I didn't know Bleachers and Jack Antonoff were the same person
I had casually listened to Bleachers before and so I was familiar with some songs and thus Jack's voice, but when I first listened to Margaret and I saw everyone talking about Jack's singing I was so confused, bc I kept thinking, I don't hear anyone else singing, I just hear Bleachers, when does he sing??
So embarrassing

knivesdasilvia liked a post in a topic by Crazy Husband Thief in Divide Lana's albums into sections.
Whenever I think of how to re-arrange a tracklist, I separate the album into groups that I feel male sense sonically or thematically.
In recent times, this has been popularised by artists like Taylor Swift where they release an album as mini-EPs that tell a certain story. I think Lana's albums work very well for this and I would like to read some of your ideas/concepts.
Here's a rough idea for Born To Die:
SIRENS
(The duality of the word: sirens of police cars, indicating a crime or the mermaid serenading her love interest and luring them to death)
Born To Die
Blue Jeans
Dark Paradise
LOLITA
(The songs evoke a strong imagery of a young girl living in NYC and escaping with her much older sugar daddy to go to Las Vegas)
Lolita
Diet Mountain Dew
Off To The Races
OPULENCE
(These songs are perfectly represented by the National Anthem video. Lana being both, Jackie O AND Marilyn)
National Anthem
Million Dollar Man
Without You
PARTY GIRLS
(The story of two girls who have a deep connection with each other but fall victim to alcohol and drug abuse and thus get separated)
This Is What Makes Us Girls
Carmen
Summertime Sadness
BITTERSWEET
(Finding happiness through a fulfilling relationship or through fame, although both with a slightly bitter taste because everything comes at a price)
Video Games
Lucky Ones
Radio

You've watched the best two (imo)! In the Mood for Love alone was enough for me to cement Wong Kar-wai as one of my all-time favourite directors, it's such a masterpiece
I've only seen Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides and The Bling Ring from Sophia Coppola! I think In the Mood for Love definitely inspired Lost in Translation, which happens to be my favourite of the three!! I love her slow, dreamy style

DAMNNN you have taste!!! Wong Kar-wai is such an interesting director so far I've only made my way through Chunking Express and In the mood for love -- but I can already see the influence that the films had on Sophia Coppola's own work.

there are so many but def across the universe by the beatles .. "nothings gonna change my world" .. that soothing sentiment.
it doesn't matter what bad experiences you've lived through - none of it has to define you
it doesn't matter what someone else tells you you are or ought to be, how to live - you can reject it & follow your own soul
it's all about personal perspective- nothing is gonna change my world... except me <3

I got into Lana late, inbetween lfl and nfr, (although in fairness i was like 10 when btd dropped). I remember listening to Get Free after randomly clicking a youtube video of creep and seeing comments about the lawsuit, thinking get free was better, and then playing Heroin and feeling ….. indescribable. I was like *oh*. So this is how good music can be. I feel like I have a before and after of perspective on music with her. Heroin will always be special to be.
Otherwise/before her, Halsey really jump started my life as a online music stan. I also listened to David Bowie like religiously, mainly before Lana.

To me, Lost In Translation is neither depressive nor a RomCom (but especially not the latter!).
It's a thoughtful movie of two strangers crossing paths and having an impact on each other's lives. The nature of their relationship is also not completely clear and it has an open ending.
(In my view, their relationship is affectionate and special but platonic. Idk why people always have to make everything about love and sex.)
I'd recommend watching it in full. It also has an amazing soundtrack. Sofia Coppola always has good music in her movies.

Also Lolita, and I think you can draw your own conclusions to what I mean by that....though the book 100x better than the movie, the movie does a horrible job portraying what the message of the book is about. The book actually makes it clear what his intentions really are, without taking away from the book....the movie not so much.
Oh also I believe in unicorns FOR SURE!
