Guys, if she says it's Jimmy Jimmy Cocoa Puff, then that's what it is. I really don't see why she'd joke? She has clarified lyrics that fans have asked about before. IMO, it makes 1000% more sense for her to be referencing a Nelly song ("Country Grammar") because it would have been a popular song/was released in 2000 when she was in high school. There is a quote where Lana talks about being 15 years old during boarding school, and her teacher introduced her to hip-hop, Tupac, Biggie Smalls, etc. It's quite likely she was listening to Nelly too. To be fair, cocoa puff is also referencing ko ko bop, just in a more roundabout way. It's like a game of telephone:
Shimmy Shimmy Koko Bop (Little Anthony & the Imperials 1959)
Shimmy Shimmy Cocoa Puff (Nelly 2000)
Jimmy Jimmy Cocoa Puff (Lana 2023)
I'm sorry to be so adamant, but I'm a Cocoa Puff Truther, and I don't think it makes sense to be discounting the answer that came right from Lana's mouth (or keyboard)

Hi all, just want to add a vote for "Jimmy shimmy cocoa puff". I strongly believe Lana is referencing the song "Country Grammar" by Nelly but switching the word "Shimmy" for "Jimmy" (and/or ambiguously switching between the two words). I can completely imagine Lana having had exposure to this song at a formative period in her life (it was released in 2000). As you can see, "Country Grammar" also includes the line "light it up" which appears in A&W as well. The rhythm/melody is quite similar as well.
"Country Grammar" Lyrics:
Shimmy, shimmy cocoa, what? Listen to it pound
Light it up and take a puff, pass it to me now
*Note: I realize that Nelly's song is likely a reference to the older "Shimmy Shimmy Kokobop" but I think she probably had the Nelly version in mind.

Perhaps reading too much into it, but I wonder if she adopted a personal philosophy to always say “yes” to see what would happen in life even if she felt that she she would have rather said no.
I took notice that when she met fans after her show in Wichita 2019, she literally said the word “yes” to everyone. When fans would ask “can we take a selfie” or “can you sign my vinyl” or “can I take a polaroid of you” etc, she always would respond with a smile and a simple “yes”
I remember noticing that then and thinking it was interesting how that’s how she would respond. It was very sweet. However, maybe in other things in life, she’s also always responded with “yes” even when she didn’t want to. Perhaps that reason also ties into why she decided to sign her message with her given name rather than LDR.
The message also reminds me a bit of her poem LA Who Am I to Love You - “I left my city for San Francisco and I'm writing from the Golden Gate Bridge, but it's not going as I planned. I took a free ride off a billionaire and brought my typewriter and promised myself that I would stay, but it’s just not going the way that I thought“
Either way, I would love another poetry book. I always love reading her thoughts about life, whether about her own or about life at large x

I did not expect to get so emotional. What a beautiful end to their journey together. Bravo, Paul and Ringo. Rest easy, John and George.

i honestly don't really care or have a problem with her possibly growing up rich, but why lie about stuff at all?

Lana should write a book and tell her story in her own words. She already told us through her poetry but some of her fans still accuse her of lying. We don't know her personal life. We cannot make opinions based on some pics from her lizzy grant era or whatever.

i think she meant that they didn’t knew she was in new york singing to get her money and eat, before that all those little lizzy grant shows were just some kind of hobby

ultimately, She always lies about weird stuff… like her parents know she was a singer and they even attended some of her shows prior to SNL, it’s just these little lies that make it seem like whatever she says is worth questioning all the time

She's particularly mesmerising in this clip. Her way of speaking is so evocative. And what she's revealed hits a little bit too close to home. But she also looks so stunning holy shit? Love this woman to death and will always defend her. I'd actually die if we were ever to get a memoir from her.
