdown she can god damn well release it during lockdown. So she best not play us

i think a title change has a lot to do with a new direction of sound, maybe white hot forever was the continuation of nfr she talked about but felt like that song in particular didn’t fit the vibe and new direction of the record, the original lust for life (best american record) obviously was a different sounding album than the final product and UV had a style change compared to the songs that leaked like black beauty which was way more rock than the pillowy demo.
 
lana always seems to go for the same sound as her previous record when she starts a new one but it always turns into something far different, for example the freak demo was very rock influenced and sounded like something off ultraviolence then honeymoon was completely different from that. the lust for life demo and heroin have that same feel, they both sound like something off honeymoon but the final product of lfl is not close to honeymoon at all so i think she’ll end up surprising us with whatever sound she decides to go for

everyone in this thread has such amazing ideas and concepts, we really are raising our expectations aren't we? 

I predict the title track will start as slow jazz and be about the beauty of a glamorous lifestyle, and then halfway through it will merge into something grungy with a darker and more sinister sound as we realize that impending doom is hovering over these rich folks, and life at the country club isn't all that after all.

Y'all can say that Love Song is the weakest song on the album or that it is lyrically just Lanas most used words but it is still so beautiful and I want it as my wedding song!!!

i never understand the way lana describes her music she said NFR was gonna sound like change then red hot chili peppers then laurel canyon, i think she just uses words or places that inspire her songwriting to describe what she’s working on like a laurel canyon sound makes no fucking sense

I don’t wanna be that person but, I want all the tracks be consistent in their capitalization this time because every time I look in Norman fucking Rockwells tracklist it’s just so annoying. Like either have them all capitalized at the beginning of the words or none of it capitalized

Didn't Metacritic or whatever website had Lana on a list of artists that are gonna release albums on Sep 4th? I think she definitely got the dates confused 'cause you know...she's her

Lana films stuff early, like, really early. And doesn’t tell anyone she’s doing it. For all we know she’s got entire music videos already locked and loaded.

not so much a Lana opinion as it is a fandom opinion, but it really bugs me when people describe the album version of How To Disappear as having "trap beats" when that song.... literally..... doesn't have trap beats????

Thank youuuu. I know I wasn't the only one who still loves NFR. I stream it almost everyday.
I have heard a lot of people say this about the bridge in Heroin. I love that little break because she expresses so much emotion in it. Like I can feel it.

Yeah, an orange vinyl would be really pretty but I doubt they’ll make one. I’m guessing there’s only a black and cream white vinyl. :/
