ok obviously lana does not look her best in THOSE particular photos (like wtf was the concept for this shoot? drunk woman literally crawls home from the bar????) but do yall really think Lana fucked her face that bad?? I mean anyone who gets fillers in their 20's literally HAS to keep up with them or theyll look so bad and have saggy skin (fillers are like once you get them you cant go back to how you looked before) but i dont think she looks botched or anything...like she looked STUNNING in the chemtrails video, and i think she still has the same structure in her face. i mean obviously she gained a ton of weight and therefor her face looks more filled in than it did in 2017 when she was super skinny, but i genuinely am shocked that yall think her face has gone to hell!!!

I like the photos, they’re almost candid and the vampire look is so 2013 dita “goth” Lana.
Like she looks so refreshed, like a creative spark is appearing.

Honestly a pretty great article! And so glad it mentions her recent controversies without her adding another one to them. Lol

    Ok, so
In "Dance Til We Die" she sings "I've been covering Joni and dancing with Joan" "Not All Who Wanders Are Lost" has a high thrill and reminds Lana of "Cinderella in the movie, where she's holding the blue bird" "Wild At Heart" has a similar theme about being untameable as the title track has "Breaking Up Slowly" is about the relationship of  Tammy Wynette and George Jones and the "Breaking up slowly is a hard thing to do"-line was made up during a conversation Nikki and Lana had in a hotel room. Nikki and Lana wrote 4 more songs together She talks about a cover album full of country songs (she namedrops Bobby Gentry, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline and Wynette, although it's not said whether she actually covered them) and one with folk songs "Dark But Just A Game" is sonically compared to Portishead and Ricky Nelson's"Garden Party". Lyrically, it is supposed to be similar to Allen Ginsberg's poem "Howl".
Apart from that, it seems to be inspired by an disillusioning incident at a party she attended with Jack, hosted by Madonna and U2's manager Guy Oseray, where she contemplated about how it's best not to meet your idols and how musicians change in strange ways. The title originates from a conversation between her and Jack.
Jack also describes this song as "so LDR", being about "fly down the rabbit hole and smile in the same breath" On "White Dress" she sings in a rapt, innocent whisper
The song is about being 19, working as a waitress, listening to the White Stripes and Kings Of Leon. Lana describes it as being close to unedited journaling, not being "too afraid about being kind of stupid".
She also says that she's not sounding great during the chorus - it's described as sounding awestruck, trembling, "the voice of someone on the bring of something" and very fitting to the thematic of the song
We also get some lyrics: "Look how I do this, look how I've got this"
Also, there is a reference to "grass always being greener", which is something Eclipse has referred to within his hints

I know we like to get on her about overworking her albums, so I’m sooo eager to hear this album she feels somewhat uneasy about! And I love that the interview mentioned Sirens and AKA.

It’s funny that Caroline took the name of Chuck, which is usually the nickname for Charlie

My point is that I don't think she's being emotionally inaccurate but rather expressing her perception of that time in her life, which we know very little about. She's not sitting there thinking "today I'll lie about the money we had when I was young." For whatever reason, Lana looks back on her childhood and feels struggle and sadness, and that's her business, not ours, so for people to act like experts on it is frustrating. Anyways, I don't care to argue about whether or not Lana's family had a hard time, I just think people should start respecting her as a human being a little bit more and stop invalidating everything she says about her own experiences.

Remember how Paris Hilton said she suffered a lot of abuse at her boarding school. She made a documentary about it too. Rich kids are sent to these type of schools to rectify their behavioural issues. But some schools have been abusing these kids in horrifying ways upon which Paris Hilton has now started to shed light as she doesn't want anyone to undergo what she has gone through.

I get the feeling even Lana has undergone the same at her boarding school. Regarding her grudge against her mother. I think she only forced her to go to the boarding school like Paris Hilton's mother. Paris Hilton was sent as she was starting to act out and was a rebellious teen. The upper class society are supposed to behave all prim and proper. Paris Hilton's family had even threatened to disown her. That is why Paris created this "dumb blonde" persona and built an empire around it, so she wouldn't ever have to depend on her family's wealth in the event they actually disowned her. This is what Lana has tried to convey about her difficult upbringing. Money is not everything. The physical and emotional traumas she must have suffered can never be healed and no amount of money in the world can bring peace to a soul that has been traumatized beyond belief. This is why Lana created her own separate world of Art in which she lives so as to escape the demons of her real life.
See James Franco comment about her :

Do not judge a person based on external wealth alone. Because you never know the price they had to pay to be worthy of that wealth.

Can people stop pretending that they're experts on Lana's upbringing? We don't really know much about her childhood, but we do know she had a heavy drinking problem very young and they sent her away to boarding school. Even if her parents had money, her relationship with them may have been bad enough that she didn't feel supported and felt a very real struggle for herself. I have no idea, and neither does anyone. She's not saying that they were homeless or starving, and I don't think she's lying but rather expressing her perception of that time. She feels like they had nothing, and instead of telling her she's wrong about her own life, maybe respect her own experiences. We also don't know the circumstances around why she was living in a trailer park. I've seen people say it was for fun or aesthetic which is just a ridiculous thing to say. Maybe her parents kicked her out and cut her off and she really was on her own with no option of financial security to fall back on. It's just wild to me how much people try to control Lana's own narrative of her life.

Outlier of an opinion but I still think the cover's better than lust for life. n I get the message it wanted/was conveying but I remember how we never got an alt cover for it, and it's great to see Lana smiling on the cover but in ways it just gave me pretty Darla from Finding Nemo vibes. doesn't take away at how I love the record for what it is but two cents.

she's genuinely smiling on here, or at least a lot more natural looking. it's more dynamic than her past covers seeing as how this is more candid, moment in time.
    she's not alone.

what I do dislike about it is the certain coldness to the bnw, quick glance, is that it makes it feel less timeless and more hallway pictorial, like a photo you hang up in your hallway. and the crop could've been slightly better. it gives me Johnny Cash playing Mario Kart bc of the table cover bc of the bnw and the table cover alone. and w everything going on in the background, it barely got away with all the textures u see on the format bc of how eerie it can look (which for me is a plus). I hope the cover has a little more yellow or warmth to it exactly like this, it gives it a more masculine feel which I personally just like.

regardless, the photo itself is pretty balanced, and I think the play from all the shades of grey in the bnw make it.
I do dislike how the woman sitting in the middle kinda seems like she doesn't wanna be there compared to the others.
it's a lot more complex than what we're used to, but the details are there. and I honestly like how it's trying to almost be rugged w it's slight messiness. it's something different and I actually love thinking about it compared to a lot of overly-polished stuff/ overly edited vintage. I think it's a GREAT balance.

of course I hope the music fleshes out the record bc I do see it's TREMENDOUS potential, but I also understand how others might not be used to it/doesn't live up to their fantasies as easy as the alt cover does. I think if the music lends itself to the original cover, that it'll definitely be worth it. mentally juxtaposing the music against this cover again, gives me MTWBT mixed w Kendrick's TPAB and I'm hoping the music continues to oil and water from it's details to the songs' smooth darkness. I just hope that it connects to the album and that this was intentional.

after looking at it again I think I love it even more.
