To me, Lana has such a talent for making songs unique to her yet accessible enough to invite others into her world. I think that’s what makes Ocean Blvd so special. She’s so intricate with the way she’s describing her state of mind with such a niche reference yet everyone can relate to her feelings of isolation and frustration. 
 
It’s the perfect blend of nostalgia that Lana always seeps into her music and current train of thought. God this song is so brilliant

MARCH FEELS SO FAR FOR THIS ALBUM  

This song is unbelievably gorgeous and powerful  March 10 is so far 

To me, this is the big difference between this song and the last two albums. Admittedly I love Chemtrails and Blue Banisters, but as a Lana fan they felt very private. I didn't make anyone else listen to the songs on it, and never really brought them up in conversation with my friends. This new song, though, I'm blasting out my windows and sending to everyone I know. So far everyone else seems to like it too. Lana's back babes 

For me Ocean sounds like a song that was worked on much longer than Arcadia. There’s something very full and finalized about it. It’s a story and a completed concept. It introduces you to the tunnel, what it looks like, is used as a metaphor to Lana herself and then ends by repeating “don’t forget me, at the tunnel under ocean Blvd” referring to herself as a soon to be forgotten relic of the past. Her songwriting is extremely confident and the production is considerate to every note and word. The song is like a finished painting, a painting is complete when all of its layers have been built up around an ideal composition. Arcadia is a beautiful song but it’s quite hollow and flat. The melody isn’t very catchy and the chorus feels quite cold. To me, Arcadia is a rough draft of Lana’s feelings and it’s almost like she wasn’t able to get out exactly what she wanted to in the way she needed to. Ocean is that moment. It’s where she’s finally able to put her true feelings into words by using this metaphor.  And to me it’s more relatable for the listener than “my body is a map of LA Hilton hotel cross on a hill” compared to “When’s it gunna be my turn, love me until I love myself” or even the idea of having your moment in life, and being afraid you’ll be forgotten.

I haven't read this thread yet but I wanted to put this out there. I think the lyrics of this song are truly important to the story she meant to tell with Blue Banisters or even when it was called Rock Candy Sweet. 
 
The first line, she's asking you a question she already knows the answer to. No, we didn't know that there's a tunnel under ocean blvd. And that's the point. Asking that question, it translates to her asking if we know that there's depth to her. And I don't even think it's a question to the listener, as much as it is for her lover. 
 
The song thematically is about internally feeling as if you don't meet the standards of society or really, critics. Listening to it over and over, I think I finally realized why it seems so sad to me. "When's it gonna be my turn" to not be this figure of beauty and societal fuck, but to be in love and loved for her depth and layers, overall, not just her beauty. When will anyone listen to what I'm trying to say and how the music sounds? "Open me up, tell me you like it" isn't physical, she wants him to get down to her depth, to read her layers and truly like her for her, and this is still a double meaning for the critics too. On the surface level, Ocean Blvd is this city and what everyone perceives as pretty and bustling, but underneath, theres something much more dark, something with more layers than what the outside can show off. In a way it feels like this is pleading for the question she asked back in Young & Beautiful, "will you still love me when I'm no longer young & beautiful?" and now she's simply saying "Don't forget me, like the tunnel under ocean blvd" especially at the end, she changes it from "theres" to "like the tunnel under ocean blvd." It's a subtle change, but is important. You can even go further with this thought, that maybe this tunnel is in some sort of a way, a rotting layer where a princess has been locked away. The second verse kind of cements that for me, that this tunnel is a double entendre for her feelings and depth, but also something that's locked her away whether that's from relationships or friendships, hence the Camarillo line, only silver mirrors running down the corridor, where she's literally the only one in this second metaphorical tunnel looking back at her self. It makes her realize how alone she is in this eternal fight for someone to understand her.
 
Which puts us at the third verse "I just wish I had a friend like him, someone to give me fire, Lennon in the back, whispering in my ear, 'Come on baby, you can drive/thrive' but I can't" This line immediately made me think of this song, if she is in fact saying "Lennon" and "Baby, you can drive"
 
 
This track also gives more meaning to the line "You are a tunnel lined with yellow lights on a dark night" from Yayo, which doesn't seem extremely deep, but it's a well liked line because it's so visual, but now I think I understand it even more. She's saying this person's depth shines bright but you have to drive through it, rather than digging straight down into it, which I think kind of plays a part here. 
 
I think this video would fit this song extremely well
 
 

Love love love ocean blvd. I listened to it on repeat on my last flight home after a transfer at the chicago airport on wednesday. It was so gloomy and cold in chicago, but it's always sunny above the clouds. It was amazing listening ocean blvd as the plane broke through the rain and dark clouds and the sun was there right before it set. I don't think I've ever had a more beautiful first listen of a lana song, watching the sun set through the storm clouds on my flight back home

the choice to keep the tracklist secret is defiitely deliberate. makes me wonder if there are some very special titles hidden in it 

We have to get an album trailer. Every era since Paradise had one besides the two 2021 albums but their releases were on the lowkey side (specially BB) so it makes sense to get one this time that the rollout seems well planned 
 
She'll release it next year and will feature the title track, the new single and another song 

Since there'll be some really long songs, I wish there would be one Venice Bitch long track and a few Cruel World long. Maybe it'll be Lana's longest album yet? 

It feels like not even stores got the tracklist cause at least one would have published it under the vinyl listing by mistake so maybe she doesn't want to reveal it yet.
Maybe we'll get it with the next single next year 
 
BB tracklist was out with the preorder I think (or at least we got it from her store using the different links before the album was out) so it feels deliberate this time (or just an oversight who knows)
