Less can sometimes be more. Her new songs with less instrumentation show her real singing talent, what she is really capable of. In Blue Banisters her voice has so much power as we've ever heard in a song before.

How the removal of the line "She wants to die" changed the whole song

Loving the fact that the album is finally starting to click for many people. It's at the same time her most thoughtful and accesible album to date, I think (Honeymoon, which I deeply admire, was even more contemplative, yet quite dark as well and anything but simple for casual listeners to get into). There's certainly some moments on the record that could have been more carefully crafted (the NAWWAL-Yosemite passage falls a bit flat from my point of view, p.e), but the whole atmosphere of it all is so warm, beautiful and full of light, even as nostalgic as it gets. Also, some of the tracks that got the lesser attention ended up being some of the most captivating ones (BUS and For Free are absolute gems -it doesnt really get more beautiful than them-). Really, really hoping that the album will be far more loved and recognised (by Lana herself, even) with time, as it truly deserves.

only boys would expect a woman to pick out a different type of flower for every single album. women don't have time for that shit. we don't want to turn flowers into a chore, we want to enjoy them! strict guidelines are masculine and depressing and we reject it. every flower for every album! that's why lana's giving us violets and roses and wildflowers and cherry blossoms all together on this album! #stopsegregatingflowers

Well, on the one hand there is Pretty When You Cry, which is probably her darkest, most raw-est, desperate and truly saddest track.
But both The greatest and 13 Beaches hit a bit harder for me. Even though the lyrics maynot go as deep as songs like Heroin, The Blackest Day etc. the delivery, the mood and the production (especially in case of 13 Beaches) just SOAKS of melancholia, regret and defeat. In TG this vibe kind of clashes with those dramatics guitars, while the nautic sounds of 13B completely embrace it while still staying subtle
