now that i rewatched it and took a deeper look at the reference, damn this might be her most ambitious concept video since.... Ride / TROPICO?

This was so good. I think this is a short film more than a music video so everything makes since. The random cuts away from the scene bring the whole story together. Really gorgeous

The music video somehow reflects her entire career. The rich old man represents the music industry, the diamond necklaces her success, which becomes more and more a burden. In the end she exchanges them for simple sugar necklaces and is happiest with them.

Not Taylor fans saying it reminds them Wildest Dreams, when that song borrowed the melody from Without You

This is just like her Burning Desire look but with blonde hair  I love all the self references in this music video

I see the concept, we have a star named Lana shooting scenes for the moving pictures. The addition of BTS is adding another layer to the music video. It's like mixing the reality and the fiction. For example, when she takes off the wig in the alley, it feels like she does in the real life after the scene is shot but at the same time it can also be a scene from the thing they are shooting. When she gives off middle finger and says "seriously", kinda gives the feeling of "is she acting?". We see a death scene, making us question whether it's real or not. At the end, we see she's happy and alive and it's all a music video. It's eerie. I don't mind BTS aspect of it but I wish there wasn't so much talking.

I also love where candy necklaces and expensive diamond necklaces are falling down to blood. It was so good visually and it made me understand the meaning of the song more.

Maybe the fact that she includes all those bts cuts alongside with official video is to prove a point that all these hollywood women she portrays in this MV (Marilyn, the black dahlia girl etc.) have all faced tragic ending by the exploitation of the media. And while her fake "character" in this video has the same ending (m*rdered & the paparazzi all swarm around her dead corspe) - she herself, in fact - the real Lana Del Rey in real life "behind all the scenes", behind this "character" is still alive & breathing, as we see in the ending of the video - it's just all "made up"

It's giving National Anthem right here

it's a commentary on being a woman in Hollywood... everyone watching you, being under the eye of the camera, being constantly observed from all angles and all the different versions of yourself you put on for the public

lana talking in the background of the clips represents her taking charge of her life, finally being of charge of her art and direction and how the media around her is published

tbh I don't really know how I feel about the concept... I am wating until someone will edit this and connect these professional scenes together  but besides that, visuals are GORGEOUS, BREATHTAKING, BEAUTIFUL. It could be one of her best music vidoes EVER.

I wasn't sold at first, but... I'm sold

Not only does this work so beautifully with the process-is-product aesthetic on Ocean Blvd, but is honestly such a definitive LDR statement. Like, the fact that there's already discussions about the BTS shots being inauthentic just speaks to how well she executed this concept of "blurring the lines between real and the fake" (to quote a certain BtD classic). You never know what's a persona and what's genuine LDR (whatever that is!). And the audacity of ending the video with her posing with her (as yet) nonexistent Hollywood star? It doesn't get any more classic Lana. In awe

I found this video to be so captivating. The incorporation of the behind the scenes footage mixed with the official footage makes it feel like you’re watching the lives of these old Hollywood stars. That part with Lana talking about acting like a robot while dressed as Marilyn was really powerful as well. And of course she looked absolutely stunning. My favorite look has to be the one at the end with her Walk of Fame star. I can’t say this is what I was expecting this video to be, but I’m pleasantly surprised

And she really doesn't. Someone already mentioned that the younger fans have no idea about Lana's impact from 2011-15/16. She was so enigmatic and the albums and Tropico really sent you into a completely different world. It was so exciting.
To me, all of that is gone. NFR onwards aren't that exciting anymore. I listen to BTD, P, UV, HM to dive into different worlds. If I need some pleasant noise in the background while studying I might listen to the rest.
I'm not attacking Lana. I hope she is happy where she and with what she is doing is right now. But a big part of her music and lyrics nowadays just don't hold a candle to her earlier stuff. Which is also the reason why songs like TNBAR (demo though), Bartender, Yosemite, Nectar of the Gods, Living Legend and Thunder (demo though) are album peaks - they weren't written recently.
