I'm delulu but I still think it's part of a surprise unreleased collection and that's also why Lana doesn't talk about it.

The official press release says it's a one-off single, implying it's not part of a larger project.

i would also have to agree with 2013, the early ultraviolence sound, so many magnificent songs, like pink champagne, earthquakes, madly, unidentified flying bill, lake placid, fine china, and i talk to jesus were recorded around that time, i'd be happy to hear anything from that period of time

also, obligatory mention of 2007 from me, it's certainly my favorite year of her artistry, at the start of 2007, her music was still very similar to the may jailer sound, she wore dreamy, long white dresses, wavy, blonde hair, and sang her melancholic, haunting acoustic songs like for k, pt. 2, and disco, she cut her hair in may of 2007 and slowly transitioned into more of the classic lizzy grant image in the summer, and started experimenting with a heavier, rock sound with her boyfriend at the time, arthur lynn, as evidenced by their live rehearsal sessions containing rock versions of brite lites, disco, and yayo, two other songs titled me and my boyfriend and it's not you, it's just me, and the live footage of yayo and brite lites that feature a heavier, edgier sound, she also started working with steven mertens, another boyfriend, that year, and with that, came spectacular songs like the mermaid motel demo, pin up galore, trash magic, the ocean, and wayamaya, her amazing and elusive surf noir sound, but steven mertens wasn't a one-trick-pony, he also produced demos that featured a more rural and rock-esque, like his rendition of brite lites and queen of the gas station, and let's not forget that she started working with david kahne in october  just such a fabulous period of time in her career that brought us so much amazing music that makes me feel like nothing else

AKA for me - everything that inspired it is so interesting and its a very sonically visual album (how lana described it herself) i think it’s some of her most creative work and nothing still really sounds like it.  having mermaid motel and yayo on the same album already kind of takes the cake for that imo  i mean just iconic

I find her love for American culture and incorporation of it in her music/persona so fascinating. It’s always been an obvious part of her whole shtick but she’s harnessed so many different aspects of Americana throughout her career and it shows just how diverse pure American culture is. AKA has a bit of a southwestern sound to it, I guess? She has that New York/Hamptons style in BTD, a bit of a Latina in LA thing going on with Tropico/Paradise, the whole retro futurism stuff with LFL, the very very Californian surf stuff in NFR, contemporary folk stuff in COCC, and now her recent stuff is pointing towards a more traditional country, southern sound. Now, I honestly wish she would retain that California aesthetic forever, but I would be lying if I said her music and aesthetic hasn’t shown me new types of music and aspects of American culture that I would have never bothered with before. I love seeing her music as a celebration of American culture

Its legit making me emo thinking of how John Denver was my dads first concert as a young boy, March 1980 in Toronto, n now the first artist I ever loved is covering him 40 years later, a song he sang that very night .. it feels like such a sweet full circle moment, I just can't wait to share this with him in the morning

at the end of the day more than anything else, this is what music is all about to me .. so thank you lovely Lana I was indeed taken home

if you told me this was recorded in the Tropico sessions I would believe it. Her singing is very similar on songs like Lake Placid.

I'd love a good studio version of The Good Life. Being older than Lana, I when I think of American classics, I tend to think of music from the 1930s-1950s with jazz/blues overtones, like Skylark, My Funny Valentine, Last Night When We Were Young, and Lover Man, and Unchained Melody does come from the late 50s.

I can't see Chelsea Hotel No. 2 fitting in with CRTMH and UM, but it depends what the album is called and what its focus is, especially as it was written by Leonard Cohen, a Canadian, making it not literally Americana. Though some might consider it a standard, but Cohen has so many songs that could be considered standards in the broad sense. I don't consider CHN2 a standard.

It would be wonderful to have a double album of covers, maybe each disc having a different focus, one Americana and the other covers of all kinds. Imagine Lana doing Lilac Wine.
That would be awesome. Or The Warmth of the Sun. In My Room, like Caroline No, is certainly a post-50s standard.

I’ve been thinking about this almost daily since that first snipped leaked last year  The fact that Fingertips, Tunnel, and Country Roads ended up getting released after the leaks gives me hope for Zodiac

What covers do we predict ? I'm guessing the album is gonna be country/folk covers only so Heart Shaped Box is ruled out.

Country roads, Stand By Your Man, Unchained Melody, Chelsea hotel.
I would love End of The World too..
