Well I've heard this people have complete control of EVERYTHING, including the radio and television. Does this mean every artist has to join this people? Probably. That's the price for fame, I truly feel sorry too for the musicians who just want to share their art with the world, but they aren't allowed to, cause things are so different from before, it's not about sharing your feelings or making other people feel good, it's about selling records, becoming rich, popular. Money, money, money. Different, innovative, creative artists are sometimes ignored and only the untalented, good looking people get promoted, because they bring more money. Just look at reality shows and see how a good job they're doing controlling us, everyone wants to be famous, for no reason at all, they just want to be, so they go into these shows (X factor *cough* *cough*) and suddenly do become popular, and after being controlled into making certain type of music, because thats what sells, and not the music YOU WANT TO DO, you get more and more surrounded by fake people who drive you into excessive use of drugs or alcohol, and then you're fucked. If don't let them control you, you are chased, bombarded with big pay-checks that end up killing you so there's no good ending to this, unless you actually enjoy making maintream music with absolutely no meaning at all, then GOOD FOR YOU, the music business is perfect for you.

In Ride video she says she does it because she was "born" to be the other woman. I don't think that's a good reason. But yeah in general I don't know the real circunstances this people are living, so I won't judge. Everyone has their shit.

I think there-s definitively something going on, and artists are being used to manipulate the people, into only caring about sex, money, etc.. that way it-s easier for them to control us... Also I think there-s a lot of relation with drugs here, people who get on "strong" drugs tend to see the same stuff, pyramids, geometric figures, demons, and all of that stuff, so why do we all see the same? 
Is there some high being controlling us right now? Are we connected in some way and can make a change in the world but these "people" don't want to allow us to do it? Power is all they want. Maybe I'm going to far, but this is not a normal world, and i don't think we are meant to be born, work our asses off doin pointless shit we don't even enjoy, and then die. I beleive we have a power within ourselves but we are being fooled into thinking we don't.

Another part of the interview says "The hip-hop beats of Born to Die, its strings and legendary violins are gone...Guitars, rock-and-roll and soft jazzy vibes - Ultraviolence is here." Are we sure of the context of that bit about "Money, Power, and Glory?" The first sentence could have been addressing the shift from hip-hop beats to a rock sound.
 
Edit: the passage says that MPG illustrates the "virage" which translate to "turn." I think it's saying that the song is an example of the shift from BTD's hip-hop beats, and the rhythmic music that American radios love, to the new rock sound.

how does an appreciation for color relate to a distaste for subtitles? black and white film doesn't make the viewing any more or less difficult, does it?

Well, I wanted the video to be in colour because the photographs looked amazing and I didn't want it to look like the Blue Jeans video (which I believe was shot in B&W to keep the crocodiles more real, as they were made out of rubber or something and colour would've simply ruined the effect).
 
My native language isn't english and I watch subtitled films all the time, just because I hate dubbings and I always like to hear the original audio/language.
