honestly yeah, I literally don't understand why it feels like I have to go through hoops on here to explain to others why I like this album (especially when it seems like the majority of LB users heavily dislike it when outsiders criticize Lana in any other way)  I get not liking it but calling people tasteless or whatever for liking it feels so weird when personal opinions, emotions, etc obviously exist

and I basically said this on the NFR thread, but I agree that the simplicity of NFR's lyrics make the album more relatable to me. Of course I love all her albums but her earlier works had a lot more of these Lana-isms and an over the top nature that I can appreciate and enjoy but definitely relate less with.

the only thing I can see lana uploading on IG rn is news footage with her making absolutely no commentary lol. nothing COCC related but I don't think it would be in good taste do that anyways

i am once again reminding this thread that if you don't like NFR it's simply because you haven't had your NFR dedicated emotional break down yet

Anyway. I'll admit that NFR has some very corny and cringe lyrics. I've never been a fan of the "if he's a serial killer then whats the worse that could happen to a girl whos already hurt", but let's be honest, all of her album has cringe moments on it. but at the end of the day they're still enjoyable albums as long as you don't take everything so seriously

anyways, groupie love remains my ultimate comfort song. Anyone who does not like that song is weird

also this thread becoming a nfr hate circle jerk again

i don't get why people say it upsets them when other people say NFR is lana's best, it's just personal taste

it's hard for me to say which album is my favorite cause i like them all for different reasons but personally i relate to NFR the most as the lyrics are so raw and i guess the most realistic in a way? most lana songs from BTD-HM paint this dramatic picture of a relationship straight out of like a godfather movie, which i love her storytelling and the cinematic feeling of those songs but it can sometimes be so over the top and dramatic that you can't even feel comforted by it.

NFR is such a comforting album for me. I used to get high a lot (lol) and it was such a great album to ground me back to reality if I got too anxious. A lot of people make fun of her lyrical choices in some songs (usually single lines from VB's verses, Love Song, HIAB, Hope, etc) but honestly their simplicity makes the album a lot more relatable for me compared to her more previous works. My favorite albums rotate between either UV or NFR a lot, but I honestly think it just depends on my current headspace. UV comforts me by allowing me to dwell in my turbulent feelings while NFR comforts me with its warmth and introspective nature because the album for me is a story of bitterness to apathy to acceptance. I do think some things could be changed (taking TNBAR out completely, HtD should've been a piano ballad with strings!, bridges) but I feel the same with all her albums tbh.

I haven't really stopped listening to NFR, just not as constant if that makes sense. I can't really believe that it's only been a year. the skies are the same as how they were a year ago, but a lot changed, and ofc u grow. I kinda thought the record was gonna be here by now, but I guess it really isn't all that bad. I just thought that the memories attached to this one wouldn't have to last so long. it's not about lacking in appreciation, but just. excited for the new one chemtrails might be leading us to?

    I miss going out hahahahahaha.

some practical advice to get ur day a bit feeling more less everyday:
Venice, FIILY, California, HTD, TNBAR, and Love song. great tracks to listen to while the skies have that red/orange/pink glow with the dark grey clouds semi leoparding them. perfect for drivinnng

I’ve listen to Hope million times today. Its so haunting and personal. I always forget that it’s on NFR cause it seems like a “winter” song to me since it was released in January. I get why Jack said it’s one his favorites.

the little sax in venice's so comforting.

still remember the early morning rise n shine quality strings of the title track. this album's a time capsule. and we know how Lana's music's gonna age real well, but I think this one's gonna be an easy favorite for the listeners in the future.

Happy Birthday to the best song of the album aka Venice Bitch

    Love this song so much
Even though it's almost 10 minutes it doesn't feel like 10 minutes  ..for me it's still feels to short and that's when you know that the song is fucking good !!
Some  moments feel like crashing waves and I love that
Still remember when I listened Venice Bitch last year at the sea with my feet in the water....it was one of the best & most beautiful moments in my life and it was somehow magical

bar didn't work at all on nfr imo because it was much better at being a bitter song than it was a nostalgic song, and i hated the vocal layering she added to her voice on the released version because it didn't suit the track well, in the original her voice carried you and you could feel that she was exhausted and fed up by the way she was singing it, in the nfr version she just seems to be shouting, they were obviously trying to make it cohesive against the previous track california with the same vocal layerings but california is a desperate song so the layering was needed with her shouting, but idk... tnbar will always feel out of place there to me
