I hope I got this description right omg, English is not my first language. I don’t make the news, I just report them!

I think this line is often misinterpreted. She's only citing a contemporary event. Citing is an important part of her artwork, recently I've read an interesting essay about it (in german).

Why is it you who determines that for her? I must have missed the obvious personal connection you have with her that fuels how well you know and understand her actions.

Frank Ocean never promoted his work and always released it without any social media fanfare. He used to post music on his tumblr account for heaven’s sake. Does that necessarily mean he doesn’t care about it enough to put on the work and promote it like someone like Selena Gomez or Bad Bunny?

She announced the date. Her deactivating her socials probably mean a lot of things: mental health issues, exhaustion from all the attention (negative and otherwise), a request from her team to let some steam off of her, etc. Why are we still insisting on the “this showed lack of interest/professionalism” just because most artists use social media to promote their work? Given how much she looks up to an era in which it was all about the music and not much about this type of industry machinations, it makes perfect sense that she would eventually want to take a break.

There are so many layers to this situation and yet some of you always seem to choose the oversimplifying interpretations and not only insist on sticking with it but also even go as far as wishing for a leak because YOU determined she doesn’t care for whatever reasons and therefore all of a sudden we’re allowed to minimize the release date she and her label decided. Make this make any sense…

Ya know, one thing I love about this forum is the immense capability of in depth analysis some of the users have. Really gets the brain cells up and moving. Love it

just because she doesn't promote her work the way you think she should doesn't mean her upcoming releases should leak weeks before their intended release

Maybe because she wrote those songs and they mean a lot to her?

i mean look at the lyrics:

All the things I couldn't want for him
    I screamed for them
    I screamed for them

She's likening the devastation of her man not being in the right side of history with her like it's a protest of her own. She isn't mentioning BLM as a means to dispel the racism claims - it's meant to place this story in time and to highlight how heartbreaking it is to witness someone you love go against the fucking bare minimum and your core beliefs as a good person. Like imagine how she might feel seeing Sean witnessing her at the protests and him just seeing her and doing nothing but being a pig. Text Book tells a very sad story and I personally relate to it after seeing my ex turn into a major hypocrite and it's truly devastating when you find out the person you love and cared for is someone you're supposed to despise - in Lana's case a racist.

I dunno, I assumed the “them” she screams for are “all the things [plural ]I couldn’t want for him”, as “I screamed for them” comes right after. The things she couldn’t want for him (her father) are the things she screams for.

seeing y’all share your very questionable opinions about BB reminds me of a reaction video of some old guy i saw and that old guy did have a point because he said it’s not a song to intellectually dissect it’s just about really feeling the song without thinking too much about it and honestly i like it a lot more through that perspective

What I like best in 'Blue Banisters': her varied voice carries the whole song, there's only a slight piano accompaniment and nothing more. It's a really brilliant performance!

I guess you can call it textbook….Lana revealing that she in fact had what we all knew which was okay daddy issues and her finally diving into it….

I wonder how the album will end with sweet Carolina when she sings with her father playing on the piano

OK. I was never the biggest fan of Wildflower Wildfire.

But it lowkey hits different when your mom actually rages at you for no reason.  Now it's been on repeat for a couple days, and it's helping me through the situation. A couple nights ago, my mom actually screamed at me when I was trying to have a vulnerable moment with my parents and used an example of how I felt alone while growing up gay in the church (basically, I said I felt more safe/understood at a concert I attended than church, or college, or work, or even in some LGBTQ+ groups). She couldn't handle it, told me I was full of shit, my experiences were invalid, and said some seriously hurtful, ugly, homophobic things to me, and man... emotional abuse from your family cuts deep. I now feel like I understand this song on a new level, and it's made me appreciate it so much more. It's a shame what unchecked emotional baggage can cause you to say your own child. And I love how in the song you can tell Lana's deeply hurt, but is still determined to unlearn that toxic type of behavior when it comes to interacting with the people she loves.

Didn't mean to get so personal and overshare, but damn. I've been bummed out, and I needed this song right now.

blue banisters (title track) is one of her best songs in years, and is easily my favourite so far in terms of singles. the replayability alone, PHEWWW... i'm on like 300+ streams so far and it still sounds as fresh as ever. i will be accepting no slander

arcadia, wfwf and tb are all incredible too, and even if you subjectively dislike the songs, the lyrics are objectively amazing and so well thought out

everyone say i love you elizabeth
