dream COCC live show setlist? either for something online or in person, whenever that might be. tbh i could see her not doing a tour or anything much live for this record but who tf knows. and obvs we haven't heard any of the album tracks yet so i'm using place holders for those, and based the # of songs on an average show length from NFR tour. obviously leaned heavily on newer stuff, esp since we didn't get to hear much of NFR live last tour. put in video games only bc she always does, and brooklyn baby next to white dress bc it's a looking-back-on-lizzy song too:

I completely agree! I think the 'candidness' of it is quite charming (hence, why this is in the unpopular opinions thread ) but I really love it and I feel a sense of happiness when I see it - which is interesting, because normally when I've seen Lana's past album covers I'm blown away by the composition and the colour scheme, and the artistry, and the symbolism of it and how it links to the album's narrative - but this time, I just noticed how familiar the album cover felt. And paired with the video, I actually felt the most emotional response I've ever felt to anything related to Lana's image. I love the message it conveys and it makes me want to lean into this community aspect that I feel we've all kind of been isolated from since this pandemic started. It's beautiful.

In terms of my favorite from NFR, I teeter back and forth between hope because of its lyricism and California for its emotionality.

Those rugged, West-Coast-esque vocals in the chorus of California are so gorgeous and really emphasize the pleading in her voice. The lyrics in the verses are extremely simple but so raw in the same way Ultraviolence (the album) was with its collection of one-takes. Such a good pick!!

This is a hot take I don’t hear super often!!

While I personally prefer the piano version for that specific track because it seemed to pair well with the wistful message, I still think the studio instrumental is really interesting.

The mellotron in the studio version has this very hazy, melting(?) quality that I think would sounds really fucking cool on a “trippy” track, and I wouldn’t mind her exploring this more experimental sound more!

At some point in the future, I really hope Lana dives headfirst into a really specific and experimental genre & maintains it throughout the entirety of the record (even if it’s not my initial personal preference).

I think this is why Honeymoon and Ultraviolence are lauded for both their originality and cohesion but produce polarizing opinions among her listeners and critics. These genre-heavy sounds are often growers but showcase her ability to adopt & complement a soundscape with her own artistry.

UV, HM, and NFR are practically equal in my eyes, but personal (and very subjective) wish for her last record was that it would have a more..readily recognizable(?) sound. Idk if this makes sense but maybe someone gets it

This!! I don’t remotely understand why befriending or including rappers was even remotely relevant (especially considering the rapper boyfriend that we’re aware of is white)

What worries me is what she put in the IG stories, she replayed that quote from that old interview she did where she said that she wish she was dead already.  Hopefully it's not any indication of how she's currently feeling

I could definitely be interpreting her comment incorrectly, but I more read the comment as an anticipation of people saying she’s being performative—not that she’s trying to necessarily “prove” anything.

In other words, it seemed less about showing her good terms with POC and more about clarifying that she’s not including POC because of recent controversies—they’re just people important in her life. Maybe I’m reading it wrong, though.

Regardless, I think it’s important to hold people (especially celebrities) accountable for mishandled words & sentiments

edit: the “rapper” bit, though? Beyond ignorant if she’s implying what I think she is
