i'm honestly in love with the instrumental, and the way her cadence swings from sweetness to fucking schizophrenia. the audio companion was a genius move

    The Rosebud reference is a reference to Citizen Kane;

Charles Foster Kane's innocence was taken when he was sent away...

.... Similar to how Lana was sent away as a kid

I agree, disillusioned with both the futility of it and the depression it brings.

this poem is the opposite of pawn shop blues
"its nice to love and be loved but its better to know what God knows/to know all you can know"
Here, she's saying the exact opposite.. this is really interesting imo

This reads as disillusionment with her interest in metaphysics. Disillusionment with the futility of it.

I am fascinated  with how Lana has an affinity for the name Violet. I also use Violet as a screen name or as a placeholder for characters in stories I create. When I was young teen, Vioet was my alter ego, and it kinda is now. I wish she would speak more on "Violet."

Hadn’t seen anyone post about this yet… the Kansas City Zoo has a yearly fundraiser called Jazzoo, and they had a raffle. One of the prizes was lunch with Lana when she comes back to Kansas City.

Long story short, I bought my ticket to Jazzoo just for the raffle. I cannot believe I am typing this. But, I won.
It’s been a dream of mine since I was 13 years old. I feel like I’m floating and also dreaming and wondering when I am going to wake up??? I thought this was so random of her (but we love our “lol I’m so random🤪” queen) but I was told she has family ties here, either with someone at the zoo or KC Magazine. Either way, I’m stoked. I was literally crying screaming throwing up when I got the email (ok maybe not throwing up but yeah)

    Felt like this all day:

There were hundreds of people at Jazzoo, but only 15 raffle tickets were bought for Lana’s prize. Below is a picture of me during the event last Friday night manifesting my dream come true… and a wayyy better pic of me wearing the dress she wore to the 2019 Grammys party. ANYWAYS, if you need me I’ll be planning my funeral because I’m pretty much dead  Let’s hope I’m able to eat with her sitting in front of me lol

editing this to add I hope this doesn’t come off braggy or anything I just was so excited the first thing I thought was sharing the news with my Lanaboards family cause I love you all so much!!!!! ❤️🥰

My teacher actually really liked Violets and I told her last year that Lana will make another poetry book and now she’s asking me every week when Lana will release that book

There’s no way of knowing for sure obviously unless Lana herself explains it, but we know Sylvia, Marilyn, and Diana are not just mere famous women to her that she listed - they hold a special place in her heart and I’m sure Lana identifies with their stories in the same way she probably identifies with the stories that have been passed down to her in her family - likely ones about her great-grandmother, Violet.

In the poem, she implies that these 4 blonde women have had tragic endings to their life stories (we know of Sylvia, Marilyn, and Diana, and can assume something about Violet since she’s grouped with them) but that she dyes her hair black, perhaps to embrace the darkness that got the best of them - whatever form that darkness took - and live with the lightness that they never had in honour of them, maybe. It’s quite a layered poem and that’s my inference, at least!

I believe it was her great grandmother! It says she was the mother of Robert England Grant, whose son is Robert England JR, aka Lana's dad!
    https://www.geni.com/people/Violet-Grant/6000000033603740823

Upon reading Robert England Grant's obituary (https://www.geni.com/people/Robert-Grant/6000000033603540322)
    "Bob is survived by
    his wife, Cynthia,
    his sons
    Robert and his wife, Pat;
    David; and
    Jim; all of Lake Placid.
His great joys also included his grandchildren:
    Elizabeth,
    Caroline,
    Charlie, and
    David and his wife Marya"

It wouldn't be too far fetched to assume this is the Violet Lana is referring to, as she said in the video she posted in December announcing VBBOTG as a spoken word album that she was connecting to her own family lineage!

There's one this I have noticed about Diet Mountain Dew demo lyrics recently and now I'm kinda confused, is it:

"Scary, my God, you're divine!" - this is the one I had always thought the lyric was, meaning that "omg, how scary that you're divine!"

    Or is it:

"Scary? My God, you're divine!" - that's what I have seen most fans quote as and I only just noticed that recently, meaning that "omg, you're not scary, you're divine!"

    Happy 10 Brooklyn honey!
This song, to me, feels like one of Lana’s most Lizzy moment… those baby vocals and the humorous lyrics. It must’ve been fun to be a fan on this period. where last week, you gotta hear shades then the next week you got
to hear ultra’s title track and Brooklyn baby in the same week..
the first five songs from ultra remains my favorite lana five-punch on an album… : ) great energy. Fiery.

I don’t think Lana is as confessionalistic as she thinks she is and I think it’s part of why she has such a long career. She’s been able to air things out over a long period of time but not fully airing them out right off the bat

I like Born To Die (the song) live better when it’s stripped down and more intimate

I'm happy that there will never be a video for A&W, because it's such a vivid song (both musically and lyrically), any actual visuals for it would trivialise it.

I love NFR song but Mariners Apartment Complex had the chance to be one of the best openers ever especially with the cover art boat reference BUT I'm still glad that NFR is the opener because it gave us the best transition from LFL era to NFR era - Get Free to NFR title track with the blue and sea references and I think it's one of her best moments in her career!

love taylor but can they please stop bringing her up unwarranted ask about the singer that's right in front of you

edit: i didn't realize that this is an article actually about taylor, not an interview on lana lol
