I don't see the point in panicking about potential country music from Lana when it's obvious that her definition of that is completely different than ours  She said Video Games and Ride were kind of country songs, I think we're safe lol. And a lot of her old unreleased songs have really heavy classic country elements, so if that's what she plans on going for and not "beer beer hot women in a pickup truck" country, I'm all for it 

I don't think LDR9 will be country all that much tbh 
 
I feel like this is one of her fleeting moments where she gets musically inspired by something (like a random 5 hour drive through the desert) and decides to announce her idea to the world. I'm sure she'll release a country album at some point (for example, she wrote material for it with Prettiest Girl in Country Music) but I don't think that will be LDR9

It could be personal in the sense that she is also afflicted with media scrutiny. Fame is only truly understood by those who have it, so she can feel super close to them. She also once said she believed she had a special, personal connection with people long gone before her through their art. I'll update this post if I find the interview.

Just from this, I'm getting the sense that this song may be about all of the disrespect she used to receive in 2012 (her last affair went brutally), but how she didn't let it bother her (I don't let them rain on my parade) and since then she's been able to create a strong, loving fanbase (I've got love on my side now.) She also admitted recently in one of her magazine issues that she's stepped away from her old "LDR" persona (I've got nothing to hide now.)
As I've said many times before, it truly does seem like this album is meant to be a development from Born to Die. So many elements of LFL have been so reminiscent of it, except with her 2017 growth of mind.

I have many thoughts about her doing country, and yeah, they are contradictory haha:
1- country can have a lot of other genres attached to it, and I don’t expect yeehaw that much;
2- we know something country is around the corner at some point. Better to get used to that idea I guess 🤷🏼;
3- i don’t think LDR9 will be that country project and I hope not: after folksy Chem and introspective BB, we need something bigger;
4- Prettiest Girl in Country and Hey Blue Baby were both different from her repertoire. Maybe this country project could be a fun side of her we didn’t see that often in the past;
5- like I said before, I’ll wait until she decides to launch the era to make up my mind about anything.
