Lana released Hope in January, which was a very, very rough time in my life-- heartbreak, near-death of people close to me... that song was the soundtrack to the beginning of this new year because it could communicate the suffocating darkness I was in better than I could.
Anyways, I'm doing moderately better nine months later, but listening to that song is enough to feel my world close in on me again, to feel the cool January air as I walked for hours alongside the near-frozen river and contemplated jumping in. But I listen anyways.

Am I the only one who afraid of listening to Hope? I'm avoiding it, it's beautiful but too dark and reminds me of so many shit, like my depression days..etc

Replace Doin Time and TNBAR with The Blackest Day and Heroin and it's perfect.
Especially this order: The Blackest Day - Heroin - California!

I miss how depressing her songs used to be. I really loved her old persona. I get such a different vibe from BTD, UV and HM. Not just musically but the songs really take me into another world. And im not saying i want her to be depressed again, i just miss having music from her that i relate to. I think something changed 2017 onwards. Like its cool that shes grown but... i haven't lol. LFL and NFR dont really take me anywhere, i dont get lost in them. LFL is fake woke and too current, and NFR is too light and, i wanna say common

Holy fucking shit a 9.4!!!!! This is.. She really is one of the greats of this decade for sure and she's finally getting recognized properly for her talent. The growth she displayed as an artist is rewarding her with a new peak in her career, not commercially, just as an artist and a name in the music world. Damn

They're playing the original version of NFR I think
An early version
"Cuz' you're back in the bar again, hanging out with your stupid friends. But I don't fucking care, 'cause you're just a man."
"You keep changing all the time, changing your goddamn mind.."
-
"That was great! We should still do something with that"

People on this board may not appreciate it more, but it's definitely largely considered one of the best songs she's ever written. Tons of reviews have singled it out as especially impressive. It's stunning.

The Greatest remains one of her best songs ever and the best song on NFR.
I’m so happy for Lana. It must be such a great feeling to know that your work is being received positively and is respected amongst your peers.

Doesn't she look like a video game character on this part of the video?
