I respect everyone's right to their own taste and opinion. 'Violets For Roses' is one of my all-time favorite songs by Lana. The subtlety of the "a-has" to drive the melody home towards the end--about 3:41--is amazing, and something only Lana (or early Tori Amos) could do.

I agree with those who said "Jack had nothing to do with it"--meaning 'VFR'--we know from 'BPBP,' 'White Mustang' and 'Change,' among other pre-JA tracks, that Lana has been writing simple, '70s-Carly-Simon-like songs, sometimes with minimalist production for a while. This goes way back--'Old Money,' another of all my all-time Lana songs, was very simple in structure and melody.

I agree that JA may have brought, or seems to have brought, a certain amount of blandness and/or obviousness to Lana's music, but for me, 'VFR' isn't an example of that. And for me, whatever 'NFR!' leftovers made COCC were better than most of NFR!, an album I'm not a great fan of.

Lana has said she "grew up in a Carly Simon household" with a suggestion of disapproval, but she's middle-aged now and what we find on LDR9 may reflect that (or not), just as Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell were entering middle age in their latter 70s work (Mitchell was 33 at the time of 'Hejira,' and even has a 1981 song that begins, "Caught in the middle, Carol, we're middle class, we're middle-aged...").

I'd love to see Lana take command and do something really powerful, energetic, and blistering, like 'Serene Queen,' on LDR9, but we don't know where her head is at right now and we may never see that side of her again (though the JA 'bombastic' tracks seem to a suggest otherwise).

Probably not the first one, but this hit me at the night:
He used to call me DN
    That stood for Deadly Nightshade
'Cause I was filled with poison

Oh <3 So nice to read I'm not the only one who had this mechanism in front of this problem !
I discovered Sophie when I already had my tinnitus, I really like it but it's the type of music I'm not daring to play loud and often.
I have no problems with my tinnitus anymore, they're just here without bothering me but it was hard at the beginning yes. Now I enjoy music as much as I want, I just don't really use headphones anymore.

Idk what happened but NFR started to age for me this year. It was my #1, then I realized that I can listen to Ultra any time but NFR works only during summer and September. It's the perfect time for NFR right now but I'm not coming back to it as often as before so it looks like Paradise will be my #2 soon. :/
There's kinda not enough drama on that album. So that explains why straights love it so much. Looks like I want more of I don't wanna liiiive and He hit me and it felt like a kiss.

    When I look back
    Tracing fingertips over plastic bags,
    I think, I wish
I could extrapolate some small intention
    Or maybe get your attention
    For a minute or two

    Rockefeller,
    My umbrella,
    God I love you, baby
    Storyteller...

I think we also tend to forget how fast she moves. The album could very well be done or just about finished and she is work on LDR10, a collab , side singles, or any other project she’s wanted to do (American classics I’m looking at you)

honestly i feel like whatever neil was teasing in september does not have anything to do with any artists and it’s probably his own endeavor, maybe another art book or something. i just think it would be kind of weird for him to tease somebody else’s music tbh lol. i don’t think the teasing was for weyes blood either because apparently the vinyl for her album won’t be done until early next year + i don’t think an indie label like sub pop would do an early digital drop and she probably won’t announce the album at least over 4 months before it’s out. neil is probably putting out a project of his own

this is probably unrealistic but i also don’t think it’s that far fetched, but i would really like lana to make an album that sounds like Hejira by Joni—i guess NFR and chemtrails sort of do but they also don’t really, maybe only Venice Bitch is truly an encapsulation of Hejira. can you imagine a whole album that sounds like this though, ugh it would literally be a combination of everything she’s ever done in her career and it would be her best

Lana, if the album drops on October 14th and it doesn’t have LOUD ELECTRIC GUITARS I swear to god I will… I will… still play it anyways. I eat everything you drop
