While I’m a partial to Lana’s early, cinematic soundscape, the triple single release really demonstrated how effective sparingly-used instrumentation can be when highlighting certain lyrics or vocal stylings.

In WW, the synths that come in when she sings, “I’ve been running on star-drop IVs,” give me chills every single time. The same goes for Text Book when “Ol’ Man River keeps rolling,” ushers in the almost choir-like vocals and ambient noise.

I think I (and others, probably) have been so accustomed to a grandiose styling from Lana that her more stripped tracks feel “underproduced” when that’s often not the case. Again, that doesn’t necessarily apply to all of her stripped tracks, but I could see it associated with quite a few. Just a random thought & appreciation post for her more recent works ig lol

I couldn't care less if people don't like Lana's newer music (sucks to be them ) but it definitely is exhausting when the criticism isn't constructive or engaging but just rude. We don't really need to repeatedly hear people say "flop this, Nikki Roach that, this person sucks, that person is lazy, etc etc." Trashing the work isn't the same as discussing it.

I actually love how all these songs remind me of Hope is a dangerous thing... that song is one of my favorites for its sheer honesty and bittersweet melody... just came to realize just how great WW lyrics are.. and Blue banisters is so damn sad.. it’s kinda like realizing life goes on and some wounds just can’t seem to heal. It’s like everyone is happy and moving on but Lana still can’t seem to see past much.. no matter how optimistic she is.. kinda reminds me of the never ending heartbreak and suffering frida khalo endured until her end days.. sad shit

True. She made LFL for the fans, and although there are some gems in this record, it appears to be her least personal one, and it’s a bit all over the place (still an amazing album though, and it was an essential step in her career). Stans should stop having high expectations. Everyone has expectations at some point and it’s totally normal, but stans are just toxic. No, Lana will never do another BTD or UV. No, Lana will never go back being as glamorous as she was during the BTD era. It’s time to let go of the past. No matter what pressed stans may say, she’s been serving only quality for a decade and she’s only been working with amazing producers. She’s just evolving, we are all evolving too, and as fans (or stans) it’s really toxic to want something that’s dead back. And it’s toxic for us too! Because it only makes the love we have for Lana crumble. Some of you guys are stuck with a version of Lana that she isn’t anymore and will never be again, and you should really consider letting go and welcoming the change and her evolution as a person and an artist. And remember that it’s okay to not like her anymore, not everyone is able to appreciate her evolution and not everyone wants to. However, everyone should at least try to understand why she’s not making BTD or UV 2.0 and why she’s evolving in a very specific direction instead. Then if you don’t like it, fine. But there’s just no point with complaining all the time about her current sound. The production on the three new tracks is immaculate. Only the mixing sucks, but that can be fixed for the album’s release.

I realized that I don't think F*ntano likes the "moaning" type tracks she makes

He still has a problem with Ultraviolence to this day, and I know there's been some debate about whether Wildflower is good or not, but that is the closest track we've been to Ultraviolence energy in a long time

You say there's gaps to fill in, so here
    Here's the deal
My father never stepped in when his wife would rage at me
So I ended up awkward but sweet
Later then hospitals, stand still on my feet
Comfortably numb, but with lithium came poetry

And baby, I, I’ve been running on star drip
    IV's for so long
I wouldn't know how cruel the world was
Hot fire, hot weather, hot coffee, I'm better
So I turn, but I learn (It from you, babe)

Not to turn into a wildfire
    To light up your night
With only my smile and nothing that hurts
Baby, I run like a wildflower
    I live on sheer willpower
I promise that nothing will burn you
    Nothing will burn, burn, burn
Like the others, baby, burns, burns, burns
Burn, burn, burn (Like the others, baby)
Like the others, baby, burns, burns, burns

    These songs

Would it be a reach to assume when she says
“I guess you could call IT text book”
the “it” she’s referring to is “daddy issues”? Cause then she goes on to almost define what that term means or a common pattern people who have those issues tend to follow. I feel like she didn’t wanna flat out say it cause then people are gonna say she’s romanticizing it or they’re gonna say she’s too grown for that (as if those issues go away with time alone).

what do we think? Do we think I’m on to something or do we think there’s worms in me brain?

yeah i'm pretty sure that's what she means, like the "textbook" definition of "daddy issues", i can understand why she's being lowkey about it, since it's something that's mocked rentlessly, unfortunately

Knowing that the last song for COTCC was written in February 2020, it's interesting to note that by the time we first knew about Chemtrails, Lana's headspace had already shifted to these new songs.

Her going blonde, the Interview Magazine video, QFTC, Behind the Iron Gates....all of these things seem to be motifs that will run throughout the album.
I wonder how Lana felt about releasing an album as idealistic as Chemtrails when the reality as it was coming out was anything but. That must have been a real dichotomy and I guess that explains all the uncertainty surrounding it. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the crazy year we've all had will weave its way into this record. I can tell it's going to be soul-crushing, earth-shattering, a real journey.

I loved Patent Leather Do-Over as well - it truly is a "magnum opus" when it comes to her poetry - and the writing on these 3 songs is incredible. She really tapped into a new creative vein of introspection amidst this pandemic. This record + the next poetry book are just going to be a new peak for Lana. I am soooo excited!

"Miss Your Ultraviolence", "Bloody Moon", "Lost my Lust for Life", "Where's Norman?", "Let Me Touch Your COCC" The cringiest fake titles we've ever witnessed girlies

I can deal with a lot of things. QFTC, the selfie single covers (which I kind of like in a campy way ), etc. But I would unstan completely if she ever released songs called "Miss your ultraviolence" and "Lost my Lust for Life." "Where's Norman?" is kinda funny and less cringe, but still way too meta
