News flash, not everyone that lives outside of the US is in a state of dictatorship where free speech is strictly prohibited.

It's so funny that during a really interesting conversation with multiple users engaged, there's always someone who will simplify it and tell people to touch grass. Like, we will, but you should probably stop at the library on the way home from the park as well if that's all you can add.

SalvaWhore's pro-tip: Use the background noise (rain sounds) on iphone while playing the song.

the whole lana and her political stance discourse is so retired and irrelevant. she is obviously doing a mockery just like she did with "fucked my way up to the top" or "money power glory" back then when they were criticizing her for fucking the industry to get on top or whatever. she always have done this, and she always will, her saying "regrettably a white woman" is basic humor in her lyrics where she is covering herself in the way public is making her out to be when she is no where near a karen status...

Honestly I feel like this album is gonna really be for people who care to know who Lana the person is, and her past rather than the “sound”. She’s never been as blunt (yet still poetic), as she’s been with these singles. BB was kinda scratching the surface, but this album seems to be completely open.

I’d even go as far to say that in A&W she might have even admitted to having been r*ped. But I think that went over peoples head since it’s hard to know where the persona starts and where it ends. But after singing that r*ped line, she follows it up by singing  with a sneer “on top of this, so many other things you can’t believe”. Seemingly confirming that the r*ped line is actually true, among other things people couldn’t believe due to her reputation.

I don’t know just some thoughts, I think a lot of things get interpreted wrong due to the persona, but I honestly think the persona has faded away gradually since NFR.

I’ll disagree with you not because I think UV is less dark but because I think Tunnel and UV are dark in very different ways. UV is told with the perspective of someone in the eye of a storm. Tunnel seems to come from someone who’s matured and grown from it but still aches looking back at it and realizing how formative and destructive those experiences were.

There’s no point in comparing them, to be honest. I went through very rough and painful experiences that brought me feelings of angst, loss and isolation and were very hard to go through but now, years later and way more mature and a bit more self-assured, I struggle with coming to terms with what everything behind me means: what it says about me as a person, what did I do to deserve to go through those experiences and the ramifications said experiences still have on my day-to-day life. It’s a different kind of suffering but it’s suffering anyways - my therapist once told me that looking back at my past with a bird’s view lens, while useful and perhaps necessary, would eventually turn out to be pretty dark and severe for me because it would make me realize that everything is connected and structured in a very complex and dense architecture; that often causes me a lot of pain and dismay, even if I can admittedly tell you right now that I’m happier today than I was years ago.

Yet, coming to terms with the traumatic experiences that shaped the person you are today is a very overwhelming process to go through even if the long term purpose of that is to seek serenity and find blissfulness. I haven’t found either but I’m on my way to do so. And this is exactly what I will assume Tunnel represents: the realization that there’s a deeper meaning to every single cell and fiber of your existence, even if the outside suggests you otherwise. It’s a different kind of perspective than the one you can offer when you’re actively going through trauma but it’s one that can be just as encompassing and sprawling. For one to pick up the pieces and try to build something new, one gotta face the shambles first, head on. That’s heavy.

lyrics are kinda simple for lana's standard to i gues but regardless it is still such a lovely and enjoyable song, i remember sometimes putting it on in summer drinking wine to it

this would be really interesting but i guess nfr as the opener track really does it's job at transcending us into another dimension especially w that string arrangement in the intro of the track. it is just beautiful, transcendental and introduces the main themes of the album quite effectively, where as mariners works the track that keeps the journey going. also i can't imagine the nfr's string intro being the second track we hear in the album

yes, as interesting as the last line from MAC going into NFR’s first line would have been great, ultimately the “Goddamn Manchild” serves the same function anyway - people had been listening to albums’ worth of her codependency (with some exceptions - HBTB, LFL deep-cuts), then she opens with that.

I also adore how NFR title track is  mixed - I love me some wall of noise reverb, but this for me was the first time her voice was mixed crystal clear with that acoustic piano, matching the above sentiment in sound as well as lyrical theme. There was no getting around it - this was Lana doing a 180, and we were gonna hear exactly what she had to say. -chef’s kiss-
