Weekly album charts are somehow overrated, I think what really matters is how many copies are sold in a year or in a longer period of time.

Agree with both of you! If a number 1 album was the goal with her previous albums, since Norman, I don’t think it matters that much to Interscope: Norman was a critic darling, Chemtrails had impressive vinyl sales… Lana is a singer-songwriter. To wish for her to sell as many albums as the top five pop female stars is utopia at this point.

I think what really matters is not much an artist sells, but the quality of their work. Getting a #1 or selling millions of copies is cool, but what’s even cooler is doing it with a qualitative body of work, not something mediocre that’s meant to appeal to the masses

Blue Banisters is a timeless masterpiece and burying an Elton John album will be the least of its legacy

I'd say max 16 songs since her longest albums have been 16 songs (Ultraviolence Japan itunes; Lust for Life)

    Hi everyone.
First, I just wanted to apologise for being sort of spotty this week. I was out of town for three days this week while I was filming a TV show (& yes, I stayed at a Hilton Hotel), and today I was out for the majority of the day supporting my friend at the funeral for her newborn.
I finally had a moment to check in, and I saw this thread sort of took a weird, off-topic turn. I moved all the fighting that occurred in here into the Random Conversation Thread. In the future, please refrain from having off-topic arguments in the Pre-Release Thread. & as always, if something someone posts ever bothers you, feel free to send in a Report or contact me or another mod directly.
Also, I moved the discussion about your favourite song from each album's track-listing into its own thread, not only because it was a bit off topic, but because I think it's a really cool topic of conversation that deserved its own place of discussion. You can find the new thread for that here.
Well, since it's been a very long and exhausting week, I'm going to go take a nap now lol. Please behave, all!
    All my love xx

The way Lana slowly unravels the meaning of the song in Arcadia is so brilliant. It starts off so simple and seems like something cute as she describes her body as different parts of LA, and when she first says America it sounds so patriotic, like the way she used to sing about America. But as the song goes on we start to realize that it's not America she's admiring anymore, it's the peace of Arcadia. It's America that she needs to leave because it's not bringing that peace anymore. By the end we learn how deeply LA has left its imprint on her, hence her describing her body that way, but it's become something toxic too, and America is now associated with the hate she's given, and it needs a miracle to ever be returned to its former glory.

I’m very glad Lana didn’t go to the MET (and I hope she doesn’t attend next year either).

I mean not out of negativity but I really hope this whole “disconnect and live a normal life because I’m tired of culture” deal is truly authentic (and I think it is). I wouldn’t really blame her about changing her mind (because we all do) but it would mean some sort of step back from the mindset she is in right now.

Also not to put another artist on the spotlight but look at Lorde. She went full out about being ill of celebrity status, playing the martyr advocate of the planet, being disconnected and what not… and she shows up at the MET as “Jesus”, shows up half naked and with expensive ass dresses on Vogue… etcetc

i know artists need a platform to
get their message across but you preach with actions. That said…. i am glad Lana is out of this whole toxic internet environment and I hope for her best and whatever keeps her happy even if that meant no more music from her (I doubt that but hey..)

Added another picture and two more videos to the OP! Also, I've seen a few others comment this elsewhere, but upon first glance of Byron's photo I thought it was a throwback photo from the night of her performance with The Weeknd in 2015. It wasn't until I saw the videos posted by another friend that I realised it was current! x
